Description

Elektrisch beheizter Schmelzkessel für Gieß- und Setzmaschinen, bei dem das flüssige Gießmetall durch eine in dem Kessel eingebaute Pumpe in die Gießform gedrückt wird. Den Gegenstand der Erfindung bildet ein Schmelzkessel für Gieß- und Setzmaschinen, der elektrisch beheizt wird. und bei dem das flüssige Metall durch eine Pumpe aus dem Kessel in die Gießform gedrückt wird. Gemäß der Erfindung soll der Stromverbrauch dieser Heizungen bedeutend verringert werden, was dadurch erreicht werden soll, daß ein fester Körper den Teil des Schmelzkesselinnern ausfüllt, welcher unterhalb der Verbindungsöffnung liegt, die das Innere des Pumpenzylinders mit dem flüssigen Metall verbindet. In dieser Kassette werden die elektrischen Heizkörper angeordnet. Bei den bekannten Setzmaschinenheizungen füllt sich dieser Raum, der einen beträchtlichen Teil des Gesamtkesselinhaltes ausmacht, mit flüssigem Gießmetall; dieses Metall wird natürlich auch beheizt, und zwar in vollkommen nutzloser Weise, da es nicht in den Pumpenzylinder einlaufen kann. Der hierdurch entstehende Wärmeverbrauch, der einen ziemlich erheblichen Verlust darstellt, wird bei dem Gegenstand der Erfindung durch Anordnung der eleletrischen Heizkörper an der erwähnten Stelle vermieden. Dadurch ergeben sich bedeutende Vorteile in der Beheizung. Die Heizkörperoberfläche ist stets mit Gießmetall bedeckt, wodurch beim Sinken des Metallspiegels in dem Kessel der Nachteil der bisherigen senkrechten Anordnung der Heizkörper, nämlich die Strahlung der Heizkörper nach dem oberen Luftraum, beseitigt wird. Ferner wird der Pumpenzylinder von der Heizkassette umschlossen, womit eine unmittelbare Wärmeabgabe an das in der Pumpe stehende bzw. das der Gießform zuzuführende Gießmetall bedingt wird. Auf der Zeichnung ist ein Ausführungsbeispiel der Erfindung dargestellt, und zwar zeigt: Abb.
