Herstellung aktiver Kohle. Die Herstellung von aktiven Kohlen kann nach verschiedenen Verfahren geschehen, die meisten jedoch liefern verhältnismäßig recht teuere Produkte. Es wurde gefunden, daß man den Herstellungspreis wesentlich verbilligen und doch zu gutwirkenden Stoffen kommen kann, wenn man Braun- oder Steinkohlen mit Extraktionsmitteln, welche das Bitumen möglichst vollständig herauslösen, behandelt und nach erfolgter Extraktion die erhaltenen Produkte mit oder ohne Zusatz von Kaliumverbindungen in bekannter Weise bei Luftabschluß auf hohe Temperaturen erhitzt. Als Extraktionsmittel erweisen sich die hydrierten Kaphthaline, insbesondere das Tetralin, bei Anwendung höherer Tempera= turen und Drucke besonders geeignet. Durch diese Arbeitsweise gelangt man infolge Anwendung sehr billiger Ausgangsstoffe zu billigen aktiven Kohlen, welche bei Anwendung geeigneter Ausgangsmaterialien auch erheblich hohes Schüttgewicht besitzen können.Active coal production.
