Description

Use of an aluminum-magnesium-iron alloy as the material for machine parts with sliding movement The invention relates to the use of light metal alloys, consisting of aluminum, magnesium and a wanted one Addition of iron as a material for machine parts with sliding movement.

Aluminum-magnesium alloys with a deliberate addition of Irons are known per se. They have better mechanical properties than Aluminum-magnesium alloys without added iron; in particular is their strength, their density and suppleness greater.

In-depth experiments on the sliding properties of aluminum-magnesium alloys have now given away the sliding properties of these alloys by a certain amount Addition of iron can also be improved considerably; in particular has shown up; that the strength decreases only slightly with increasing temperature (high Heat resistance). Alloys have proven to be particularly advantageous in this regard from about 0.1 to 10% magnesium, 0.5 to 10% iron; The remainder aluminum. Such alloys are therefore particularly suitable as a material for machine parts with sliding movement, e.g. B. for bearing shells, guides, pistons and the like, in particular when a high specific load capacity of these parts is required. As a result the relatively great flexibility of a material of the composition mentioned offers its use mainly for machine parts with sliding motion then great advantages if these machine parts also have a certain flexibility should own, as z. B. with basic bearings for the crankshafts of engines is required. For example, an alloy of about 0.5% magnesium, 6% iron, the remainder aluminum as a plain bearing material, especially in such difficult cases excellently proven.
