Description
Process for glossing matted acetyl cellulose spun threads and fabrics. In the further course of the investigations it was found that for Shine of matted acetyl cellulose spun threads and fabrics steaming as follow-up treatment is not absolutely necessary, and that too, especially if the cellulose acetate fibers still have solvents from their manufacture, especially those of higher boiling point contains steaming as the sole operation to cancel matting instead of treatment with solvents or swelling agents can so that the shine of the fiber solely by the application of steam on the matted goods are restored. In this case it is recommended to use the Damping of the matted fiber in case of overpressure. The pressure applied can down to 5 atm. and be increased beyond that. Even with this steaming process The gleamed cellulose acetate fiber keeps the highly enlarged Volume at that it had obtained by the first matting. The present The method is illustrated by the following example: r kg of acetate silk in strand form is put on sticks and immersed in a boiling soap bath for one hour, as usual, matted and souped. The strands dried after matting are hung up in a well-preheated steamer and left to act for x hours of steam at 0.4 atm. Exposed to overpressure. This gives the goods their shine again, but without losing their wool-like properties.
