Process for the production of acid and lime-resistant derivatives
unsaturated oxy fatty acids In patent 591 196 is a process for conversion
from unsaturated fatty acids or their esters into acid and lime-resistant, genuine ones
Described sulfonation products containing sulfonic acid groups, which consists in
that on unsaturated fatty acids or their esters fuming sulfuric acid in
Allow excess to act. In this process, as far as oxy fatty acids are concerned
is, the excess of fuming sulfuric acid is very considerable, that for the production
technically usable products is required. In addition there is the further evil,
that the use of the large amounts of sulfuric acid as a result of the associated
high viscosity of the reaction mass causes difficulties in processing.
It has now been found that these evils can be eliminated at the same time

Oleum einlaufen.

Example t zoo kg of castor oil are mixed with 3o to 40 kg of glacial acetic acid and cooled to 0 to to '. First 40 to 60 kg of about 27% oleum and then 15 kg of acetic anhydride and further about 50 kg of 27% oleum are run into this mixture in a thin stream. The mixture is left to stir until a sample taken shows the desired degree of sulfonation. The finished melt is then poured onto ice and water, advantageously with the addition of Glauber's salt. pressed. The dilute aqueous solution obtained is with. Sodium hydroxide solution neutralized and evaporated to the desired concentration. After filtration of the salts which crystallized out on cooling, a clear, light brownish oil results which in its properties corresponds to the product obtained according to example a of patent 59i 196 and differs from it only in its significantly lighter color. Example z In a mixture of 10 kg of castor oil and 40 kg of glacial acetic acid, 5 kg of 25 to 30% oleum are allowed to run in the same way as described in Example i. The finished melt is pressed into ice and water with the addition of sulfate, whereby two layers are formed. The upper layer containing the sulfo fatty acids is lifted off, neutralized with sodium hydroxide solution and the solution, if necessary, by evaporation. to the desired concentration. brought. After removing the crystallized. Salts, a clear yellowish oil of similar properties to the product obtained according to Example i is obtained.
i erhaltene Produkt. :Beispiel q. i oo kg D ehydroricinolsäure (F. E, r b- a n ,
i angegeben.
nach Beispiel i erhaltene Produkt. If the castor oil used in the examples is replaced by the corresponding amount of free oxyfatty acids or anhydride thereof, analogous products are obtained with the same procedure, the properties of which also come close to those obtained according to the examples. EXAMPLE 3 A solution of 100 kg of castor oleic acid in 50 g of glacial acetic acid is allowed to run in at from 80 g of 25 to 30% oleum. The finished melt is worked up in the same way as indicated in Example i. A clear, light yellow oil with similar properties to the product obtained according to Example i is obtained. : Example q. 100 kg of dehydroricinoleic acid (F. E, r ban, application of fatty substances in the textile industry, Halle, igii, p. 180) is dissolved in 60 kg of glacial acetic acid and iookg 30% oleum is allowed to cool to the mixture come in. The finished melt is worked up in the same way as indicated in Example i. A clear brown oil with properties similar to the product obtained according to Example i is obtained.
