Abstract

A lubricant for the hot-rolling of steel shapes in a rolling mill is described. To maintain the lubricating action even under extreme rolling conditions and to provide a less polluting lubricant, the aqueous solution containing borate and phosphate also contains ethylene glycol, preferably in a proportion of 16 to 50% by weight. Moreover, the aqueous solution can additionally contain a thickener.
