Description
Die Reaktion verläuft nach folgender Gleichung PC13 + SO-2C12 = POC13 i SOCl2.Simultaneous production of phosphorus oxychloride and thionyl chloride. The oxidation of phosphorus trichloride to phosphorus oxychloride usually takes place by means of chlorate salts. This creates the corresponding metal chloride as a by-product, which is contaminated with phosphorus-containing substances and therefore only poorly Has value. The present procedure is based on the idea of simultaneously two valuable To produce products. According to the present invention, the oxidation of phosphorus trichloride made with sulfuryl chloride. This forms in addition to the phosphorus oxychloride Thionyl chloride. The reaction proceeds according to the following equation PC13 + SO-2C12 = POC13 i SOCl2.
The products obtained are separated by fractional distillation using a column apparatus. Example. In a closed apparatus equipped with a reflux condenser and external cooling, 134 parts of sulfuryl chloride are first heated to near the boiling point. The reflux and external cooling are then turned on and 137 parts of phosphorus trichloride are added dropwise. A uniform reaction takes place with development of heat, which is completed in about one hour. The reaction product is then broken down into its two components, phosphorus oxychloride and thionyl chloride, by fractional distillation.
