Description
Tubular wire with a smooth folded jacket and a protective cover against moisture '' and chemical attacks Tubular wires are often used to protect against moisture, Provide corrosive gases and liquids with an outer protective jacket. For the production This protective jacket is bitumen, bitumen tape, rubber, rubber tape, impregnated cotton covering and impregnated cotton braids have been used. It has also been suggested to surround the metal sheath of the tubular wire finitely with a cellulose varnish. It appears but that these envelopes have disadvantages as a protective layer. In particular it proves the outermost layer of braid or spun tape, even if it is soaked in cable wax, as it is permeable to water. The one applied to the metal Lacquer cracks at the bends in the tubular wire caused by the tubular structure of the tubular wire only - more or less forcibly, usually in use bending pliers. On the other hand, it is known that just Lacquer, especially moisture-proof cellulose lacquer, due to its dense structure best protection against the ingress of moisture and corrosive gases.
According to the invention, a tubular wire with a layer of lacquer as protection against moisture and contact can be produced in that at the same time for the production of the folded jacket a material is selected which, when formed into the folded tube, can be bent by hand without the aid of a tool. The use of such materials in tubular wires is known per se. For example, tubular wires have already been produced whose folded jacket was made of zinc to increase corrosion resistance. The new tubular wire uses a dense braid or a dense wrapping of cotton or other fibrous material as a protective sheath, which is impregnated with an acid-, gas- and moisture-resistant varnish, preferably a cellulose varnish. In the case of the wire produced in this way, there are no concerns otherwise asserted against the application of the lacquer layer, as both. the type of application to a fiber carrier and the type of use, namely installation without the aid of tools, ensure the durability of the cover. Compared to lines with a grooved metal jacket and impregnated braiding, the new line has the advantage that the ungrooved tubular wire has great longitudinal strength, and that the use of a material as the outer layer is not necessary which has to fill the grooves and adheres so firmly that it does not squeeze away when bending.
The protective layer applied over the seam jacket provides the same time a protection against accidental contact. It must therefore also have the highest possible insulation resistance to have. This insulation resistance can be achieved by adding additional layers between Folded jacket and braid or wrapping can be obtained. For example, ribbons from cellulose derivatives, impregnated fiber layers, rubber and bitumen and rubber and Bitumen tape and mesh are stored.
