Abstract

A device for lateral stretching of a continuous length of tubular knitted fabric comprises a pair of guide bars joined by a freshly extensible linkage such as a pantograph and carrying a series of rollers aligned to spread the flattened fabric from the inside and bear against external driven rollers which entrain the fabric past the guides. The guides are located longitudinally by those of their own rollers which partially staddle the perimeters of the driven rollers and are held in that position by magnetic forces exerted by adjacent magnets on a suitable block mounted on each guide.
