Cartridge chain The following requirements are made of a cartridge belt:
It should have a low weight with high tensile strength. The bringing in and out
the cartridges from the belt should as far as possible laterally, i.e. not in the longitudinal axis
take place, as this simplifies the rifle structure. The 'distance of the cartridges
must be kept very small, if possible the same (learn the cartridge diameter to adjust the feed distances
and thus reduce the speed of the belt. When inserting the filled
Belt in a box should not loop around empty spaces
to avoid. After all, the empty belt should only take up a small amount of space.
These conditions can be met if one of the well-known,
cartridge chain composed of individual links holding the cartridges on the ground
goes out and trains it in such a way that it appears as a flat, bowl-like body
formed member with a collar comprises the cartridge in the draw-out throat and a
Spring between the retaining member base and the cartridge base presses the cartridge tight. It is
it is appropriate to use the bolt to fasten the spring to the base of the link
forms the axis of rotation for the connecting strap and the holding member, and further in each case
to combine two cup-like bodies into a single holding member.
The thought of gripping the cartridge by the pull-out collar is, however
has been pronounced earlier, but there is more to be found in the older proposals
thought of a guide than of holding on to the cartridge and therefore has the individual
Holding members in the form of relatively long sheet metal sleeves for receiving the
Cartridge designed that allow a certain amount of suspension. The belt is thereby
heavy and unwieldy, quite apart from the fact that it was folded up as a result of it
occurring loop formation has only a small fill factor.
The invention is illustrated in the figures, namely Fig.
i a longitudinal section through a belt, Fig. 2 a plan view, Fig. 3 the belt folded
Conditions. The belt consists of individual retaining links a, which are linked by chain links
c with each other. are connected. Retaining links and chain links are by countersunk rivets
f connected to each other, with washers d causing the chain links to fall
(Prevent. The star-shaped leaf springs are designated with b. The retaining links
a are provided with grooves g into which the cartridges engage with their pull-out collar.
The recess e is provided for inserting the cartridge and removing it from the belt.
As Figure 3 shows, the individual links of the belt lie when folded
Belt tightly together without loops.
