Description
Process for the production of wash-resistant finishes Patent 553,174 The subject of patent 553174 is a process for producing wash-resistant Finishes on textiles of all kinds by treating the textile material with water-soluble ones Salts of a by joint polymerization of: ethylene-a-13-dicarboxylic acid with unsaturated compounds obtained polycarboxylic acid and then heating.
Beispiele i. It has now been found that wash-resistant finishes are also obtained if aldehydes are added to the bodies used for finishing according to the method of patent 553,174, with only a slight increase in viscosity, but no precipitations. With the masses obtained in this way, finishes of excellent washing and soap resistance can be produced without it being necessary to heat the finished fabric to a high level. The usual drying process is sufficient to make the finish on the goods washable and soap-resistant. Examples i. Cotton sateen is treated with 309 per liter of a body applied according to the method according to patent 553174 with the addition of 10 g of formaldehyde per liter, squeezed off and dried at about 50.degree. A finish which is stable in boiling water and boiling soap solution is obtained.
z. Hat felts, straw hats or fantasy hats made from various kinds of bristles are drawn with a 60% ammoniacal solution of the polymerization product from styrene and maleic anhydride with the addition of 10 g of acetaldehyde per liter treated, squeezed off and dried at about 50 ° C. One obtains a complete wash and soap resistant finish.
