Description
- Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft Schmiermittelzusammensetzungen, welche Benzotriazolderivate enthalten.
- Im Britischen Patent Nr. 2002772 werden Verbindungen der folgenden Formel für die Anwendung als Metallpassivatoren in Schmiermitteln beschrieben:
- Worin R¹ 1-18C Alkyl, 3-18C Alkenyl, 5-12C Cycloalkyl oder 6-10C Aryl ist, wobei jede dieser Gruppen gegebenenfalls mit einer oder mehreren 1-12C Alkyl- oder 7-9C Aralkyl Gruppen substituiert ist.
- Das U.S. Patent 4153565 offenbart Schmiermittelzusammensetzungen, die als Antioxidantien und Korrosionsinhibitoren das Addukt von i) Benzotriazol, gegebenenfalls ringsubstituiert mit einer 1-12C Kohlenwasserstoffgruppe und ii) einem Alkylvinylether oder einem Vinylester einer Hydro[xy]carbylcarbonsäure der Formel
- RII-CH=-O-RIII
- oder RII-CH=CH-O-C(=O)-RIV
- worin RII Wasserstoff oder eine 1-8C Alkylgruppe, RIII 1-18C Alkyl und RIV Alkyl, Aryl, Alkaryl oder Aralkyl mit 1-18C-Atomen ist.
- Aus dem US Patent 4260501 kennt man Schmiermittelzusammensetzungen enthaltend die Addukte des U.S. Patents 4153565 sowie ein Alkyldimercaptothiadiazol, insbesondere tert-Octyl-2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazol.
- Von uns wurde nun gefunden, daß bestimmte N-substituierte Benzotriazole zu verbessertem Metall desaktivierenden und Oxidationsverhindernden Eigenschaften führen, wenn sie Schmiermitteln zugesetzt werden.
- Entsprechend stellt die vorliegende Erfindung Schmiermittelzusammensetzungen bereit, enthaltend ein Grundschmiermittel und als Metallpassivator und/oder Antioxidans mindestens eine Verbindung der Formel (I),
- worin
- R&sub2; geradkettiges oder verzweigtes C&sub1;-C&sub1;&sub2;Alkyl ist, und
- R&sub3; durch eines oder mehrere O-Atome unterbrochenes geradkettiges oder verzweigtes C&sub1;-C&sub1;&sub2;Alkyl oder C&sub5;-C&sub1;&sub2;Cycloalkyl darstellt.
- R&sub2; als C&sub1;-C&sub1;&sub2;Alkyl ist beispielsweise Methyl, Ethyl, n-Propyl, Isopropyl, n-Butyl, sec.-Butyl, tert.-Butyl, n-Pentyl, n-Hexyl, n-Heptyl, n-Octyl, 2-Ethylhexyl, n-Nonyl, 3,5,5-trimethylhexyl, n-Decyl, n-Undecyl oder n-Dodecyl.
- R&sub3; als durch eines oder mehrere, vorzugsweise eins bis drei, O-Atome unterbrochenes C&sub1;-C&sub1;&sub2;Alkyl ist z.B. C&sub1;-C&sub4;Alkoxy-C&sub1;-C&sub4;alkyl wie Methoxymethyl, Ethoxymethyl, 2-Methoxyethyl, 2-Ethoxyethyl, 3-Methoxypropyl oder 1- oder 2-Methoxybutyl; C&sub1;-C&sub4;Alkoxy-C&sub2;-C&sub4;-alkoxy-C&sub1;-C&sub4;alkyl wie 2-Methoxyethoxymethyl; oder Di-C&sub1;-C&sub4;alkoxy-C&sub1;-C&sub3;alkyl wie Dimethoxymethyl, Diethoxymethyl, Dipropyloxymethyl, 1,1- oder 2,2--Diethoxyethyl oder 3,3-Dimethoxypropyl.
- Ist R&sub3; C&sub5;-C&sub1;&sub2;Cycloalkyl, dann sind Beispiele Cyclopentyl, Cyclohexyl, Cycloheptyl, Cyclooctyl, Cyclodecyl oder Cyclododecyl, insbesondere Cyclopentyl, Cyclohexyl, Cycloheptyl und Cyclooctyl.
- Bevorzugte Verbindungen der Formel I sind solche, worin R&sub2; C&sub1;-C&sub4;Alkyl und R&sub3; durch ein oder zwei O-Atome unterbrochenes C&sub1;-C&sub5;Alkyl oder C&sub5;-C&sub8;Cycloalkyl ist. Besonders bevorzugt sind Verbindungen der Formel I worin R&sub2; i- oder n-Propyl ist. Weitere besonders bevorzugte Verbindungen der Formel I sind solche, worin R&sub3; eine Gruppe der Formel -(CH&sub2;CH&sub2;O)&sub2;CH&sub3; oder C&sub5;-C&sub8;cycloalkyl ist.
- Es ist darauf hinzuweisen, daß die Verbindungen der Formel I auch in der isomeren Form der Formel (IA) auftreten können:
- worin R&sub2; und R&sub3; die oben angegebenen Bedeutungen haben.
- Die Verbindungen der Formel I sind als Klasse bekannt und von Katritzky et al. in J. Chem. Soc. Perkin Trans 1 1987, S. 791-7 beschrieben worden.
- Darin beschreiben Katritzky et al. Addukte von Benzotriazol und Aldehyden der Formel (II)
- worin R Wasserstoff, Alkyl oder Aryl ist, z.B. Methyl, Ethyl, Propyl, Isopropyl, Butyl, t-Butyl,,(CH&sub2;)&sub5;CH&sub3; oder (CH&sub2;)&sub7;CH&sub3;.
- Allerdings findet sich bei Katrizky et al. weder eine Offenbarung von noch ein Hinweis auf die Verbindungen der Formeln
- [1-(1-CycloC&sub5;-C&sub8;alkyloxybutyl)-tolyltriazole] und besonders die Verbindung der Formel
- [1-(1-cyclohexyloxybutyl)-tolyltriazole]. Diese neuen Verbindungen stellen eine weitere Ausführungsform der vorliegenden Erfindung dar.
- Beispiele für Verbindungen der Formel I sind u.a.:

- Die Verbindungen der Formel I können nach der von Katritzky et al. angegebenen Methode hergestellt werden, nämlich durch säurekatalysierte Kondensation von i) Tolyltriazol der Formel (III):
- mit ii) einem Aldehyd der Formel R&sub2;CHO (IV) worin R&sub2; die oben angegebenen Bedeutungen hat, und mit iii) einem Alkohol der Formel R&sub3;OH (V) worin R&sub3; die oben angegebenen Bedeutungen hat.
- Die Kondensation wird zweckmäßig durch Erhitzen ungefähr äquimolarer Mengen der Reaktanden der Formeln (III), (IV) und (V) in einem bei Reaktionsbedingungen inerten Lösungsmittel durchgeführt, während kontiniuierlich eine azeotrope Mischung von Lösungsmittel und Reaktionswasser entfernt wird.
- geeignete saure Katalysatoren sind beispielsweise Mineralsäuren, z.B. Schwefelsäure; saure Tonerden, z.B. Bentonit, Montmorillonit oder Fullererde; saure Ionenaustauschlarze, z.B. Amberlyst 15; und Sulfonsäurean, z.B. p-Toluolsulfonsäure.
- Das inerte Lösungsmittel kann z.B. Cyclohexan, Benzol, Toluol, Xylol oder Tetrachlorkohlenstoff sein.
- Als Grundschmiermittel der Zusammensetzung der vorliegenden Erfindung kommen mineralische oder synthetische Schmiermittel in Frage, im letzteren Fall z.B. Carbonsäureester, besonders solche für den Gebrauch bei Temperaturen von 200ºC oder mehr, oder Mischungen davon.
- Beispiele für synthetische Carbonsäureester sind u.a. solche auf der Basis eines Diesters einer zweiwertigen Säure mit einem einwertigen Alkohol, wie z.B. Dioctylsebacat oder Dinonyladipat, eines Triesters von Trimethylolpropan mit einer einwertigen Säure oder mit einem Gemisch solcher Säuren, wie z.B. Trimethylolpropantripelargonat, Trimethylolpropan-tricaprylat oder Gemische davon, eines Tetraesters von Pentaerythrit mit einer einwertigen Säure oder mit einem Gemisch solcher Säuren, wie z.B. Pentaerythrit-tetracaprylat, oder eines komplexen Esters von einwertigen und zweiwertigen Säuren mit mehrwertigen Alkoholen, z.B. ein komplexer Ester von Trimethylolpropan mit Capryl- und Sebacinsäure; oder auf der Basis von Gemischen solcher Carbonsäureester.
- Weitere Schmiermittel und synthetische Schmiermittel, z.B. Phosphate, Glykole, Polyglykole, Polyalkylenglykole und poly-alpha-olefine sind z.B. in Schewe-Kobek, "Das Schmiermittel-Taschenbuch" (Dr. Alfred Hüthig-Verlag, Heidelberg, 1974) und in Dieter Klamann, "Schmierstoffe und verwandte Produkte" (Verlag Chemie, Weinheim, 1982), S. 158-174) beschrieben,
- Bevorzugt sind Schmiermittel auf der Basis von Mineralölen.
- Die Zusammensetzungen der vorliegenden Erfindung enthalten bevorzugt 0.01 bis 5.0, insbesondere 0.02 bis 1.0 Gewichtsprozent mindestens einer Verbindung der Formel I, bezogen auf das Gewicht des Schmiermittels.
- Die erfindungsgemäßen Schmierstoffzusammensetzungen können zusätzlich zu den Verbindungen der Formel I andere Additive enthalten, die zugegeben werden, um ihre Grundeigenschaften noch weiter zu verbessern; dazu gehören; weitere Antioxidantien, wie phenolische, aminische und sonstige Antioxidantien, weitere Metallpassivatoren, Rostinhibitoren, Viskositätsindex-Verbesserer, Stockpunkterniedriger, Dispergiermittel, Detergentien, und Antiverschleiß-Additive.
- 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol, 2,6-Di-tert-butylphenol, 2-tert-Butyl-4,6-dimethylphenol, 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-ethylphenol, 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-n- butylphenol, 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-i-butylphenol, 2,6-Di-cyclopentyl-4-methylphenol, 2-(b-Methylcyclohexyl)-4,6-di-methylphenol, 2,6-Di-octadecyl-4-methylphenol, 2,4,6-Tri-cyclohexylphenol, 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-methoxymethylphenol, o-tert-Butylphenol.

- Triazole, Benzotriazole und deren Derivate, Tolutriazol und dessen Derivate, 2-Mercaptobenzothiazol, 2,5-Dimercaptothiadiazol, 4,4'-Methylen-bis-benzotriazol, 4,5,6,7-Tetrahydro-benzotriazol, Salicyliden-propylendiamin und Salicylamino-guanidin und deren Salze.
- a) Organische Säuren, ihre Ester, Metallsalze und Anhydride, N-Oleoyl-sarcosin, Sorbitan-mono-oleat, Blei-naphthenat, Alkenylbernsteinsäure und -anhydride, z.B. Dodecenylbernsteinsäure-anhydrid, Bernsteinsäurehalbester und amide, 4-Nonyl-phenoxyessigsäure.
- b) Stickstoffhaltige Verbindunge, z.B.
- I. Primäre, sekundäre oder tertiäre aliphatische oder cycloaliphatische Amine und Amin- Salze von organischen und anorganischen Säuren, z.B. öllösliche Alkylammoniumcarboxylate,
- II. Heterocyclische Verbindungen, z.B.:
- Substituierte Imidazoline und Oxazoline,
- c) Phosphorhaltige Verbindungen, z,B.:
- Aminsalze von Phosphorsäurepartialestern oder Phosphonsäurepartialestern, Zinkdialkyldithiophosphate.
- d) Schwefelhaltige Verbindunge, z.B.:
- Barium-dionylnaphthalin-sulfonate, Calciumpetroleum-sulfonate,
- Polyacrylate, Polymethacrylate, Vinylpyrrolidon/Methacrylat-Copolymere, Polyvinylpyrrolidone, Polybutene, Olefin-Copolymere, Styrol/Acrylat-Copolymere, Polyether.
- Polymethacrylate, alkylierte Naphthalinderivate.
- Polybutenylbernsteinsäureamide oder -imide, Polybutenylphosphonsäurederivate, basische Magnesium-, Calcium-, und Bariumsulfonate und -phenolate.
- Schwefel und/oder Phosphor und/oder Halogen enthaltende Verbindungen, wie geschwefelte pflanzliche Öle, Zinkdialkyldithiophosphate, Tritolylphosphate, chlorierte Paraffine, Alkyl- und Aryldi- und tri-sulfide, Triphenylphosphorothionat, Diethanolaminomethyl- tolutriazol, Di(2-ethylhexyl)-aminomethyltolutriazol.
- Von besonderem Interesse sind Co-Additivkombinationen einer oder mehrerer Verbindungen der Formel I mit einem phenolischen Antioxidans , z.B. tert.-butyliertem Phenol, oder Mischungen davon, und/oder einem aminischen Antioxidans, z.B. di-tert-Octyldiphenylamin, vor allem die Kombination, welche im Europäischen Patent Nr. 149422 beschrieben wird.
- Die Erfindung betrifft auch ein Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Schmierstoffes mit metallpassivierenden und Antioxidans-Eigenschaften, wobei zu dem genannten Schmierstoff eine wirksame Menge einer Verbindung der Formel I, wie oben beschrieben, zugefügt wird.
- Die folgenden Beispiele erläutern die vorliegende Erfindung näher. Die Verbindungen der Beispiele 1 und 3 bis 5 sind neu. Die Verbindungen eignen sich als Stabilisatoren für die Schmierstoffzusammensetzungen der vorliegenden Erfindung.
- Prozent- und Teileangaben beziehen sich auf das Gewicht, sofern nicht anders angegeben.
- Eine Mischung von 133 Teilen Tolyltriazol, 79.3 Teilen n-Butyraldehyd, 100.1 Teilen Cyclohexanol und 1.3 Teilen para-Toluosulfonsäure wird in 600 Teilen Cyclohexan unter gleichzeitiger azeotroper Entfernung des Reaktionswassers erhitzt. Nach 2 Stunden ist die Reaktion abgeschlossen. Nach Abkühlen auf Raumtemperatur wird die Reaktionsmischung nacheinander mit verdünnter Sodalösung und Wasser gewaschen und über wasserfreiem Magnesiumsulfat getrocknet. Nach Filtration wird unter vermindertem Druck eingedampft und dann im Vakuum (100ºC/4 Pa) destilliert. Man erhält 262.9 Teile (91.5 %) 1-(1-cyclohexyloxybutyl)tolyltriazol als gelbes Öl. - Nach der in Beispiel 1 beschriebenen Methode werden Verbindungen der folgenden Formeln hergestellt: Beispiele 2: Ausbeute: 76 % Sdp. = 145ºC/8 Pa Beispiel 3: Ausbeute = 80 % Sdp. = 150ºC/3 Pa
- Analysis:
- C&sub1;&sub6;H&sub2;&sub3;N&sub3;O Ber. C 70.30 %; H 8.48 %; N 15.37 %;
- Gef. C 70.49 %; H 8.48 %; N 15.79 % Beispiel 4: Ausbeute = 76 % Sdp. 55ºC/4 Pa
- Analysis:
- C&sub1;&sub8;H&sub2;&sub7;N&sub3;O Ber. C 71.72 %; H 9.03 %; N 13.94 %; Gef. C 71.65 %; H 9.43 %; N 13.90 % Beispiel 5: Ausbeute = 89 % Sdp. 155ºC/2 Pa
- Analysis:
- C&sub1;&sub9;H&sub2;&sub9;N&sub3;O Ber. C 72.34 %; H 9.27 %; N 13.32 %; Gef. C 72.30 %; H 9.60 %; N 13.93 %
- Es wird eine 0.05 %ige Lösung der Testverbindung in einem Mineralöl von Turbinenqualität (Viskosität 26.2 mm²/s bei 40ºC, 4.8 mm² at 100ºC, S-Gehalt 0.54 %), in dem 50 ppm elementarer Schwefel gelöst sind, bereitet.
- Ein Kupferstreifen (60x10x1 mm) wird mit auf einem mit Petrolether getränkten Wattebauch aufgenommenem Siliziumcarbid-Schleifsand (Körnung 100) poliert und sofort ganz in die vorbereitete Lösung getaucht, die 2 Stunden lang bei 100ºC gehalten wird. Dann wird der Streifen herausgenommen, mit Petrolether gewaschen, getrocknet und mit denen der ASTM D-130 Copper Strip Corrosion Standard Chart farblich verglichen.
- Die Ergebnisse sind in der folgenden Tabelle zusammen gefaßt: Test Verbdg. Produkt von Beispiel Nr. ASTM D-130 Note (ohne Additiv)
- Note 1 bedeutet leichten Beschlag, 2 deutlichen Beschlag, 3 dunklen Beschlag, and 4 starke Korrosion. Die Buchstaben, A, B, C und D werden zur Abstufung innerhalb der breiten Zahlenbereiche verwendet.
- Die Ergebnisse der Tabelle zeigen die hervorragende Testergebnisse, die mit den Zusammensetzungen der vorliegenden Erfindung erzielt werden.
- Es wird eine 0.05 %ige Lösung der Testverbindung in einem Mineralöl von Turbinenqualität (Viskosität 26.2 mm²/s bei 40ºC, 4.8 mm² at 100ºC, S-Gehalt 0.54 %), das ferner ein phenolisches oder ein aminische Antioxidans oder je eins der beiden Arten enthält, bereitet.
- Die Zeit bis zum Abfall des Sauerstoffdruckes in der Bombe um mehr als 175 kPa unter den Maximaldruck wird gemessen.
- Die Ergebnisse finden sich in der folgenden Tabelle: Produkt v. Beisp. Nr. Antioxidans A Antioxidans B RBOT min bis 175 kPa Druckabfall (Öl allein) Antioxidans A ist ein kommerziell erhältliches Gemisch von tert-butylierten Phenolen. Antioxidant B ist ein kommerziell erhältliches di-tert-octyliertes Diphenylamin.
- Die Ergebnisse zeigen, daß bei Anwendung zusammen mit einem weiteren aminischen oder phenolischen Antioxidans die Stabilisatoren der Formel I synergistisch antioxidative Wirkung in den erfindungsgemäßen Schmiermittelzusammensetzungen aufweisen.
Claims (12)
1. Schmiermittelzusammensetzungen, enthaltend ein Grundschmiermittel und als
Metallpassivator und/oder Antioxidans mindestens eine Verbindung der Formel (I),
worin
R&sub2; geradkettiges oder verzweigtes C&sub1;-C&sub1;&sub2;Alkyl ist, und
R&sub3; durch eines oder mehrere O-Atome unterbrochenes geradkettiges oder verzweigtes
C&sub1;-C&sub1;&sub2;Alkyl oder C&sub5;-C&sub1;&sub2;Cycloalkyl darstellt.
2. Schmiermittelzusammensetzungen nach Anspruch 1, worin
R&sub2; C&sub1;-C&sub4;Alkyl und R&sub3; durch ein oder zwei O-Atome unterbrochenes C&sub1;-C&sub5;Alkyl oder
C&sub5;-C&sub8;Cycloalkyl ist.
3. Schmiermittelzusammensetzungen nach Anspruch 1, worin
R&sub2; i- oder n-Propyl ist und worin R&sub3; eine Gruppe der Formel -(CH&sub2;CH&sub2;O)&sub2;CH&sub3; oder
C&sub5;-C&sub8;Cycloalkyl ist.
4. Schmiermittelzusammensetzungen nach anspruch 1, worin das
Grundschmiermittel ein Carbonsäureester oder worin das
Grundschmiermittel mineralischen Ursprungs ist.
5. Schmiermittelzusammensetzungen nach Anspruch 1, worin die Verbindung der formel
I zu 0.01 bis 5 % Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf das Gewicht des Grundschmiermittels,
vorhanden ist.
6. Schmiermittelzusammensetzungen nach Anspruch 5, worin
die Verbindung der Formel 1 zu 0.02 bis 1 % Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf das Gewicht
des Grundschmiermittels, vorhanden ist.
7. Schmiermittelzusammensetzungen nach Anspruch 1, die zusätzlich eines oder mehrere
weitere Additive aus der Gruppe der Antioxidantien, der Metallpassivatoren, der
Korrosionsinhibitoren, der Viskositätsindexverbesserer, der Stockpunkterniedriger, der
Detergentien/Tenside und der Verschleißschutzmittel enthält.
8. Schmiermittelzusammensetzungen anch Anspruch 7, worin das zusätzliche
Antioxidans ein aminisches oder ein phenolisches Antioxidans oder eine Mischung von
beiden ist.
9. Schmiermittelzusammensetzungen nach Anspruch 8, worin das phenolische
Antioxidans eines oder mehrere tert.-butylierte Phenole ist.
10. Schmiermittelzusammensetzungen nach Anspruch 8, worin das aminische Antioxidans
eines oder mehrere tert.-octylierte Diphenylamine ist.
11. 1-(1-CycloC&sub5;-C&sub8;alkyloxybutyl)-tolyltriazol-Verbindungen der Formel:
12. Verbindung nach Anspruch 11, 1-(1-cyclohexyloxybutyl)tolyltriazol der Formel:
