Description
The invention relates to the production of Gchirichtereilementen for copper oxy (! Rectifier.
In diesem Ofen' bleiben sie nur so lange Zeit, alsIn the usual method of manufacturing such rectifier elements, copper plates are first cleaned in some suitable manner, such as by acid etching. Then these plates are put together in pairs on a holder in such a way that the adjoining surfaces of each plate pair are in contact with one another, whereupon they are heated in the electric furnace in the presence of air. The temperature of the furnace is kept in the vicinity of about 100 ° C. This heating of the plates causes the formation of a copper oxide layer (so-called Ro'toixyd) on the plates and is continued until the copper oxide layer has the desired thickness, with a heating time of 8 to 13 minutes usually being sufficient to remove an oxide layer from the to produce the desired thickness. When a sufficient amount of ferrous oxide has formed on the plates, they are immediately transferred to a second furnace, the temperature is maintained near 550 0 C. They stay in this oven only as long as

Als letzter Schritt lernt wird, daß nur noch mikroskopische Spuren der Umrißlinien der bei der Voroxydierung gebildeten Kupferoxydulkristalle bestehen bleiben, worauf etwaige Säurespuren und fein verteiltes Kupfer durch Waschen entfernt werden.ίο a thin outer coating of Schwär 1 ZEM copper. wherein said oxide coating of the adjacent plate nearest to surface is much thinner than the oxide layer on the opposite surface. Next, each panel is treated to remove the black oxide from both surfaces and the red oxide from the surface that has the thinner oxide layer. The last step is to learn that only microscopic traces of the outlines of the copper oxide crystals formed during the pre-oxidation process remain, whereupon any acid traces and finely divided copper are removed by washing.
In beiden Fällen erhält man Gleichrichter, bei denen einer VerbesserungA process is already known in which the oxidation takes longer than usual is carried out, so that one after removal of the black copper oxide layer retains a relatively thick oxide layer. It is also known after a first Oxidation to remove the cupric oxide formed and then a further oxidation treatment or, if necessary, several to undertake. In both cases, rectifiers are obtained, in which an improvement

It is well known that when rectifiers applied to this or any other known Wise made are supplied with a voltage in the direction of the high resistance is, this blocking resistance first drops relatively quickly, then something slower, until after some time it reaches an apparently stable value, the considerable forward resistance facing. The invention, in which after the pre-oxidation not only the cuprioxide, but also that Cuprooxide formed is practically completely removed, the advantage is more favorable Creep properties without the disadvantage of increased forward resistance to have to.

Die Erfindung sieht nun ein Herstellungsverfahren vor, mittels dessenThe decrease in resistance that forms the creep back appears to be different from the physical and chemical. According to the invention, in the manufacture of copper oxide rectifier elements, the copper plates are heated to the oxidation temperature in an oxidizing atmosphere before the normal oxidation treatment, so that oxide layers of approximately the same thickness are formed on both sides of the copper plate, whereupon the oxide layer formed is thin nitric acid. A 25 percent by volume solution can be used for this step of the procedure, but the solution can be even less concentrated. The plates are immersed in the nitric acid solution for so long that on the one hand the copper oxide is completely removed, but on the other hand the copper is not noticeably attacked by the acid: if the oxide is thoroughly removed in this way, plates remain, soft microscopic traces of the outline of the copper oxide crystals of the first oxide coating. It is advisable to leave this surface undisturbed, only all traces of the acid and the finely distributed copper deposited by the action of the acid must be carefully removed. The water used to wash the panels must, of course, be free from contamination and preferably distilled water is used for at least one final rinse of the panels
verwendet. After careful washing, the plates are cleaned a second time oxidizes any process which gives reasonably good rectifiers; for example is the process mentioned at the beginning of the patent specification for this second oxidation suitable.
It is advisable to apply an equally thick oxide layer through the pre-oxidation ίο Form both sides of the plates, otherwise the copper plates will no longer be uniform Have thickness and are not even if the pre-oxidation layer before the second Oxidation is removed.
