befindlichen Matrizen gleiten.Die setting and line casting machine with circulating
Wires hanging matrices and spaces The invention relates to an improvement
on die setting and line casting machines in one cycle through the machine
guided matrix rods hanging on wires and ring spats, in which the cast
Matrices and spaces are removed from the casting site by a vertically movable slide
brought up to the storage point and then by means of a slider on the
Discarding wires are pushed over from where they are due to their own weight
along the sliding wires running downwards behind those still in the rest position there
located matrices slide.
Previously, the die bars came from the depositing point in such machines
immediately behind the still existing matrices without stopping them on their way

Mass corresponding force struck against the stationary matrices. Damage
the die rods, especially the typefaces, were the result, and the whole thing

the release mechanism has been significantly impaired. The bent and worn ones

the failure of the matrices corresponding to the pressed keys or the
Triggering of more than one die with only one keystroke were the result
the mentioned uninhibited sliding movement of the dies to be deposited from the depositing point
right up to the rest point of the matrices. In addition to these disadvantages, there are other disadvantages
Deficiencies are added by the fact that in the previous design of the machine that of the drop-off point
sliding wires leading to the stationary matrices are bent shortly before the rest point.
So when the sliding die bars almost reach their maximum speed
your suspension eyes are suddenly forced in a different direction,
while the lower ends, owing to their inertia, do not immediately divert this

Oscillating movements of the sliding die rods, which hit against each other,
damaged each other or at least inhibited each other in their course. Frequently hooked
also at this point of deflection of the guide wires the die rods into each other,
thereby interrupting the circulation of the matrices
became. The composer
then had to leave his place on the keyboard and the interlocked: matrices
to solve.
wirken. The purpose of the invention is to do all of these with the uninhibited sliding movement
of the matrices to be deposited are contiguous from the depositing point to the resting point
To eliminate disadvantages in a simple manner. According to the invention, this is done by
Arranging a catch bar moved by the depositing slide within the so-called,
the die guide wires receiving basket of the machine for each basket half.
These catch bars are useful at the bend located just before the resting place
of the drop wires are provided and lie as long as the drop slide is not in its

is therefore destroyed by the catch bars attached to the magazine frame, and
since these are located at the bend of the guide wires, they are also located on this

up to the rest point of the matrices corresponding low kinetic energy behind
the unused die bars. With die setting and line casting machines with

Stelle genau entsprechende Gestalt.
Fig.
i anliegt.
The down in a known manner from the high-lying landing
leading, the so-called storage basket forming storage wires i are just above
of the frame 2 firmly connected to the machine towards these in their direction
diverted. At this point of the basket, the catch bars 3 can be displaced to a limited extent
attached to the frame 2. These bars have the shape of the basket on this one
Place exactly corresponding shape. Each bar 3 is in two elongated holes q., 5
guided to a limited extent displaceably by means of bolts 6 on the frame 2. The lower end
7 of the bar 3 protrudes beyond the elongated hole 5 and lies against the arm 8
a lever 9 which is attached to the machine frame such that it can swing about the bolt io
is. The other arm ii of the angle lever 9 touches a bolt 12, which is on a
Arm 14 fixedly attached to the depositing carriage 13 is located. The arrangement is
so taken that in the raised position of the carriage 13, d. H. so during
of the discarding process, each catch bar 3 lies on the wires i and with its lower
End 7 on the arm 8 of the angle lever 9 rests. In this connection the bar
3 and the lever 9 held by the weight of the bar 3, but could also be a
Spring o. The like. Be connected to the bar 3 for this purpose. For the same
Basically, the two arms 8 and ii of the angle lever 9 are of unequal length, so that
the heavier arm ix, which comes into contact with the pin i2 of the carriage 13
(See Fig. q.), which has an aspiration to move downwards, making for a constant
Concern of the lighter arm 8 against the end 7 of the catch bar 3 is taken care of. Naturally
can also the limit positions of the angle lever 9 in any other way, for. B.
be secured by attacks. The machine therefore works as follows: During
the casting of a set line is the carriage 13 in its lowest,
in Figs. 1, 3 and q. indicated position. The by means of the arm 1q. on the sled
13 fastened bolt 12 lies against the arm 1i of the
Angle lever
9 and thus holds it in the position shown in FIG. 4, whereby the catch bar
3, as can be seen, is lifted from the discard wires i. As soon as the set
Line is poured, the dies 15 to be deposited are moved by the carriage 13
brought vertically up to the storage point and means in a known manner
a slide, not shown, pushed over onto the drop wires i. from
there the matrices slide, as usual, by virtue of their own weight on the guide wires
i along to the resting place. But as soon as the carriage 13 for the purpose of
Lifting the cast matrices from their lowest position (see Fig.
i) begins to move upwards, the bolt 12 releases the lever arm ii, so that
the bar 3 as a result of its greater weight while turning the angle lever 9 so
can move far downward until it, as indicated in Fig. 5, on the drop wires
i is present. The matrices 15 pushed onto the lay-off wires i can now no longer
immediately slide down to the resting place, but are through the ledges
3 stopped in its course because the eyelets of the die rods are not between the
Last 3 and the guide wires i can slide through. The strips 3 remain
now in the position blocking the movement of the dies until the carriage 13
has reached its lowest position. Since the matrices to be filed lead the way
from the uppermost point in the basket to the rails 3 in less time than
the carriage needs to move from its upper deposit position to the lower casting position
To get there, the die bars held on the guide strips 3 also come
first to rest here completely before they can continue their course. As soon
the carriage 13 reaches the casting point, the bolts 12 lie against the arms
ii the angle lever 9 and rotate it around the pin io in the one shown in FIG
Position, wherein the catch bars 3 are raised as far as by the lever arms 8
the elongated holes 4, 5 allow it, d. H. so the strips 3 are out of their blocking position
brought into the position shown in Figure 3. The elongated holes q., 5 as well as the movement
the lever arms 8 are of course dimensioned so that the strips 3 are raised sufficiently
be to the eyelets of the dies 15 free passage between their lower edge and
to allow the wires i. As the basket in machines on which the invention is based
usually consists of two identical halves arranged symmetrically to one another
exists, a catch bar 3 is provided for each of these halves. As a result
are of course also the other parts mentioned, e.g. B. the angle lever 9 and the
Arm 14, with the pin 12 arranged twice. However, the device is on the drawing
shown for only one half.
