ishing fluid and it has for an object to, provide such a fluid which will e'flectively remove all dirt from a surface to which it is applied ish originally applied to the article when it was new. lhe product of this'invention is adapted primarily for the cleaningand polishing of high grade woods such for example, as those used in the manufacture of violins and other musical instruments and the more expensive kinds of furniture but it is to be understood that it also may be used for various other purposes. i
My cleaning and polishing fluid, consists of a mixture of linseed oil (preferably boiled), olive oil, oil of rosemary, glycerine,
, oil of cedar, banana oil and spirits of turpentine.
I have found by many experiments that the best results are obtained from the fluid when it comprises the various elements in substantially the following proportions viz :-3 parts linseedoil (preferably boiled), 1 part olive oil, 1 part oil of rosemary, 4 parts glycerine,
2 parts oil of cedar, 1 part banana oil. and 12 192:8, serial N6; 280,386.
Having thus described my invention what I claim and desire to secure'by Letters Patent A cleaning and polishing fluid comprising the following ingredients in substantially the following proportions, 3 parts linseed oil, 1 part olive oil, 1 part oil of rosemary, 4 parts glycerine, 2 parts oil of cedar, 1 part banana oiland-12parts spirits of turpentine o Inwitness whereof, I hereunto subscribe my name. STEVEN HARDY.
parts spirits of turpentine, but it is to be;
understood that slight variations may be made in the proportions'without departing from theinvention.
These ingredients are thoroughly mixed to- I gether in any suitable or preferred manner and when thoroughly mixed,.the product is 35 ready for use.
In use, a small amountof the fluid is ap plied to the surface to be'cleaned and p01 ished, either by applying it directly thereto and subsequently rubbing witha soft cloth or by applying it to the cloth and then rubbing the surface with the impregnated cloth. Certain elements of the combination act to re move all grease, dirt etc., from the surface and other elements act to renew'the polish 0n the varnish covering the surface or, ifno varnish previously has been applied, to produce a polish on the surface of the wood or other vase to which the fluid is-applied. Certain elements also act'as a varnish preservae tive. The excess fluid is then wipedoifwith N1? OFFICE
