Sie sind im Gegensatz zu synthetisch hergestellten Baustoffplatten atmungsaktiv und feuchtigkeitsregulierend, enthalten weniger schädliche Chemikalien und geben deshalb auch im Brandfall nur wenige giftige Gase ab. Holz hat jedoch den Nachteil, nicht in unbegrenztem Maße verfügbar zu sein, da der Bedarf im Verhältnis zu seiner Wiederaufforstung relativ groß ist und das zur Zeit bedenklich fortschreitende Waldsterben uns zeigt, daß für das Holz in nächstmöglicher Zukunft zumindest teilweise eine brauchbare Alternative gefunden werden muß.Known building material boards of this type usually contain wood.
