Description
Material for machine parts with sliding movement. The invention relates to a material for machine parts with sliding movement, consisting of aluminum, copper, zinc and a deliberate addition of iron.
Aluminum-copper-zinc alloys with a deliberate addition of iron are known per se. They are characterized by good mechanical properties, in particular by great hardness and strength with good elongation for a cast alloy.
In-depth studies of light metal alloys, consisting of 1-12% Cu, 1-12% Zn, 2-10% Fe and 96-66% aluminum, have shown that these alloys not only have the good mechanical properties mentioned , but also have very good sliding properties and only a small decrease in strength with increasing temperature (high heat resistance). These alloys are therefore particularly suitable as material for machine parts with sliding movement, for example for bearings, guides, pistons and the like.
It has been shown that particularly good sliding properties are achieved with this new material if it contains copper and zinc in approximately equal amounts by weight.
For example, an alloy containing about 8% Cu, 8% Zn, 6% Fe, the remainder aluminum, has proven to be an excellent sliding bearing material. A similar alloy, containing 11 Cu, 11% Zn, 2i% Fe, the remainder aluminum, it is also an excellent sliding bearing material with a high load capacity.
