Description
Process for the purification of phenols from carbonized products, in particular lignite When separating phenols from carbonized products such as tars, oils, their extracts, wastewater, conversion products, etc., using alkalis are excepted the actual acidic components always also include neutral oil components, under certain circumstances in considerable quantities, taken up in the lye. The use of coke phenol production known working methods, such as the so-called Klardampfen and the extraction of the lye with low-boiling solvents to remove neutral oil, do not or do not lead here only with great losses or considerable heat input to the goal.
It has now been proposed, instead of blowing clear, in particular in the case of higher-boiling creosote fractions, treatment with adsorbent substances, such as fuller's earth, Florida earth, kieselguhr, salts, hydroxides or biochar. However, this method also does not lead directly or only with use large amounts of adsorbing substances to phenolic products that are clearly soluble in dilute sodium hydroxide solution, as they are used in particular for synthetic resin production or for pharmaceutical purposes are needed. This is especially true if you are looking for charcoal tar creosote Tried this procedure to purify.
It has now been found that a completely alkali-soluble product by treating with adsorbent substances, if one is in the The tar oil to be decreosulated is the low-boiling phenols, d. H. so the creosote fraction below about 22o °, enriches. This can be done, for example, in that one off the tar oil the higher boiling, for example above 2q.0 ° Separate portions by distillation and extract only the distillate with lye, or by the fact that before the treatment with alkali or before the treatment with the Adds adsorbent low-boiling phenols or oil fractions containing them. Components boiling below 200 ° have been shown to be particularly effective. Maybe you can instead of the low-boiling free phenols also the lyes made from them to add. The following possibilities thus arise: a) Addition of low-boiling points Phenols to creosote-containing oil or raw creosote, b) addition of phenol eyes to creosote-containing oil or raw creosote, c) addition of phenols to creosote liquor, d) Addition of phenol liquor to creosote liquor. -Preferably be in the to be decreosotated Tar oil enriched the phenols before the caustic treatment.
The measure to .distillate tar oils, phenolic oils and creosotes or fractionating is not in itself new. But you have them in context The production of phenol has so far only been used to produce carbolic acid from certain tar oils and to isolate cresol and save on extractants. The two mentioned Phenols should be obtained in such a pure form that clear steaming is mostly unnecessary. In contrast, the present method is aimed at difficult-to-clean Phenols of any kind, such as in particular brown coal tar creosote, with the help of Treatment with adsorbents to gain in pure form. Fractionation Just like the addition of low-boiling phenols, this only serves the purpose of shifting the ratio of the low-boiling to the higher-boiling phenols in the starting material in favor of the former, the adsorptive capacity of the adsorbent in a favorable sense to influence. It is therefore essential for the method according to the invention, that before the treatment with adsorbents in the starting material, the content enriched in phenols boiling below 22o ° and then the phenolate liquor obtained treated with adsorbents.
As a cleaning agent with excellent selective adsorption capacity In addition to fuller's earth, the active carbon z. Am Form of activated coking residues from wood, lignite and the like.
The treatment of the lye with. These adsorbents can either by stirring the finely ground powder with the lye or by filtering the Caustic made by sufficiently high layers of the adsorbent.
The amount of adsorbent that is required to also be in greatest Dilution to obtain clearly soluble phenolate liquors depends on the starting material, in particular according to the boiling limits or the content of low-boiling phenols. Generally less than 5% adsorbents are required for fractions below 220 ° less than 2 ° / o.
The selective action of the adsorbent is often improved and thus at the same time the material requirement is reduced, if at higher temperatures, preferably between 6o and i oo ', works.
It can also be advantageous to use the raw liquor before the Adsorptivbehandl: ung to let stand for some time. Should there be any excretions, so these are expediently before the adsorptive treatment by decanting, centrifuging etc. removed.
Embodiment 2ooo kg of light oil from lignite tar with a Creosote content of 13 '/ o and boiling limits of 17o to 30o °, of which about 35% boil below 220 °, about half of it is distilled off. The distillate, the one Has boiling range from 170 to 2q.0 ° and contains about 20% phenols, is with 750 kg 6% sodium hydroxide solution stirred through, allowed to settle well and the formed Phenolic eye peeled off. After standing for several hours, it is thrown to remove suspended matter to be separated and then heated on -a to about 8o to 9o0, with activated charcoal coke abandoned filled filter tower. Carbonic acid is created in the cleaned lye that runs off initiated until saturation. As a result, the phenols that took off are excreted while the soda solution returns to the process after causticizing with lime. The phenols are freed from the water content by heating and reduced Pressure redistilled. Instead of a redistillation, you can also immediately do a Connect fractionation in a tall column.
