Glashähnen, Glasventilen, Glasspritzen o. dgl., werden die sich bewegenden Teile aus dem gleichen Glas hergestellt wie die Sitze der sich bewegenden Teile; z. Eine Ungleichheit der Ausdehnung der verschiedenen Glassorten macht sich hierbei nicht fühlbar. Dies würde nur dann eintreten, wenn man verschiedene Glassorten zusammenschmilzt. Hierbei treten Spannungen auf, die zu einem Platzen, besonders an den Verbindungsstellen, führen können. Ganz anders ist es aber bei Glasteilen, die keine direkte Verbindung untereinander haben, sondern lediglich aneinander schleifen.
