Copper-zinc alloy, especially for the manufacture of machine parts subject to sliding stress. The replacement of tin-containing copper alloys with tin-free alloys with a number of other alloy components has been a problem for which a wide variety of solutions have been recommended in the last 10 to 20 years. Since the copper-tin alloys, i.e. H.
So the bronzes have found and are still being used for numerous purposes, many tin-free alloys had to be developed to replace the more expensive tin-containing alloys. However, these new alloys only partially achieve the good properties of copper -Tin alloys.
Probably the most important area in which tin-containing copper alloys were predominant is that: bearings. Even if some zinc-containing copper alloys are now used for storage purposes, it is still believed today that with heavily loaded bearings and, above all,; even at high speeds, the shaft only used copper-tin alloys with at least 8 to 9% tin.
The same applies to other machine parts subject to sliding stress, such as B. worm wheels, gears, sliding blocks, etc.
In the case of zinc-containing copper alloys, especially those containing manganese in addition to silicon have been used for the same purposes. The known alloys also contain small amounts of aluminum. Some of these known alloys also contain lead in order to achieve better sliding properties.
The present invention relates to a copper-zinc alloy, in particular for the production of machine parts subject to sliding, such as. B. bearings, worm wheels, gears, sliding blocks and the like chen, characterized in that it contains 2-8 aluminum, 0.05-3A silicon, 0.5-10% manganese and 50-70% copper.
The alloy according to the invention differs from the known alloys in that it has a relatively low copper content, and it also has better sliding properties compared with the known alloys while being economically the same. The copper content of the new alloy is 50-70%. With further contents of 2-8% aluminum, 0.05-3% silicon and 0,
5-10% manganese, the rest can consist of zinc. However, the alloy can still contain: up to 10% lead and 0.1-5% iron, nickel and cobalt, each of which is metal individually or in addition several can be added. The individual additives are expediently followed in such a way that the alloy neither becomes too brittle nor has unfavorable sliding properties.
In other words, the highest levels of aluminum or silicon must not be present with the lowest copper contents, but these maximum contents are of course only permissible for the maximum contents of copper. Since manganese and nickel can replace copper in copper-zinc alloys, these components can also be present at lower copper contents.
Above all, the Niekel is important in cases in which relatively high lead additions are to be made with low copper contents, since, as is well known, the nickel favors the regular distribution of the lead in copper alloys. Cobalt can take the place of nickel in whole or in part. Iron can be present in all alloys possible according to the invention in the amount in which it is present as an impurity.
Appropriate compositions of copper-zinc alloys according to the invention are shown in the following list.
The individual groups contain manganese in the amount of. 0.5-8%, regardless of the respective level of the copper content.

The lead-containing alloys are also particularly suitable for the production of all kinds of bearing bushes on automobiles. The purpose of the addition of lead in these alloys is not only to have a favorable effect on the storage properties, but also to improve the ability to be machined.
The tubes for the production of bushes can either be cast or pressed on the extrusion press. Only those alloys with a lower lead content are suitable for this process. The alloys are very well suited for the production of centrifugal cast bodies, such as rings and cylinders, for the production of such bushings whose diameters are too large for the extrusion process.
Furthermore, pressed parts from the alloys according to the invention can be produced, which: but the use of alloys with the lowest possible lead content is a prerequisite.
Advantageously, the alloy according to the invention is subjected to a heat treatment which consists in quenching after heating to 700-800 ° C., where its mechanical properties and also its sliding properties are considerably improved. A further improvement can be achieved if the quenching is followed by rewarming at a temperature of 200-500 C for more than three hours.
