Die in der Folge beschriebene Einrichtung dient zur Kühlung und Feuchtung des zwischen zwei endlosen Filzen laufenden Papiers, und zwar mittelst nur eines Wasserbehälters und nur einer Presse für beide Filze.The device described below is used to cool and humidify the between two endless felts of running paper, using only a water container and only one press for both felts.

Zum Kühlen und gleichzeitigen Feuchten des Papiers α dienen zwei endlose Filze b und b1, welche um die hohle, mit Holz bekleidete Trommel c gehen. Von der Trommel c weg laufen die Filze getrennt über passend angebrachte Leitwalzen nach den Spritzen oder Spritzröhren d und dl bezw. durch den Wasserbehälter e, in welchen die Walze i eintaucht, um die die sich hier wieder vereinigenden Filze b und b1 laufen. Die mit kaltem Wasser getränkten Filze haben nun eine gemeinsame Bahn zur Presse F (gebildet aus dem Walzenpaar ff1)- Diese Presse bringt durch regulirbares Auspressen des Wassers aus der Doppelfilzbahn die Filze auf einen beliebigen Feuchtigkeitsgehalt. Infolge des gemeinsamen Durchganges beider Filze durch die Presse wird eine ganz genau gleiche Anfeuchtung beider Papierseiten ermöglicht. Nachdem die Filze geprefst sind, gehen dieselben wieder auf gesonderten Wegen zur Führungstrommel c. Da, wo dieselben zur Trommel kommen, an der Stelle g, wird das zu kühlende und zu feuchtende Papier α zwischen den beiden in ihrem Wassergehalt regulirten Filzen b und bl eingeführt und, nachdem dasselbe von den Filzen Feuchtigkeit aufgenommen hat, bei h wieder abgeleitet und von dem Rollapparat k aufgerollt. Ein dichter Holzboden m ermöglicht die Arbeit am Rollapparat k, ohne dafs eine Verunreinigung der unteren Filzbahn b1 stattfindet.
