Suction device -for set up above the liquid level
Centrifugal pumps The invention relates to a suction device for above the liquid level
installed centrifugal pumps in the form of a siphon, the one that slopes down after the pump

the sloping siphon side consistently only so much slope that solid components
remain essentially at that point on the pipe when the pump is not running,

The drawing shows an embodiment of the invention.

The suction pipe i designed as a siphon leads from the conveyed liquid at the level Hl vertically to the height H3 and from there away with a slight gradient to the pump 2, to which the pressure line 3 is connected. The pump level is denoted by HZ. The side of the suction pipe i sloping from the apex H3 to the pump H2 has a serpentine or zigzag shape and forms a communicating pipe z-2-3 through the pump 2 with the pressure line 3, which is constantly filled with conveying liquid. The serpentine or zigzag part has practically the same cross section as the rest of the suction tube i. After the pump 2 has started, the liquid level falls on the side of the suction pipe x that falls after the pump 2, creating a negative pressure in this which causes the conveying liquid, which is under atmospheric pressure and occupies the level Hl, to be sucked in. The height difference H3 Hz is kept as small as possible so that the suction height H3-H does not increase too much; on the other hand, the content of the serpentine side of the suction pipe i sloping down towards the pump is so large that when it is emptied by the pump 2, the vacuum required for suction is generated. After switching off the pump drive, the liquid contained in the pressure line 3 flows backwards until it reaches the apex of the suction pipe i with the same air and thereby causes the liquid column to tear off. In order to accelerate the occurrence of this moment, a direct connection through the tube q can be established between the apex of the suction pipe i and the pressure line 3. be switched on. As soon as the liquid level in the pressure line 3 has reached the level of the tube q. has fallen, air from the pressure line 3 enters the apex bend of the suction pipe i, so that the conveying liquid flowing back in the communicating pipe z-2-3 comes to a standstill. After starting the pump - the tube q. immediately filled with liquid from the pressure line 3.
