Compression meters for internal combustion engines. The invention is a
Compression meter for internal combustion engines to be fitted in place of the spark plug
of vehicles with a loosely standing on the measuring piston and by a brake spring
Malistab held in every position, the latter simultaneously for: measuring
the electrode spacing and the clearance between valve stem and tappet can be used
so that it is unnecessary to carry several measuring tools.
So
ist z. B. der günstigste Elektrodenabstand beim hoch verdichtenden Hanomagmotor
etwa 0,4 mm, beim niedrig verdichtenden Fordmotor etwa o,8 mm.
einzigen Instrument vereint. For the ': engine to work properly, it is necessary to check
of the compression pressure required that the electrode gap of the spark plug according to
the compression pressure of the engine concerned is set; because with increasing
Compression increases the resistance for bridging the spark gap, with high compression
ir_uI that is, the electrode spacing is small, with low compression, however, the spacing
be larger in order to ignite the mixture at all due to the stronger spark. So
is z. B. the cheapest electrode spacing in the high-compression Hanomag engine
about 0.4 mm, for the low-compression Ford engine about 0.8 mm. As with too little
There must also be space between valve stem and tappet compression losses
the distance between the valve stem and the tappet, which is about 0.4 mm, is measured
and be checked again, so that that too. Carrying such a measuring instrument
makes necessary. To now carry along the individual, very easily lost
Measuring devices too. make it easier and always at the point where it is needed,
to handle, these instruments are one by the subject of the invention
united by a single instrument.
dargestellt. In the drawing, the measuring tool is in one embodiment
shown.
Fig. I is a longitudinal section through the compression in.esser; Fig. A
is a view; Fig.3 and .1. show the single scale.
6 des Teiles i versenkt.
Zeigt z. B.
According to the invention, the scale i showing the compression pressure is divided lengthways and the part z is divided by a joint; connected to part i. Facing part i, part: 2 has five wire pins with the diameters o, 4, 0.5, o, 6, -o, 7, o, 8 mm as well as a corresponding row of numbers 5, which shows the diameter of the wire in question. The wire pins .l serve as gauges for measuring and adjusting the electrode spacing in spark plugs and are sunk into the side holes 6 of part i. The main advantage of using this spark plug gauge is that the rod a is not only to be used as a spark plug gauge, but that it indicates which wire size of the gauge is to be used according to the compression pressure of the engine in order to set a favorable electrode gap. Shows e.g. B. the scale I of the pressure gauge 9.2 atm. rod 2 shows the most favorable electrode spacing of 0.4 mm corresponding to this compression pressure, at 4.6 atm. the distance of 0.8 mm, etc. At the lower end of the part 2 sits an o, q.mm flat blade 7, by means of which the clearance between the valve stem and tappet is measured during adjustment. and can be checked again. For the purpose of measuring the compression pressure, part 2 is placed on part r and placed on piston 8, while for measuring an electrode gap or the clearance between valve stem and tappet, the entire scale r, 2 is pulled out of cylinder 9 and part 2 is folded up is, where the part i serves as a handle. The whole therefore forms a triple measuring device in a single piece, while otherwise three individual measuring tools had to be carried in its places.
