Abstract

The invention relates to a universal stretcher for spreading tubular fabrics, comprising a differential control of the supply rolls adjustable in terms of width over the entire range of use of a textile machine. It comprises two branches (6 and 7), rollers (15 to 22) engaging into the supply rolls (1 to 4) under the effect of the forces of attraction (ft) of a magnetic field generated by the magnets (50) or electromagnets (52). A differential (85) is interposed between the half-shafts (88 and 89) controlling the supply rolls. The two branches are connected to one another by means of a mechanical member (68), to prevent the branches (6 and 7) from pivoting on themselves. The invention is characterised in that the branches of the stretcher are not pushed back from inside by a mechanical member, but are attracted outwards by means of a magnetic field; a differential makes it possible to modify the relative speed of the supply rolls. The universal stretcher is used on textile machines wherever the width of the fabric has to be spread out and controlled. <IMAGE>
