Carlyonic acids for use are sufficient. It has now been found that the esters are whole

Hydroaromatic ring-containing carboxylic acids, such as the tetra
oider Hexahydrobenzoic acid, excellent softening agents that represent the
previously known products technically as follows: g, ar still surpass.
besitzen jedoch keine hydroaromatische (hexacyclische) Struktur, sondern enthalten
It is true that they are already the esters of camphor and naphthenic acids
as a softening and gelatinizing agent proposed: has been brought. These
However, they do not have a hydroaromatic (hexacyclic) structure, but contain
a carbon five-membered ring and are also due to their smell, or with the
Naphthenic acid esters is extraordinarily penetrative, only applicable to a limited extent.
Oxydiert man z.
In contrast, the esters h_vdroaromati.scher dicarboxylic acids, z. B. the Hetahvdrophthalic acid and its homologues, proven and among these again the esters of those acids that arise in the oxidation of hydronaphthols and hydronaphthones or the Oxy.-lationsprodu: kte partially hydrogenated naphthalenes with a completely hydrogenated ring. If you oxidize z. B. the ß-decahydronaphthol or the corresponding ketone with the help of: nitric acid, one obtains essentially a mixture of cistransisomeric hexahydrophenylenediacetic acids in addition to octohydrozimates-o-carboxylic acid. It has now been shown that the esters of both the individual acids formed in the oxidation and separable by crystallization, e.g. B.; the ethyl, i-But_vl, benzyl or cyclohexyl esters, as well as their mixtures, are ideally suited for the purposes of the process. By the oxidation of ß-decahydronaphtho: l and esterification of the resulting acids with ethyl alcohol one obtains z. B. in a vacuum of 20 mm z,% vischen 175 and 185 'C boiling, easily mobile product with only a slight odor. The corresponding i-butyl ester mixture boils at 185 to 200 ° C (18 mm) and is colorless and odorless. The ethyl ester of hexahydrophenylenediacetic acid is also completely colorless and boils in a vacuum of 20 mm between 180 and 182 ° C, while the i-butyl ester with a very faint odor has a boiling point of zoo to 204 ° C (22 mm).
i,o liegt.
Of the esters of hexahydro-phthalic acid, the ethyl ester boils down
10 mm pressure between 16o and 65 ° C and the isobutyl ester under the same pressure between
185 and igo ° C. Both products have a specific: es weight: that little about
i, o lies.
Compared to the esters of aromatic carboxylic acids, such as.
B. -the phthalic acid esters, @@ the esters described above have the further advantage
that they -self: by complete color absorbency, -lightfastness and odor-free
distinguish. They also have a better dissolving power for nitrocellulos.e
on its own or in conjunction with the recently widely used additives
(Oils, resins, etc.). They also provide nitrocellulose solutions of lower viscosity.
Bereits kleine Mengender zuvor genannten Stoffe, z.
Even small amounts of the aforementioned substances, e.g. B. of Hexahydrophenylendiessi: gsäuredüsobutylesters,
are able to visibly increase the suppleness of cellulose esters and the like, see above
YES them, possibly in a mixture with other known softening and gelatinizing agents,
can be used with advantage for the above purposes.
