Description
·The invention relates to a cleaning and polishing agent consisting of porous, soft paper which is impregnated with a polishing agent irxi-'I *. Cleaning and polishing agents of this kind are loosely crumpled up into a fist-sized ball; These are then very well suited for dusting and polishing furniture and the like, as the dust does not fly around, but settles in the porous paper, which is thrown away after use. An oil such as turpentine has been used as a polishing agent to impregnate the soft, porous paper, "which has a cleaning effect on the furniture polish by slightly softening or dissolving the surface of the lacquer layer, making scratches and cracks disappear. Frequent polishing with a cleaning and polishing agent of this known type therefore gradually leads to abrasion of the lacquer coating.
t The present invention overcomes this disadvantage by a paraffin oil is used to impregnate the soft porous paper instead of a läckauflösenden oil. Paraffin oil has the effect of reducing the! Dirt from the paint surface at the same time) applies a thin layer of wax to the paint layer, which fills scratches and small cracks in the paint layer and makes them invisible. The lacquer layer therefore does not dissolve. To speed up the cleaning work, the paraffin oil can be mixed with a mild abrasive, such as. B. calcium carbonate, before it is used to impregnate the paper. A grinding and polishing agent containing an abrasive of this type is particularly suitable for cleaning silverware and other metal objects. ·
For the manufacture of the polishing and cleaning agent of the invention, paper is used, which is soft, porous and unsized, d. H. Paper that is not quite ready is. In particular, so-called water paper has proven to be extremely advantageous.
This paper is impregnated with a paraffin oil, which cleans and polishes Has properties. A paraffin oil, which is available from the Standard Oil Company under the formula P 1045 is launched.
As already noted, calcium carbonate is used as an abrasive. This abrasive is mixed with the paraffin oil and always kept evenly distributed by adding the oil mass is stirred. Preferably, the oil and the abrasive are thereby included united with the paper that the paper is passed through a bath which is made of an emulsion of the oil and the abrasive in enough water and a soap.
Das Wasser und das Schleifmittel werden in derVery good results are achieved if you use the emulsion of 750/0 paraffin oil, 15% Abrasives and 10% water. The water and abrasive are in the
Added to the oil in the form of a slurry, d. H. the abrasive is first with water mixed and then added to the oil.
B. Kieselgur, Bimsstein u. dgl.In addition to calcium carbonate, various other abrasives can be used, such as B. kieselguhr, pumice stone and the like.
The new cleaning and polishing agent can be used for a variety of purposes, such as. B. for cleaning and polishing wood work, furniture, automobiles, silverware, etc. If the cleaning and polishing agent is to be used mainly for polishing metal, then you can increase the percentage of the abrasive, while when used exclusively for Holzwerk, Möbel 1 S and the like, the abrasive can be left out *, that is, the paper is only soaked with paraffin oil.
