Description
.Process for the production of crease-resistant textile fabrics found that crease-resistant finishes on textile fabrics, especially on artificial silk fabrics, can be produced by the fact that the fabric with an aqueous solution of a mixture from a lower aliphatic aldehyde, an acid or an acid-splitting aldehyde Compound and a water-soluble, ethereal condensation product of a polyvalent lower aliphatic alcohol or polyvinyl alcohol or a water-soluble one Esters or ethers of these alcohols are impregnated and the fabric then subjected to a heat treatment subjugated at about ioo to i i o °. Examples of such alcoholic products are called: polyvinyl alcohol, ethoxylated polyvinyl alcohol, polyglycerine, polyglycol. One can proceed as follows, for example: An artificial silk fabric is made with an aqueous solution: containing polyvinyl alcohol, formaldehyde and hydrochloric acid, . Impregnated, dried and then subjected to a heat treatment. This gives a wrinkle-resistant fabric that is elastic and flowing and particularly stands out a soft grip from those impregnated to prevent creasing according to the usual methods Tissues are advantageous. .
Another advantage of this process is that it can be used for post-treatment a heat treatment at the temperatures usual in the textile industry only for short time is required to achieve a good effect. In contrast, have to in the previously known processes, considerably higher temperatures are used, as a result, discolouration and breakage of the textile material can hardly be avoided is.
