Firma Leonhard Kurz in Fürth, Bayern Verfahren zur Herstellung einer Prägefolie Leonhard Kurz company in Fürth, Bavaria Process for the production of an embossing foil
Zusatz zum Patent 5S8Addition to patent 5S8
Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 2. Februar 1934 ab Das Hauptpatent hat angefangen am 14. Juni 1931·Patented in the German Empire on February 2, 1934 The main patent started on June 14, 1931
bekannter durchprägefähiger Träger in Blattoder Bandform, z.
sind;According to the main patent, an embossing foil is produced by using a known embossable carrier in sheet or tape form, e.g. B. from paper, from the cellulose skin known under the trademark protected Xamen cellophane or from similar film masses, in a known way by chemical reduction of the metals suitable for this purpose, eg. B. gold, silver, platinum, directly or with the interposition of a preferably colored enamel layer and the mirror coating is provided with a known, suitable for embossing, preferably colored primer.
It has now been found that
ι. the metal layer deposited by chemical reduction on the solidified enamel layer on its side lying on the enamel layer, which is the face side after the embossing. leaves a lot to be desired in terms of smoothness and thus high gloss, because the metal particles seem to have penetrated somewhat into the enamel layer;
2. eine Schmelzschicht aus Wachs oder wachsähnlichen Stoffen an diesem oder jenem Punkt sich gegen das Reduzierbad abweisend verhielt und die auf diese Punkte niedergeschlagenen Metallteilchen dann einen so geringen Zusammenhalt hatten, daß sie sich leicht von der fertigen Prägung abreiben ließen, während umgekehrt die Metallteilchen beim Prägen sich von harzigen Schmelzschichten zuweilen stellenweise nicht ablösten und beim Abziehen des Trägers durch die wieder erstarrte Schmelzschicht punktweise aus der übrigen Metallschicht herausgerissen wurden, so daß auch deshalb manchmal Fehlprägungen entstanden;2. an enamel layer of wax or wax-like substances on this or that point was repellent to the reducing bath and that on these points The cohesion of the precipitated metal particles was so poor that they could easily be rubbed off from the finished embossing, while conversely the metal particles When embossing, the resinous enamel layers sometimes did not come off in places and when the carrier is peeled off through the re-solidified layer of enamel point by point were torn out of the rest of the metal layer, so that for this reason sometimes incorrect embossings developed;
3. auch die beim Prägen Iückenfrei von der Schmelzschicht abgelöste Metallschicht gegen Abreibungsversuche, wie sie beim Schreiben mit Bleistiften, deren Holzumhüllung beprägt ist, oder mit beprägten Reklamefederhaltern oder Füllfederhaltern durch die Haut der schreibenden Hand fortgesetzt ausgeübt werden, nicht lange genug widerstandsfähig sind;3. Also the embossing without gaps from the Enamel layer detached metal layer against attempts at abrasion, such as when writing with pencils, the wooden cover of which is embossed, or with embossed advertising pens or fountain pens continued to be exercised through the skin of the writing hand, not long enough resilient are;
4. chemisch niedergeschlagene Metallschichten aus Silber oder stark silberhaltigen Legierungen nach ihrem Aufprägen unter den Einflüssen der Atmosphäre und Feuchtigkeit bald braun oder schwärzlich anliefen oder korrodierten.4. chemically deposited metal layers made of silver or those with a high silver content Alloys after their imprint under the influences of the atmosphere and moisture soon turned brown or blackish or corroded.
B. einer Cellulose-All of these undesirable phenomena are eliminated in accordance with the present invention remedied that on the enamel layer sitting on the embossable carrier, preferably on an enamel layer of wax, by known application of any known film former, e.g. B. a cellulose
Diese Haut soll im folgenden kurz Lackhaut genannt werden.e ^ ter solution (acetyl, nitrocellulose, (.'e'.tuloid solution, Zapon varnish ") or synthetic resin solution or a resin varnish, a thin, hard skin that is as smooth as possible is created and only this is chemically mirrored. These In the following, skin will be called varnish skin for short.
Gegenüber der chemischen VerspiegelungCompared to the chemical mirror coating
der Schmelzschicht werden die folgendenof the enamel layer become the following
ίο Vorteile erzielt: ·ίο benefits achieved: ·
The metal layer chemically deposited on the paint skin is deposited on its later face side as smooth as the lacquer skin itself and therefore much more high-gloss than on the solidified enamel layer.
The metal particles are completely removed from all I-points of this" lacquer skin equally thin stratification assumed and held. When embossing, the high-gloss Metal layer trapped between the primer and the paint skin. An unreliable peeling of the metal layer from the enamel layer is therefore out of the question, while the varnish skin is very easily detached from the enamel layer.
After the embossing, the paint skin for the metal layer forms a known one Protective skin that protects the metal layer against tarnishing in moist air and in particular protects against the fact that they, in the Holzumhülluiig imprinted by pencils etc., rubbed off the skin of the writing hand. Even hand sweat damages the metal layer not because it does not penetrate the metal layer through the paint skin can.
Packaging that is used for packaging and is to be decorated by embossing, not chemically deposited Metal foils are already one-sided or both-sided with a reinforcing Coating made of cellulose derivatives has been provided. The so overdone. Metal skin is proportionate as a result of the thick coatings secured against tearing, crumpling and corrosion. The varnish skin has no influence on the formation of a particularly smooth metal layer, because the paint is applied to the metal foil that has already been finished in some other way. In the method according to the invention, the .Metallschicht in applied while still wet to the completely dried and hardened varnish skin, whose smoothness, as I said, it assumes. The paint only becomes liquid here the solidified enamel layer is applied.
As a binder for the paint or bronze of peel-off embossing foils, one probably also has Resins such as shellac, rosin, synthetic resins or similar adhesives have already been used. These envelop the paint or bronze in a watertight manner and protect the embossing Influences of the atmosphere and humidity. It is precisely because of this envelopment that they become blunt however, experience has shown that the shine of the 5g bronze is reduced. whereas the one after the present Invention to me superficially at the later The visible side of the .Metal layer sitting lacquer skin increases the gloss of the metal layer because it does not penetrate into this and, on the contrary, the metal layer presses itself flat against it. the Liquid binders mixed with the bronze, on the other hand, can be arranged next to one another as smooth as a mirror the bronze dust on a smooth surface, like glass skin, is not force. On the contrary, they hinder the metal dust in its efforts to do this to do. because they envelop them just during the drying process and afterwards. Furthermore a bronze powder film itself is never as smooth and shiny as a film with chemically deposited noble metal, which according to the designation is exclusively acts.
It is also known to apply a layer of paint dried on a glass plate in front of it Peel off for beautification or to apply a layer of collodion or zapon varnish for protection, to give the film an enamel-like sheen, but this layer of varnish also has it has no effect on the smoothness of the already dry, i.e. hard, paint surface more. As a result, there is the rough color surface that has not been facing the glass plate according to the embossing on the front side.
It can be according to the invention in itself known way by choosing a golden yellow, transparent lacquer skin with a silver embossing for an unlimited duration a gold imitate embossing. The downcast shines through a light yellow lacquer skin reddish yellow pure gold lights, z. B. like lemon gold, through. Green and red lacquer skins give the pure gold embossing or one Silver or platinum embossing a correspondingly colored, radiant fire.
On the drawing is shown in Fig. 1 graphically, in which order of down up the various inscribed layers in the manufacture of the Embossing foil can be applied.
Fig. 2 leaves im. perpendicular cut facing the hot stamp for embossing recognize the imprinted film with 115 reversed layering.
Fig. 3 shows that after embossing only the primer, the metal layer and the lacquer skin remains on the item to be embossed, while the carrier and the enamel layer and peeled off the part of the film not hit by the stamp.
