Unter anderem sind besonders wertvoll aliphatisch-hydroaromatische Basen der obengenannten Art, welche Hydroxylgruppen enthalten, wie z. B. Cyclohexyläthanolamin, Cyclohexyldiäthanolamin und deren Homologe. Derartige Substanzen haben die bemerkenswerte Eigenschaft, das Plastifizieren und Klären von Casein außerordentlich zu- erleichtern. Diese Eigenschaft macht sich schon bei gewöhnlicher Temperatur bemerkbar, wenn angefeuchtetes Casein beispielsweise mit wenigen Prozent Cyclohexyläthanolamin innig vermischt wird.
