schräg zueinander angeordneten, selbständig polarisierenden Prismen besteht, so
Penumbral polarizer In the main patent is a penumbral polarizer
indicated with vanishing dividing line for strictly linearly polarized light,
the feature of which is that it consists of two visually adjacent and
there is independently polarizing prisms arranged obliquely to one another, so
that the end faces of at least one prism at an angle smaller than 9o ° to
optical axis and .due between the used, entering the prisms
Light bundle a wedge-shaped, optically dead space is present, and that the
Lighting for the dividing line is regular.
Such a polarizer has properties that vary according to its application
and stress can be an advantage or a disadvantage. As a particular disadvantage,
which is in those cases in which relatively strongly diverging or converging
If a bundle of rays is used, it should be noted that the contact surfaces
of the two independently polarizing prisms not by means of diaphragms and suitable ones
Beam guidance can be protected from irradiation, thus becoming secondary emitters
and reflect diffuse light. The latter is z. T. on each of the cement layers
of the individual halves of the main prisms reflected as ordinary light and directed towards
of the extraordinary light, swinging perpendicular to it, mixed with it.
When set to equality in penumbra, this becomes neat
Light but transmitted by the analyzer prisrria with almost maximum strength while
the light resulting in the penumbra is almost extinguished, so that even traces of the
the former, especially with a small penumbra angle, a not to be neglected
Percentage of light to add to the penumbra light and a damaging one
Brighten the field of vision.
In
Neben die4xhregelrechten
With the invention, this deficiency is eliminated by adding the putty layer
between the two sub-prisms of the main prisms is shifted by 90 °. so that you
no longer parallel to the dividing line, as with the main patent, but rather horizontally
to the dividing line. It can then go through like a normal polarizing prism
suitable arrangement of diaphragms and suitable beam guidance are ensured,
that the area under consideration now receives no lighting, thus
nor can it radiate secondary, which is the case with the one composed of individual prisms
Penumbral prism in its original form is not possible.
In
Fig. i shows the prism in plan view again in the form according to the main patent
shown, and the beam path is shown schematically. In addition to the 4x legal rights
But the beam path becomes auiüli: -: still light from the used shining surface
(Light source). Past the edges of the diaphragm i2 in the direction of the rays
13 run, so that then diffusely reflected secondary light from the contact surface
between the two individual prisms starting at the putty area between the individual halves
each main prism is regularly reflected. Then the above-mentioned occur
Rays 13 as undesirable ordinary light, the extraordinary light 16
mixed in, out.
To the left of Fig. I, a cross-section along the line AB through this prism according to the main patent is indicated in the drawings, in .dein one can clearly see how the cement layer 15 runs parallel to the dividing line denoted by T.
In .der Fig. 2 is the prism according to the invention, which is essentially
has the same basic shape as the prism according to the main patent, in a middle one
Longitudinal section shown, d. H. so in the plane of the contact surface 14, between
cut through the two main prisms. It is clear from this figure,
that the cemented surfaces 15 are no longer perpendicular to the individual halves, d. H. so
parallel to the dividing line, but, running horizontally to the dividing line, like
it also in the cross-section indicated on the left of Fig. 2 through the prism
'the invention is clearly recognizable. Because of this twisting r, dec putty surfaces can
the above-mentioned Re - *; 6zion on the contact surfaces 14 and the "1 <-ittflächen
now no longer occur, but at most one or the other of the
Outer surfaces 17 receive light, which is then radiated secondary to the cemented surfaces
is reflected. Through the correct arrangement of diaphragms 18 with suitable beam guidance
but this deficiency can easily be eliminated without further ado.
