Surface condenser for aircraft powered by steam power
The object of the invention is a surface condenser for operated with steam power
Aircraft ,. which is advantageous over the known facilities
distinguishes that the area exposed to the driving wind consists of steps with horizontal steps
and vertical walls, in which the latter open the cooling fins.
In the drawing are two exemplary embodiments of the capacitor
shown in Figs. i and 2, while Fig. 3 shows the arrangement of a capacitor
shows on an aircraft fuselage.
According to Fig. I, the condenser a consists of a container rising from the front to the rear in steps b with cooling fins c inserted in the vertical walls so that the air can pass through the condenser in the direction of the arrow while the aircraft is in motion. Each slat surface c can be completely or partially closed as desired by an adjustable flap d. This movement and adjustment of the flaps d takes place from inside the aircraft body, by means of any lever or else. Endless chains guided by means of wheels e. It is free to adjust the flaps individually or in the whole block at once. The cross section of the capacitor can be square, but also curved. At the highest point of the front rear wall, the exhaust line g opens into the condenser obliquely from top to bottom, so that the exhaust steam primarily sweeps the front parts of the lamellae c, which have the most precipitation force. The condenser a rests on a box l2, which collects the condensate and discharges it through the line i . This container h can be provided with a slope towards the line i, so that the condensate can nevertheless run off when the aircraft ascends.
Figure 2 also shows a stepped lamellar capacitor h with condensate container 1, but the steps m of this capacitor are kept lower, with the side walls of the condenser covering the steps m laterally in a curve. To cover the lamellar steps m and regulate the air flow rate, a blind n running on balls is provided, the tension member o of which engages both ends of the blind and is guided over pulleys p. r is a guide roller for the blind, to which roller a drive for moving the blind can be connected. As a whole area, this blind n covers the individual steps m from bottom to top as they move. However, the steps can also be covered by a longitudinally slotted grid plate, the slots of which are in the direction of the arrows of the slats. On this slotted grid plate a similarly slotted grid plate is then slidably mounted, the slots of which close the slots of the lower grid plate more or less or all at once when moving, so that in this case the air passage for all slats is always evenly or completely blocked. In Fig. 2, s is the exhaust line and t is the line for the condensate.
The arrangement of the capacitor on an aircraft is shown in Fig. 3, where
the condenser u on a container v inclined at an angle to the condensate line
the condensate is at rest, from which the line to the feed water ventilator in the aircraft
leads. tv is the exhaust line.
It is free to use any other appropriate capacitor
To give shape without affecting the essence of the invention.
