Description

Process for the production of refined slate panels The invention refers to the refinement of slate, in particular of overburden slate, the use of which was previously only possible to a minor extent.

Synthetic resin is used for finishing, including phenolic synthetic resin varnishes, with which ceramic products were treated. Slate is also made with synthetic resin treated, in particular Solenhofen slate, to give it a glaze that is transparent and the undesirable peeling or writing of the surface layer prevented. With the peculiarity of slate, however, a glaze top layer could be used do not apply without further ado, as this is a multi-stage process with filling primer, Sanding and topcoat was required. Here already the multiple calls Burn-in of the: individual layers of color changes.

The new process uses plasticized, hardenable phenolic resin, which is dissolved in hydrocarbons, with which pure color tones in one operation as a top layer with immediate glaze on a rough or sanded slate plate be applied. Here, the phenolic resin paint is coated with pigments such as metal or mixed oxide colors.

Ceramic glazes have already been created by adding pigments Phenolic resin varnish replaces, which after stoving a firm and dense, but forms a matt covering and again to achieve a high gloss with a Paint without pigment must be coated. You also have such phenol lacquers dissolved in hydrocarbons, but contained these. no pigments. -Have pigments but their own effect in these solutions, for their presence burned these lacquers do not have a high gloss; however, it is mostly a cold process. Experiments have now shown that the known synthetic resin solutions used only the presence of sulfur and acid results in the formation of a reliable, prevents permanent consistent color and no glaze occurs; it will caused at most half-matt effects. The experiments have also shown that Synthetic resin solutions made from plasticized, hardenable and mixed with pigment colors Phenolic resin and pure, i.e. sulfur- and acid-free, benzene hydrocarbons resulted in the desired high gloss. It is therefore the one-step process Use of acid-free and sulfur-free hydrocarbons to dissolve Resin of vital importance, which alone only leads to an impeccable one Result leads. Only the use of such sulfur- and acid-free hydrocarbon solutions of synthetic resin, such as plasticized, hardenable synthetic resin, result in pure, immediately glazed top layers that avoid any fog formation. When such synthetic resin solutions mixed with pigments, such as metal or oxide paints, and then the solution; -, n to are baked in about 170 °, a hardened one is obtained in a one-step process Top layer of pure shades with glaze that do not change due to weathering, chemical Influences or wear and tear.

The sulfur- and acid-free hydrocarbon solutions of the synthetic resin are mixed with pigments that have been previously ground or ground, after which these solutions are applied to the slate with a painting machine or spray gun and burnt in «earth.

The one-step process can be used, for. B. Wall panels made of overburden slate Manufacture that are equal in appearance and durability to the ceramic plate can be.
