Solche Abdeckplatten für den genannten Zweck bestehen bisher meist aus einer Holzplatte, beispielsweise einer Spanplatte, die dick genug ist, um die notwendige Stabilität zu gewährleisten, sowie einer auf dieser Spanplatte vollflächig aufgeklebten Dekoroberfläche, beispielsweise Resopal oder Aluminium. Diese Abdeckplatte wiederum ist in einen umlaufenden Profilrahmen eingeklebt, wobei wiederum die vollflächige Beklebung des Profils mit den Schnittkanten der Holzplatte angestrebt wird. Auf derartigen Abdeckplatten wird oft mit nassem Material handiert und gleichzeitig darf die Holzplatte oder Spanplatte keine Feuchtigkeit saugen, da sie ansonsten aufquellen und ihre Formbeständigkeit sowie Stabilität verlieren würde. Deshalb muß entweder die hölzerne Abdeckplatte nach dem Zuschnitt vollflächig umlaufend versiegelt werden oder diese Versiegelung erfolgt, wie überlicher Weise praktiziert, auf der Oberseite und den Schnittflächen durch den Kleber und auf der Unterseite durch eine feuchtigkeitsdichte Versiegelung aus Lack.
