Description
- Diese Erfindung betrifft Turboöle auf Basis von synthetischem Öl, vorzugsweise Turboöle auf Basis von Polyolester, welche eine synergistische Kombination von Belastungsadditivchemikalien auf Phosphor(P)-Basis und Schwefel(S)-Basis verwenden, welche es der Turboölformulierung ermöglichen, ein hohes Druckaufnahmevermögen zu verleihen und auch die Anforderungen gemäß US Navy MIL-L-23699 einschließlich Oxidations- und Korrosionsstabilität und Si- Dichtungskompatibilität zu erfüllen oder zu übertreffen.
- Belastungsadditive schützen Metalloberflächen von Zahnrädern und Lagern gegenüber unkontrollierbarer Abnutzung und Verschweißung, wenn bewegliche Teile stark belastet werden oder hohen Temperaturen ausgesetzt werden. Das Einbringen eines hohen Druckaufnahmevermögens in ein Turboöl von hoher Qualität ohne eine nachteilige Beeinflussung anderer Eigenschaften kann signifikant die Nutzungsdauer und Verläßlichkeit der Turbinenmotoren erhöhen.
- Der Mechanismus, nach dem die Belastungsadditive funktionieren, erfordert eine anfängliche molekulare Adsorption auf Metalloberflächen, gefolgt von einer chemischen Reaktion mit dem Metall unter Ausbildung einer Schutzbarriere, die eine verringerte Reibung zwischen den reibenden Metalloberflächen bewirkt. Im Hinblick auf diese Wirkung wird die Wirksamkeit als Druckaufnahmemittel bestimmt durch die Oberflächenaktivität, die durch eine polare Funktionalität eines Belastungsadditivs ver liehen wird, und dessen chemischer Reaktivität gegenüber dem Metall; diese Merkmale können, falls nicht kontrolliert, zu einer ernsten Korrosion führen, bis extreme Druckbedingungen vorherrschen. Als Folge davon besitzen die meisten der wirksamen Belastungsadditive negative Nebenwirkungen auf andere bedeutende Turboölleistungsmerkmale: z. B. Korrosion, Neigung zur erhöhten Bildung von Ablagerungen und Elastomerinkompatibilität.
- US 5,395,538 lehrt die Verwendung eines alkylierten Thiophens für hochtemperaturstabile Gleitmittelfluide mit ausgezeichneter thermischer Stabilität, Antiverschleiß- und Druckaufnahmeeigenschaften und ausgezeichneter Additivlöslichkeit.
- US 3,642,631-A offenbart ein Schmieröl oder eine Hydraulikfluidzusammensetzung, welche ein substituiertes Bithiophen enthält, das als ein reibungsverringerndes Mittel verwendet wird.
- EP 434,464 betrifft eine Schmiermittelzusammensetzung oder ein Additivkonzentrat, umfassend metallfreie Antiverschleiß- und Druckaufnahmeadditive, welche Schwefel- und/oder Phosphor- und einen Aminobernsteinsäureester- Korrosionsinhibitor enthalten. Die Antiverschleiß- und Belastungsadditive umfassen Mono- oder Dihydrocarbylphosphat oder -phosphit mit einem Alkylrest, der bis zu C&sub1;&sub2; enthält, oder ein Aminsalz einer solchen Verbindung oder eine Mischung von diesen; oder Mono- oder Dihydrocarbylthiophosphat, wobei der Kohlenwasserstoff(HC)-Rest gleich Aryl, Alkylaryl, Arylalkyl oder Alkyl ist oder ein Aminsalz davon; oder Trihydrocarbyldithiophosphat, in welchem jeder HC-Rest aromatisch, alkylaromatisch oder aliphati sch ist; oder ein Aminsalz einer Phosphorthiosäure, gegebenenfalls mit einem Dialkylpolysulfid und/oder einem geschwefelten Fettsäureester.
- US 4,130,494 offenbart eine synthetische Esterschmiermittelzusammensetzung, enthaltend Ammoniumphosphatester und Ammoniumorganosulfonat, welche besonders als Flugzeugturbinenschmiermittel brauchbar ist. Die zuvor erwähnte Schmiermittelzusammensetzung besitzt gute Extremdruckeigenschaften und eine gute Kompatibilität mit Siliconelastomeren.
- US 3,859,218 betrifft eine Hochdruckschmiermittelzusammensetzung, umfassend einen Hauptanteil an synthetischem Ester und einen geringeren Anteil an Druckaufnahmeadditiv. Das Druckaufnahmeadditivpaket enthält eine Mischung aus einem quartären Ammoniumsalz von Mono- (C&sub1;-C&sub4;)alkyldihydrogenphosphat und einem quartären Ammoniumsalz von Di-(C&sub1;-C&sub4;)alkylmonohydrogenphosphat. Zusätzlich zu der verbesserten Hochdruck- und Abnutzungsbeständigkeit stellt das Schmiermittel eine bessere Korrosionsbeständigkeit zur Verfügung und bewirkt ein geringeres Quellen von Silicongummis als bekannte Öle, welche Aminsalze von Phosphor- oder Thiophosphorsäuren enthalten.
- Ein Turboöl mit unerwartet hervorragender Druckaufnahmekapazität ist ein Schmieröl, welches einen Hauptanteil eines synthetischen Grundöls, das ausgewählt ist aus Diestern und einem Polyolestergrundöl, vorzugsweise Polyolestergrundöl, und einen geringeren Anteil einer Belastungsadditivpackung, umfassend eine Mischung aus einem oder mehreren von Aminphosphat und Thiophencarbonsäure (TCA), deren Derivate und Mischungen davon, umfaßt.
- Der Diester, welcher in der Hochdruckaufnahmeschmiermittelzusammensetzung der vorliegenden Erfindung verwendet wird, wird gebildet durch Veresterung eines linearen oder verzweigten aliphatischen C&sub6;-C&sub1;&sub5;-Alkohols mit einer von solchen dibasischen Säuren wie Sebacin-, Adipin-, Azelainsäuren. Beispiele des Diesters sind Di-2-ethylhexylsebacat, Dioctyladipat.
- Der bevorzugte synthetische Grundbestandteil, welcher synthetisches Polyolestergrundöl ist, wird gebildet durch die Veresterung eines aliphatischen Polyols mit Carbonsäuren. Die aliphatischen Polyole enthalten von 4 bis 15 Kohlenstoffatome und besitzen von 2 bis 8 veresterbare Hydroxylgruppen. Beispiele von Polyolen sind Trimethylolpropan, Pentaerythritol, Dipentaerythritol, Neopentylglycol, Tripentaerythritol und Mischungen davon.
- Die Carbonsäurereaktanten, die verwenden werden zur Herstellung des synthetischen Polyolestergrundöls, werden ausgewählt aus aliphatischen Monocarbonsäuren oder einer Mischung aus aliphatischen Monocarbonsäuren und aliphatischen Dicarbonsäuren. Die Carbonsäuren können von 4 bis 12 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten und umfassen die geradkettigen und verzweigtkettigen aliphatischen Säuren, und es können Mischungen von Monocarbonsäuren verwendet werden.
- Das bevorzugte Polyolestergrundöl ist eines, das hergestellt wird aus technischem Pentaerythritol und einer Mischung aus C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub2;-Carbonsäuren. Technisches Pentaerythritol ist eine Mischung, welche ungefähr 85 bis 92% an Monopentaerythritol und 8 bis 15% an Dipentaerythritol enthält. Ein typisches im Handel erhältliches technisches Pentaerythritol enthält ungefähr 88% an Monopentaerythritol mit der folgenden Strukturformel
- und ungefähr 12% an Dipentaerythritol mit der folgenden Strukturformel
- Das technische Pentaerythritol kann auch etwas an Tri- und Tetrapentaerythritol enthalten, welche normalerweise als Nebenprodukte während der Herstellung von technischem Pentaerythritol gebildet werden.
- Die Herstellung eines Esters aus Alkoholen und Carbonsäuren kann unter Verwendung herkömmlicher Verfahren und Techniken, die dem Durchschnittsfachmann bekannt und vertraut sind, bewerkstelligt werden. Im allgemeinen wird technisches Pentaerythritol mit der gewünschten Carbonsäuremischung erwärmt, gegebenenfalls in Anwesenheit eines Katalysators. Im allgemeinen wird ein geringer Überschuß an Säure verwendet, um die Reaktion zur Vollendung zu zwingen. Wasser wird während der Reaktion entfernt und jeglicher Überschuß an Säure wird dann aus der Reaktionsmischung abgezogen. Die Ester von technischem Pentaerythritol können ohne weitere Reinigung verwendet werden oder können unter Verwendung von herkömmlichen Techniken wie Destillation weiter gereinigt werden.
- Für den Zweck dieser Beschreibung und der folgenden Ansprüche ist der Begriff "technischer Pentaerythritolester" so zu verstehen, als daß er das Polyolestergrundöl bedeutet, das hergestellt wird aus technischem Pentaerythritol und einer Mischung aus C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub2;-Carbonsäuren.
- Wie zuvor angegeben, wird zu dem synthetischen Ölgrundbestandteil ein geringerer Anteil eines Additivs gegeben, umfassend eine Mischung aus einem oder mehreren Aminphosphat(en) und TCA, deren Derivate und Mischungen davon.
- Das verwendete Aminphosphat umfaßt im Handel erhältliche monobasische Hydrocarbylaminsalze von gemischten Mono- und Disäurephosphaten und ein Spezialaminsalz des Disäurephosphats. Die Mono- und Disäurephosphatamine besitzen die folgende Strukturformel:
- wobei R und R¹ gleich oder verschieden sind und ein lineares oder verzweigtkettiges C&sub1;- bis C&sub1;&sub2;-Alkyl sind;
- R&sub1; und R&sub2; gleich H oder ein lineares oder verzweigtkettiges C&sub1;-C&sub1;&sub2;-Alkyl sind;
- R&sub3; ein lineares oder verzweigtkettiges C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub2;-Alkyl oder Aryl-R&sub4; oder R&sub4;-Aryl ist, wobei R&sub4; gleich H oder C&sub1;-C&sub1;&sub2;-Alkyl ist und Aryl gleich C&sub6; ist.
- Die bevorzugten Aminphosphate sind jene, worin R und R¹ gleich C&sub1;-C&sub6;-Alkyl sind und R&sub1; und R&sub2; gleich H oder C&sub1;-C&sub4; sind und R&sub3; gleich Aryl-R&sub4; ist, wobei R&sub4; ein lineares C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub2;-Alkyl ist oder R&sub3; ein lineares oder verzweigtkettiges C&sub8;-C&sub1;&sub2;-Alkyl ist.
- Das Molverhältnis des Monosäure- zum Disäurephosphatamins in den kommerziellen Aminphosphaten der vorliegenden Erfindung reicht von 1 : 3 bis 3 : 1.
- Es können gemischte Mono-/Disäurephosphate und nur Disäurephosphate verwendet werden, wobei letztere bevorzugt sind.
- Die Aminphosphate werden in einer gewichtsbezogenen Menge im Bereich von 50 bis 300 ppm (auf Basis des Grundbestandteils), vorzugsweise 75 bis 250 ppm, am meisten bevorzugt 100 bis 200 ppm an Aminphosphat verwendet.
- Materialien von diesem Typ sind aus einer Anzahl an Quellen im Handel erhältlich, einschließlich R. T. Vanderbilt (Vanlube®-Reihe) und Ciba Geigy.
- TCA und deren Derivate, das schwefelhaltige Additiv, das in dieser Erfindung verwendet wird, wird durch die folgende Strukturformel beschrieben:
- wobei R&sub5; gleich COOH oder eine lineare C&sub1;-C&sub1;&sub2;-Alkansäure ist (nachfolgend zusammenfassend als TCA-Derivate bezeichnet).
- Die bevorzugten TCA-Derivate sind solche, bei denen R gleich COOH oder eine lineare C&sub1;-C&sub4;-Alkansäure ist.
- Die TCA-Derivate werden in einer gewichtsbezogenen Menge im Bereich von 100 bis 1000 ppm (bezogen auf den Polyolestergrundbestandteil), vorzugsweise 150 bis 800 ppm, am meisten bevorzugt 250 bis 500 ppm verwendet.
- Das Aminphosphat und das TCA-Derivat werden im Gewichtsverhältnis von 1 : 1 bis 1 : 10, vorzugsweise 1 : 1,5 bis 1 : 5, am meisten bevorzugt 1 : 2 bis 1 : 3 Aminphosphat : TCA- Derivat verwendet.
- Das Öl mit hoher Druckaufnahme auf Basis von synthetischem Öl, vorzugsweise auf Basis von Polyolester, kann auch eine oder mehrere der folgenden Klassen an Additiven enthalten: Antioxidationsmittel, Antischaummittel, Antiverschleißmittel, Korrosionsinhibitoren, Hydrolysestabilisatoren, Metalldesaktivator, Detergenzien. Die Gesamtmenge solcher anderer Additive kann im Bereich von 0,5 bis 15 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise 2 bis 10 Gew.-%, am meisten bevorzugt 3 bis 8 Gew.-% liegen.
- Antioxidationsmittel, welche verwendet werden können, umfassen Arylamine, z. B. Phenylnaphthylamine und Dialkyldiphenylamine und deren Mischungen, gehinderte Phenole, Phenothiazine und deren Derivate.
- Die Antioxidationsmittel werden typischerweise in einer Menge im Bereich von 1 bis 5% verwendet.
- Antiverschleißadditive umfassen Hydrocarbylphosphatester, insbesondere Trihydrocarbylphosphatester, in welchen der Kohlenwasserstoffrest ein Aryl- oder Alkarylrest ist, oder deren Mischungen. Besondere Antiverschleißadditive umfassen Tricresylphosphat, t-Butylphenylphosphate, Trixylenylphosphat und deren Mischungen.
- Die Antiverschleißadditive werden typischerweise in einer Menge im Bereich von 0,5 bis 4 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise 1 bis 3 Gew.-% verwendet.
- Korrosionsinhibitoren umfassen, sind jedoch nicht darauf beschränkt, verschiedene Triazole, z. B. Tolyltria zol, 1,2,4-Benzoltriazol, 1,2,3-Benzoltriazol, Carboxybenzotriazol, alkyliertes Benzotriazol und organische Disäuren, z. B. Sebacinsäure.
- Die Korrosionsinhibitoren können in einer Menge im Bereich von 0,02 bis 0,5 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise 0,05 bis 0,25 Gew.-% verwendet werden.
- Schmieröladditive werden im allgemeinen beschrieben in "Lubricants and Related Products" von Dieter Klamann, Verlag Chemie, Deerfield, Florida, 1984, und auch in "Lubricant Additives" von C. V. Smalheer und R. Kennedy Smith, 1967, Seiten 1-11, deren Offenbarungen hiermit durch Verweis aufgenommen werden.
- Die Turboöle der vorliegenden Erfindung weisen ein ausgezeichnetes Druckaufnahmevermögen auf, was demonstriert wird durch den strengen FZG-Zahnradtest, während sie die Oxidations- und Korrosionsstabilitäts- (OCS) und die Si-Dichtungskompatibilitätsanforderungen erfüllen oder übertreffen, die von der United States Navy in der Spezifikation MIL-L-23699 herausgegeben wurden. Die Turboöle auf Polyolesterbasis, zu denen eine synergistische Mischung des Aminphosphats und des TCA-Derivats gegeben wurde, erzeugen eine signifikante Verbesserung hinsichtlich des Antifreßschutzes von hochbelasteten Zahnrädern gegenüber dem derselben Zubereitungen in Abwesenheit des Aminphosphats und des TCA-Derivats und erreichen darüber hinaus ein Druckaufnahmevermögen, das besser oder gleichwertig ist mit dem, welches erreicht wird mit einem dieser beiden Additive, das allein verwendet wird bei der höheren Zugaberate als der Zugaberate für die gesamte P/S-Additivkombination.
- Die vorliegende Erfindung wird durch Verweis auf die folgenden nichteinschränkenden Beispiele weiter beschrieben.
- In den folgenden Beispielen wurde eine Reihe von vollständig formulierten Flugturboölen verwendet, um den Leistungsgewinn durch Verwendung einer Mischung des Aminphosphats und des TCA-Derivats in den Drucklast-, OCS- und SI-Dichtungstests zu veranschaulichen. Es wurde ein Polyolestergrundbestandteil, der hergestellt wurde durch Umsetzen von technischem Pentaerythritol mit einer Mischung von C&sub5;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Säuren, zusammen mit einer Standardadditivpackung, welche von 1,7-2,5 Gew.-% an Arylaminantioxidationsmitteln, 0,5-2% an Triarylphosphaten und 0,1% an Benzo- oder Alkylbenzotriazol enthielt, verwendet. Dazu wurden verschiedene Druckaufnahmeadditivpackungen gegeben, welche aus folgendem bestanden:
- 1) Aminphosphat allein: Vanlube® 692, ein gemischtes Mono-/Disäurephosphatamin, im Handel erhältlich von R. T. Vanderbilt.
- 2) TCA-Derivat allein: Thiophencarbonsäure (TCA) oder Thiophenessigsäure (TAA), beide im Handel erhältlich von zahlreichen chemischen Lieferanten wie Sigma, Aldrich etc.
- 3) Kombination (vorliegende Erfindung): Die Kombination der beiden in (1) und (2) beschriebenen Materialien.
- Das Druckaufnahmevermögen dieser Öle wurde in dem strengen FZG-Test für Getriebeöle bewertet. Der FZG-Test für Getriebeöle ist ein Industriestandardtest zur Messung der Fähigkeit eines Öls, ein Fressen eines Sets von sich bewegenden Zahnrädern zu verhindern, wenn die auf die Zahnräder ausgeübte Last erhöht wird. Der hier erwähnte "strengen" FZG-Test ist von dem FZG-Test, wie er in der DIN 51 354 für Getriebeöle standardisiert ist, dahingehend verschieden, daß die Testöle auf eine höhere Temperatur (140 gegenüber 90ºC) erwärmt werden, und die maximale Wälzliniengeschwindigkeit des Zahnrads ebenfalls höher (16,6 gegenüber 8,3 m/s) ist. Die FZG-Leistungsfähigkeit wird angegeben in Einheiten der Schadenskraftstufe (failure load stage (FLS)), welche definiert ist durch eine geringste Laststufe, bei welcher die Summe der Breiten von allen beschädigten Bereichen eine Zahnbreite des Zahnrads übersteigt. Tabelle 1 listet die Hertz-Last und Gesamtarbeit auf, die von den Testzahnrädern bei verschiedenen Laststufen übertragen werden. Tabelle 1
- Der OCS-Test [FED-STD-791; Methode 5308 @ 204,4ºC [400ºF]] und der Si-Dichtungstest [FED-STD-791; Methode 3433], welche hierin zur Bewertung der Turboöle verwendet werden, wurden unter den Standardbedingungen durchge führt, wie sie von der Navy-Spezifikation MIL-L-23699 gefordert werden.
- Die Ergebnisse aus dem strengen FZG-Test, dem Si-Dichtungstest und dem OCS-Test werden in den Tabellen 2, 3 bzw. 4 aufgezeigt. Die Konzentrationen in Gew.-% (auf Basis des Polyolestergrundbestandteils) von dem Aminphosphat und TCA oder TAA, welche entweder allein oder in Kombination verwendet werden, sind ebenfalls in den Tabellen spezifiziert. Tabelle 2 zeigt auf, daß die Kombination des Aminphosphats und des TCA oder TAA ein ausgezeichnetes Lasttragevermögen aufweist, welches besser ist als oder vergleichbar ist mit dem, welches jedem der allein verwendeten Additive bei einer signifikant höheren Zugaberate als der der P/S-Additivkombination zugeschrieben wird. Die Tabellen 3 und 4 zeigen auf, daß die Turboölformulierung, welche die synergistische P/S-Belastungsadditivkombination enthält, ebenfalls die Spezifikation nach MIL-L-23699 OCS und die Si-Dichtungsspezifikation erfüllt oder übertrifft, wohingegen eine Formulierung enthaltend 0,1% VL 692 den Si-Dichtungstest nicht besteht und lediglich die äquivalente FZG-Leistungsfähigkeit zu der der vorliegenden Erfindung ergibt. Claims (6)
1. Schmierölzusammensetzung, umfassend einen Hauptanteil
eines synthetischen Grundöls, das ausgewählt ist aus
Diestern und Polyestergrundölen, die geeignet sind
für eine Verwendung als ein Turboölgrundbestandteil,
und einen geringeren Anteil an Additiven, umfassend
eine Thiophencarbonsäure (TCA) und/oder mindestens
ein Derivat davon, welche dargestellt werden durch
die Strukturformel
wobei R&sub5; gleich COOH oder eine lineare
C&sub1;-C&sub1;&sub2;-Alkansäure ist, und mindestens ein Aminphosphat.
2. Schmierölzusammensetzung nach Anspruch 1, wobei das
Aminphosphat ein einbasiges Hydrocarbylaminsalz eines
Disäurephosphats oder ein einbasiges
Hydrocarbylaminsalz eines gemischten Mono- und Disäurephosphats der
Formel
ist, wobei
R und R¹ gleich oder verschieden sind und ein
lineares oder verzweigtkettiges C&sub1;- bis C&sub1;&sub2;-Alkyl sind;
R&sub1; und R&sub2; gleich H oder ein lineares oder
verzweigtkettiges C&sub1;-C&sub1;&sub2;-Alkyl sind; und
R&sub3; ein lineares oder verzweigtkettiges C&sub4;- bis C&sub1;&sub2;-
Alkyl oder Aryl-R&sub4; oder R&sub4;-Aryl ist, wobei R&sub4; gleich
H oder C&sub1;-C&sub1;&sub2;-Alkyl ist und Aryl gleich C&sub6; ist.
3. Schmierölzusammensetzung nach einem der vorherigen
Ansprüche, wobei das TCA/Derivat in einer
gewichtsbezogenen Menge bezogen auf die Grundmischung im
Bereich von 100 bis 1000 ppm vorhanden ist.
4. Schmierölzusammensetzung nach einem der vorherigen
Ansprüche, wobei das Aminphosphat in einer
gewichtsbezogenen Menge bezogen auf die Grundmischung im
Bereich von 50 bis 300 ppm vorhanden ist.
5. Schmierölzusammensetzung nach einem der vorherigen
Ansprüche, wobei das Aminphosphat und das TCA/Derivat
in einem Gewichtsverhältnis von 1 : 1 bis 1 : 10
verwendet werden.
6. Schmierölzusammensetzung nach Anspruch 5, wobei das
Aminphosphat und das TCA/Derivat in einem
Gewichtsverhältnis von 1 : 1,5 bis 1 : 5 verwendet werden.
