Process for impregnating fibrous materials and fabrics with aqueous
Rubber dispersions using wetting agents in the preparation of such
Articles of daily use in which the valuable properties of rubber are used
Impact should come, such. B. rubber tubes, car and bicycle tires,
Waterproof materials, insulating compounds and others, it is often necessary to have a sufficient
mechanical strength to: achieve the rubber in association with fibers,
such as B. cotton, linen, jute or asbestos spun or fabric.
This can be done so that the fiber materials with an aqueous rubber dispersion
treated and then dried. On the rubberized surfaces
if necessary additional rubber material is applied, and the whole thing is finally
if necessary vulcanized. When using such a rubber dispersion
but shows the disadvantage that this coagulates on the surface of the fiber
and does not penetrate into the interior of the fiber or only with great difficulty. Consequently
the rubber coating that forms after the dispersion has dried only adheres
bad on the fiber and can be easily restored by mechanical treatment
from her: remove.
It has therefore already been proposed for the rubber dispersion
Add wetting agents: The well-known wetting agents used for this purpose by
of the group of the alkylarylsulphonic acid salts, although their lime or magnesium salts
are easily soluble in water, not the property. when using hard
Water to prevent premature flocculation of the rubber dispersions. never
Bile salts which have already been proposed for this purpose are unstable
against the hardness components of water and therefore only when using distilled water
or soft water.
According to the invention are used for treating the fibrous materials
Rubber dispersions are the condensation products of higher fatty acids and high molecular weight
Protein breakdown products are added as a wetting agent, as used by the French
749 228 are available. These wetting agents have the advantage in their
Use in hard water where they are resistant to premature coagulation
to prevent the rubber dispersions, so that-their use even in hard water
is possible.
One can also proceed in such a way that the fibrous materials are mixed with the solutions
of condensation products of higher fatty acids and high molecular weight protein breakdown products
impregnated and then treated these preprocessed fibers with the rubber dispersion.
