Abstract

An elongated heating element (20X) for an electric blanket comprising a first conductor means (12X) which provides heat for the blanket and which extends lengthwise of the element (20X), a second conductor means (16X) extending lengthwise of the element (20X), and a meltdown layer (14X) between the first and second conductor means, which is selected, designed and constructed or otherwise formed so as to display an NTC, and electronic control means (30X) set to detect a change in the resistance of the meltdown layer (14X) to change the power supply to the conductor means (12X) to prevent destruction of the meltdown layer, the element further including a meltdown detection circuit (28X, 50X, 52X, 46X, 16X, 12X) with a thermal fuse (28X) for detecting, in the event that the control means (30X) fails, meltdown of the meltdown layer (14X) and for terminating power to the first conductor means (12X).“

Description

  • Betreffend das europäische Patent 1 036 486 ( DE 698 06 636 ) hat der 6. Senat (Nichtigkeitssenat) des Bundespatentgerichts auf die mündliche Verhandlung vom 17. Februar 2016 für Recht erkannt:
    1. I. Unter Abweisung der Klage im Übrigen wird das europäische Patent 1 036 486 mit Wirkung für das Hoheitsgebiet der Bundesrepublik Deutschland teilweise für nichtig erklärt, soweit es über folgende Fassung hinausgeht:

Claims (1)

  1. An elongated heating element (20X) for an electric blanket comprising a first conductor means (12X) which provides heat for the blanket and which extends lengthwise of the element (20X), a second conductor means (16X) extending lengthwise of the element (20X), and a meltdown layer (14X) between the first and second conductor means, which is selected, designed and constructed or otherwise formed so as to display an NTC, and electronic control means (30X) set to detect a change in the resistance of the meltdown layer (14X) to change the power supply to the conductor means (12X) to prevent destruction of the meltdown layer, the element further including a meltdown detection circuit (28X, 50X, 52X, 46X, 16X, 12X) with a thermal fuse (28X) for detecting, in the event that the control means (30X) fails, meltdown of the meltdown layer (14X) and for terminating power to the first conductor means (12X).“
