in bestmunter Reihenfolge verschiedenen Behandlungen unterzieht, nämlich zunächst
Process for the production of insulating oils from lignite tar and shale tar oils In the patent q, 5 & 62g, a process for the production of insulating oils from lignite tar and shale tar oils is described, which consists in the fact that the tar oil fractions which are suitable for their physical properties are in Subjects various treatments in the best lively sequence, namely first a solution process with alcohol or similar solvents, then refining with tin tetrachloride or other tetrahalides of the fourth group of the periodic table and finally dewaxing. If necessary, the light and deep-stocking oil obtained in this way is also distilled.
It has now been shown that it can be advantageous in some cases
can, if you refining with tin tetrachloride or other tetrahalides
the fourth group of the periodic table, with the exception of carbon, does not
after the extraction with the solvent, but only after the distillation
of the oil. It can easily occur during the distillation due to the effect of heat
Changes in the oils are going on and in doing so, bodies arise that the usability
of the oil for insulating purposes. These are unwanted connections
at -, the subsequent refining removed quantitatively. Besides, that means
refining treatment after distillation a considerable saving of refining coats,
because certain polymerization products remain in the residue during the distillation and
so do not have to be removed by the tin tetrachloride treatment. That
oil purified in this way, then extracted first with alcohol or the like
gently distilled and finally with tin tetrachloride or others
Tetrahalides of the fourth group of the periodic table have been refined,
is dewaxed, expediently by freezing out, subjected accordingly
the intended use of the raffinate obtained different largely carried out
can be.
Of course, refining with tin tetrachloride can also be used
at the very end, i.e. after the paraffin has been separated off. It
This is a filtration that would otherwise remove mechanical impurities
but would ultimately still appear advantageous, saved.
Example
i Dark lignite tar wax oil is extracted with alcohol until practically
nothing goes into solution anymore.

and fuller's earth stirred vigorously at about 20 ° for an hour and after separating
the resulting resins at about 80 ° with a mixture of anhydrous soda

The alcohol-insoluble part is subjected to steam vacuum distillation. 1 kg of the distillate is stirred vigorously for 1 hour with a mixture of 309 tin tetrachloride and 30 g of dried fuller's earth. The oil separated from the reaction products is then aftertreated with 30 9 alkaline fuller's earth at elevated temperature (about 80 °) and then refined by any known method, e.g. that of E rdman tn, whereby its solidification point is reduced to temperatures below -15 ° can be reduced.
The raffinate obtained in this way shows an extremely low level, far below
the maximum permissible tariff number and a pleasant, at redn'stes
Petroleum-like smell.
Inferior products were obtained when the distillation was started
was made at the end. The taring rate was noticeably higher, and it
a distinct odor of decomposition was observed.
