Description
- Die Erfindung betrifft öllösliche Additive, die in Brennstoff und Schmierölzusammensetzungen brauchbar sind, und insbesondere diese Additive enthaltende Konzentrate oder Schmierzusammensetzungen sowie Verfahren für deren Herstellung und Verwendung. Die Additive sind Metallsalze von Mono- oder Dicarbonsäuren, die mit einer Kohlenwasserstoffgruppe mit hohem Molekulargewicht substituiert sind, oder Metallsalze der Derivate von Polyolefinmono- und dicarbonsäuren, -anhydriden oder Estern wie Amide, Imide, Ester, Oxazoline, usw., die durch weitere Reaktion mit Amin, Alkohol, Aminoalkoholen gebildet worden sind und weiterbehandelt werden können, z.B. boriert werden können. Das hohe Molekulargewicht ( n) des Polyolefins ist im allgemeinen größer als etwa 700. Die Metallsalzkompatibilitätsadditive sind besonders brauchbar bei der Stabilisierung (oder "Kompatibilisierung") von Konzentraten, Schmieröl oder Brennölzusammensetzungen, die Dispergiermittel mit hohem Molekulargewicht, Tenside mit hoher Gesamtbasezahl ("TBN") und verschiedene Antiverschleißmittel oder Antioxidantien enthalten. Diese Salze können brauchbar sein, um mindestens einen Teil von bisher verwendeten Kompatibilitätsmitteln, Antioxidantien und Dispergiermitteln zu ersetzen.
- Bestimmte Metallsalze von Alkenylbernsteinsäure sind bekannt. Die US-A-3 271 310 lehrt, daß ein "Metallsalz von kohlenwasserstoffsubstiuierter Bernsteinsäure mit mindestens 50 aliphatischen Kohlenstoffatomen in dem Kohlenwasserstoffsubstituenten, wobei das Metall des Metallsalzes ausgewählt ist aus der Klasse bestehend aus Metallen der Gruppe I, Metallen der Gruppe II, Aluminium, Blei, Zinn, Kobalt und Nickel", als Additiv mit dualem Zweck brauchbar ist.
- Die US-A-4 522 677 beschreibt ein ähnliches Material, bei dem das bevorzugte Metall in dem Salz Kupfer ist und der Kohlenwasserstoffsubstituent 8 bis 35 Kohlenstoffatome enthält.
- Die US-A-4 234 435 beschreibt, daß bestimmte der in der US-A- 3 271 310 beschriebenen Salze als Dispergiermittel/Tenside und viskositätsverbessernde Mittel in Schmierölzusammensetzungen brauchbar sind. Die Salze schließen diejenigen ein, bei denen der Polybutenrest ein n von 1 300 bis 5 000, ein w/ n-Verhältnis zwischen 1,5 und 4,0 aufweist und bei denen das Verhältnis des Bernsteinsäurerestes zu dem Polybutensubstituenten mindestens 1,3 beträgt.
- Die US-A-3 714 042 betrifft die Behandlung von basischen Metallsulfonatkomplexen, Sulfonat-Carboxylat-Komplexen und Carboxylatkomplexen mit Carbonsäuren mit hohem Molekulargewicht, um Additive herzustellen, die in Schmierölen und Benzinen brauchbar sind. Das Patent lehrt die Ineffektivität von bereits vorher gebildeten Metallsalzen von Carbonsäuren mit hohem Molekulargewicht für solche Behandlungen und zeigt beispielhaft die Sedimentbildung, die von der Verwendung des Calciumsalzes von Polyisobutenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid in niedrigen Konzentrationen in einem Mineralschmieröl herrührt.
- Die US-A-3 489 682 beschreibt Metallsalze von Mischungen von organischen Phosphorsäuren und kohlenwasserstoffsubstituierten Bernsteinsäuren, die die Oxidationsstabilität und Extremdruck- und Reibungseigenschaften von Schmierölen verbessern. Sie werden beispielsweise in Zusammensetzungen verwendet, die ein Dispergiermittel, welches das Reaktionsprodukt von Polyisobutenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid mit einer Polyethylenpolyaminmischung ist, ein Tensid mit hoher Gesamtbasezahl, ein Zinkdikohlenwasserstoffdithiophosphat und ein Zinksalz von Polyisobutenylbernsteinsäure enthalten. Es bestehen immer noch Stabilitätsprobleme bei diesen Zusammensetzungen hinsichtlich der Phasentrennung, wenn sie in Konzentraten verwendet werden.
- Ferner beschreibt die CA-A-1 170 247 Schmierzusammensetzungen, die Zinkdikohlenwasserstoffdithiophosphate und ein Kupfersalz von Ölsäure oder Sulfonsäuren enthalten, um die Oxidation des Schmiermittels während des Gebrauchs zu verzögern oder zu inhibieren. Wenn diese Zusammensetzungen in Konzentraten für Schmieröle verwendet werden, ist die Phasenstabilität ebenfalls nicht zufriedenstellend.
- Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft Zusammensetzungen, die:
- ein Dispergiermittelmaterial ausgewählt aus:
- (a) einem monoungesättigte, kohlenwassersstoffsubstituierte C&sub4;- C&sub1;&sub0;-Dicarbonsäure produzierenden Reaktionsprodukt, das durch Umsetzung von Olefinpolymer von C&sub2;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Monoolefinen mit einem durchschnittlichen zahlenmäßigen Molekulargewicht größer als 900 und einem monoungesättigten C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Säurematerial hergestellt worden ist, und
- b) einem Mannichbase-Dispergiermittel mit hohem Molekulargewicht, das sich von einem kohlenwasserstoffsubstituierten Mono- oder Polyhydroxybenzol mit einem Molekulargewicht größer als 1 000 ableitet,
- ein Metalltensidmaterial mit hoher Gesamtbasezahl,
- ein Antioxidans ausgewählt aus Kupfersalzen von snythetischen oder natürlichen Carbonsäuren und Kupfersulfonaten, -phenolaten und -acetylacetonaten,
- ein Zinkdikohlenwasserstoffdithiophosphat-Antiverschleißmaterial und
- ein kompatibilisierendes Material umfaßt, das ein Kupfersalze eines monoungestättigte, kohlenwasserstoffsubsitutierte C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Mono- oder Dicarbonsäure produzierenden Reaktionsprodukts umfaßt, das durch Umsetzung von Olefinpolymer von C&sub2;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Monoolefin mit einem durchschnittlichen zahlenmäßigen Molekulargewicht größer als etwa 700 und eines monoungesättigten C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Säurematerials hergestellt worden ist.
- Obwohl das kompatibilisierende Kupfersalz als solches als Additiv brauchbar ist, z.B. als Dispergiermittel, ist es insbesondere als Kompatibilisierungshilfsmittel in Schmierzusammensetzungen brauchbar, die Dispergiermittel mit hohem Molekulargewicht, Tenside mit hoher Gesamtbasezahl, Antiverschleißmittel und Antioxidantien enthalten. Es ist gefunden worden, daß dieses Kupfersalz auch anstelle von mindestens einigen (etwas) dieser Tenside, Dispergiermittel und Antioxidansadditive verwendet werden kann.
- Die erfindungsgemäßen Zusammensetzungen sind von denen des Standes der Technik darin verschieden, daß sie sogar nach Lagerung bei erhöhten Temperaturen zeimlich stabil sind.
- Schmierölzusammensetzungen, z.B. Automatikgetriebeflüssigkeiten, Hochleistungsöle, die für Benzin und Dieselmotoren geeignet sind, können unter Verwendung der erfindungsgemäßen Zusammensetzungen hergestellt werden. Universal-Kurbelgehäuseöle, diejenigen, bei denen die gleichen Schmierölzusammensetzungen verwendet werden wie entweder für Benzin- oder Dieselmotoren, können ebenfalls hergestellt werden. Diese Schmierölformulierungen enthalten üblicherweise mehrere verschiedene Arten von Additiven, die die für den speziellen Gebrauch nötigen Eigenschaften liefern. Zu diesen Arten von Additiven gehören Viskositätsindexverbesserer, Antioxidantien, Korrosionsinhibitoren, Tenside, Dispergiermittel, Fließpunkterniedrigungsmittel und Antiverschleißmittel.
- Bei der Herstellung von Schmierölformulierungen ist es üblich, die Additive in Form eines Konzentrats (beispielsweise als "Additivpaket") einzuführen, das 10 bis 80 Gew.%, z.B. 20 bis 80 Gew.%, wirksamen Bestandteil in einem Lösungsmittel enthält. Das Lösungsmittel kann ein Kohlenwasserstofföl, z.B. ein Mineralschmieröl, oder ein anderes geeignetes Material sein. Bei der Herstellung von fertigen Schmiermitteln wie Kurbelgehäusemotorölen können diese Konzentrate wiederum mit 3 bis 100, vorzugsweise 5 bis 40 Gewichtsteilen Schmieröl pro Gewichtsteil des Additivpakets verdünnt werden. Natürlich verwendet man Konzentrate, um die Handhabung der verschiedenen Bestandteile weniger schwierig zu machen sowie um die Auflösung oder Dispergierung dieser Materialien in der fertigen Mischung zu vereinfachen. Das Mischen einer Schmierölzusammensetzung, die verschiedene Arten von Additiven enthält, verursacht normalerweise keine Probleme, wenn jedes Additiv getrennt zugesetzt wird. Wenn jedoch ein Additiv"paket" mit einer Reihe von Additiven in einem einzelnen Konzentrat verwendet werden soll, können die Additive miteinander in Wechselwirkung treten. Beispielsweise ist gefunden worden, daß Dispergiermittel mit hohem Molekulargewicht mit verschiedenen anderen Additiven in dem Konzentrat reagieren, insbesondere überbasischen Metalltensiden und Antioxidantien wie Kupferoleat, um Phasentrennung hervorzurufen. Naheliegenderweise kann dies das Pumpen, Mischen und Handhaben sowohl des Konzentrats als auch des resultierenden Produkts behindern. Obwohl das Konzentrat weiter verdünnt werden kann, um den Wechselwirkungseffekt zu verringern, erhöht das Verdünnen die Verschiffungs-, Lager- und Handhabungskosten. Die Lagerung des Konzentrats ergibt ein Problem dahingehend, daß das Konzentrat selbst sich während der Lagerung in eine Reihe von Phasen trennen kann. Das unten beschriebene Kupfersalz der kohlenwasserstoffsubstituierten Mono- und Dicarbonsäure mit hohem Molekulargewicht behebt im wesentlichen diese Phasentrennungsprobleme. Tatsächlich kann dieses Kupfersalz als Ersatz für alle oder einen Teil der anderen Dispergiermittel- und Antioxidans-Additive, die in einem Konzentrat oder einer Schmierölformulierung vorhanden sind, verwendet werden.
- Erfindungsgemäß hergestellte Zusammensetzungen enthalten:
- a) ein Dispergiermittel,
- b) ein Tensid mit einer hohen Gesamtbasezahl,
- c) ein Antiverschleißadditiv,
- d) ein Kupferantioxidans,
- e) ein Kompatibilitätsmittel aus einem Kupfersalze von alkenylsubstituierten Mono- oder Dicarbonsäuren mit hohem Molekulargewicht oder einem Kupfersalz der Derivate von Mono- und Dicarbonsäuren, die mit polyolefinischen Resten substituiert sind wie Amide, Imide, Anhydride oder Ester.
- In Abhängigkeit von der Verwendung, der die Zusammensetzungen letztendlich zugeführt werden, können die Zusammensetzungen auch Reibungsmodifizierungsmittel und dergleichen enthalten.
- Die Zusammensetzungen dieser Mischungen enthalten mindestens fünf wirksame Mittel, die oben separate aufgeführt sind (und die unten separat beschrieben werden), in Mengen, die wirksam sind, um ihre jeweiligen Funktionen zu erfüllen.
- Wenn die erfindungsgemäßen Zusammensetzungen in Form von Schmierölzusammensetzungen verwendet werden wie Automobilkurbelgehäuseschmierölzusammensetzungen kann eine größere Menge eines Schmieröls in die Zusammensetzung eingeschlossen sein. Weit ausgedrückt können die Zusammensetzungen 85 bis 99,99 Gew.% eines Schmieröls enthalten, vorzugsweise 93 bis 99,8 Gew.% des Schmieröls. Der Ausdruck "Schmieröl" soll nicht nur Kohlenwasserstofföle, die sich von Erdöl ableiten, sondern auch synthetische Öle wie Alkylester von Dicarbonsäuren, Polyglykolen und Alkoholen, Poly-α-Olefine, Alkylbenzole, organische Ester von Phsophorsäuren, Polysilikonöle usw. einschließen.
- Wenn die erfindungsgemäßen Zusammensetzungen in Form von Konzentraten geliefert werden, mit oder ohne die anderen angegebenen Additive, kann eine kleinere Menge, z.B. bis zu etwa 50 Gew.%, eines Lösungsmittels, Mineral- oder synthetischen Öls, eingeschlossen sein, um die Handhabungseigenschaften des Konzentrats zu verbessern.
- Das in dieser erfindungsgemäßen Zusammensetzung bevorzugte Dispergiermittel ist ein mit langkettigem Kohlenwasserstoff substituiertes Mono- oder Dicarbonsäurematerial, d.h., Säure, Anhydrid oder Ester, und schließt einen langkettigen Kohlenwasserstoff, im allgemeinen ein Polyolefin, der mit einer α- oder β- ungesättigten C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Dicarbonsäure wie Itakonsäure, Maleinsäure, Maleinsäureanhydrid, Chlormaleinsäure, Dimethylfumarat, Chlormaleinsäureanhydrid, Acrylsäure, Methacrylsäure, Crotonsäure, Zimtsäure usw. pro Mol Olefin substituiert ist. Vorzugsweise enthält das Dispergiermittel mindestens etwa 1,05 Mol (z.B. 1,05 bis 1,2 Mol oder mehr) der Säure pro Mol Polyolefin.
- Bevorzugte Olefinpolymere für die Reaktion mit den ungesättigten Dicarbonsäuren sind diejenigen Polymere, die aus einer größeren molaren Menge von C&sub2;-C&sub1;&sub0;-, z.B. C&sub2;-C&sub5;-, Monoolefin hergestellt worden sind. Solche Olefine schließen Ethylen, Propylen, Butylen, Isobutylen, Penten, Octen-1 und Styrol ein. Die Polymere können Homopolymere wie Polyisobutylen oder Copolymere von zwei oder mehreren solcher Olefine sein. Diese schließen Copolymere von: Ethylen und Propylen, Butylen und Isobutylen, Propylen und Isobutylen usw. ein. Andere Copolymere schließen diejenigen ein, in denen eine kleinere molare Menge der Copolymermonomere, z.B. 1 bis 10 Mol-Prozent, ein C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub8;-Diolefin ist, z.B. Copolymer von Isobutylen und Butadien oder ein Copolymer von Ethylen, Propylen und 1,4-Hexadien.
- In einigen Fällen können die Olefinpolymere vollständig gesättigt sein, z.B. ein Ethylen-Propylen-Copolymer, das durch eine Ziegler-Natta-Synthese hergestellt worden ist, wobei Wasserstoff als Moderationsmittel zur Kontrolle des Molekulargewichts verwendet worden ist.
- Die Olefinpolymere weisen durchschnittliche zahlenmäßige Molekulargewichte oberhalb von etwa 900 auf, einschließlich durchschnittlichen zahlenmäßige Molekulargewichten im Bereich von 1500 bis 5000, wobei ungefähr eine Doppelbindung pro Polymerkette vorhanden ist. Ein besonders geeignetes Ausgangsmaterial für ein Dispergiermitteladditiv ist Polyisobutylen. Das durchschnittliche zahlenmäßige Molekulargewicht solcher Polymere kann durch verschiedene bekannte Techniken bestimmt werden. Ein geeignetes Verfahren für eines solche Bestimmung ist die Gelpermeationschromatographie (GPC), die außerdem Informationen über die Molekulargewichtsverteilung liefert (siehe W.W. Jua, J.J. Kirland and D.D. Bly, "Modern Size Exclusion Liquid Chromatography", John Wiley and Sons, New York, 1979.
- Verfahren zur Umsetzung des Olefinpolymers mit der ungesättigten C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Dicarbonsäure, dem ungesättigten C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Dicarbonsäureanhydrid oder -ester sind bekannt. Beispielsweise kann das Olefinpolymer einfach zusammen mit dem Dicarbonsäurematerial erhitzt werden, wie in der US-A-3 361 673 und der US-A-3 401 118 beschrieben ist, um eine thermische "En"-Reaktion zu bewirken. Auch kann das Olefinpolymer zuerst halogeniert werden, z.B. chloriert oder bromiert werden, bezogen auf das Polymergewicht bis zu etwa 1 bis 8, vorzugsweise 3 bis 7 Gewichtsprozent Chlor oder Brom, indem das Chlor oder Brom bei einer Temperatur von 100ºC bis 250ºC, z.B. 120ºC bis 160ºC, für etwa 0,5 bis 10, vorzugsweise 1 bis 7 Stunden durch das Polyolefin geleitet wird. Das halogenierte Polymer kann dann mit ausreichend ungesättigter Säure oder ungesättigtem Anhydrid 0,5 bis 10, z.B. 3 bis 8, Stunden lang bei 100 bis 250, üblicherweise bei 180 bis 220ºC umgesetzt werden. Verfahren dieser allgemeinen Art sind in der US-A-3 087 436, 3 172 892, 3 272 746 und anderen beschrieben.
- Alternativ werden das Olefinpolymer und das ungesättigte Säurematerial gemischt und erhitzt, während dem heißen Material Chlor zugesetzt wird. Verfahren dieser Art sind in der US-A-3 215 707, 3 231 587, 3 912 764, 4 110 349, 4 234 435 und der GB-A-1440219 beschrieben.
- Bei Verwendung von Halogen reagieren normalerweise 65 bis 95 Gew.% des Polyolefins mit dem Dicarbonsäurematerial. Thermische Reaktionen, diejenigen, die ohne Verwendung von Halogen oder einem Katalysator durchgeführt werden, bewirken nur, daß 50 bis 75 Gewichtsprozent des Polyisobutylens reagieren. Offenbar unterstützt die Chlorierung die Steigerung der Reaktivität.
- Die Dicarbonsäure Produzierenden Materialien können ferner mit Aminen, Alkoholen einschließlich Polyolen, Aminoalkoholen umgesetzt werden, um andere brauchbare Dispergiermitteladditive zu bilden. Dementsprechend wird, wenn das Säure Produzierende Material weiter umgesetzt, z.B. neutralisiert, werden soll, dann im allgemeinem ein größerer Teil von mindestens 50% der Säureeinheiten bis zu allen Säureeinheiten umgesetzt.
- Brauchbare Aminverbindungen für die Reaktion mit dem kohlenwasserstoffsubstituierten Dicarbonsäurematerial schließen Mono- und Polyamine mit insgesamt 2 bis 60, z.B. 3 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatomen und 1 bis 12, z.B. 2 bis 8 Stickstoffatomen in einem Molekül ein. Diese Amine können Kohlenwasserstoffamine oder Kohlenwasserstoffamine mit anderen Gruppen sein, z.B. Hydroxygruppen, Alkoxygruppen, Amidgruppen, Nitrile, Imidazolingruppen. Hydroxyamine mit 1 bis 6 Hydroxygruppen, vorzugsweise 1 bis 3 Hydroxygruppen sind besonders brauchbar. Bevorzugte Amine sind gesättigte aliphatische Amine, wozu diejenigen mit den allgemein nen Formeln:
- gehören, in denen R, R' und R" unabhängig voneinander ausgewählt sind aus der Gruppe bestehend aus Wasserstoff, gerad- oder verzweigtkettigen C&sub1;-C&sub2;&sub5;-Alkylresten, C&sub1;-C&sub1;&sub2;-Alkoxy-C&sub2;-C&sub6;-Alkylenresten, C&sub2;-C&sub1;&sub2;-Alkyamino-C&sub2;-C&sub6;-Alkylenresten, jedes s die gleiche oder eine verschiedene Zahl von 2 bis 6, vorzugsweise 2 bis 4 sein kann und t eine Zahl von 0 bis 10, vorzugsweise 2 bis 7 ist. Mindestens einer der Reste R, R' oder R" muß Wasserstoff sein.
- Nicht-einschränkende Beispiele geeigneter Aminverbindungen schließen ein:
- 1, 2-Diaminoethan, 1,3-Diaminopropan, 1,4-Diaminobutan, 1,6-Diaminohexan, Polyethylenamine wie Diethylentriamin, Triethylentetramin, Tetraethylenpentamin, Polypropylenamine wie 1,2-Propylendiamin, Di(1,2-propylen)triamin, Di(1,3-propylen)triamin, N,N-Dimethyl-1,3-diaminopropan, N,N-Di(2-aminoethyl)ethylendiamin, N,N-Di(2-hydroxyethyl)-1,3-propylendiamin, 3-Dodecyloxypropylamin, N-Dodecyl-1,3-propandiamin, Tris-Hydroxymethylaminomethan (THAM), Diisopropanolamin, Diethanolamin, Triethanolamin, Aminomorpholine wie N-(3-Aminopropyl)morpholin.
- Andere brauchbare Aminverbindungen schließen ein:
- Alicyclische Diamine wie 1,4-Di(aminomethyl)cyclohexan und heterocyclische Stickstoffverbindungen wie Imidazoline und N-Aminoalkylpiperazine mit der allgemeinen Formel:
- in der p&sub1; und p&sub2; gleich oder verschieden und jeweils Zahlen von 1 bis 4 sind und n&sub1;, n&sub2; und n&sub3; gleich oder verschieden und jeweils Zahlen von 1 bis 3 sind. Nicht-einschränkende Beispiele solcher Amine schließen 2-Pentadecylimidazolin, N-(2-Aminoethyl)piperazin ein.
- Kommerzielle Mischungen von Aminverbindungen können vorteilhafterweise verwendet werden. Beispielsweise wird bei einem Verfahren zur Herstellung von Alkylenaminen die Reaktion eines Alkylendihalogenids (wie Ethylendichlorid oder Propylendichlorid) mit Ammoniak verwendet, die zu einer komplexen Mischung von Alkylenaminen führt, in denen Paare von Stickstoffatomen durch Alkylengruppen verbunden sind, wodurch Verbindungen wie Diethylentriamin, Triethylentetramin, Tetraethylenpentamin und korrespondierende Piperazine gebildet werden. Billige Poly(ethylenamin)verbindungen mit durchschnittlich 5 bis 7 Stickstoffatomen pro Molekül sind kommerziell unter Handelsnamen wie "Polyamine H", "Polyamine 400", "Dow Polyamine E-100" erhältlich.
- Brauchbare Amine schließen auch Polyoxyalkylenpolyamine wie diejenigen mit den Formeln:
- (i) NH&sub2; - Alkylen ( O-Alkylen ) NH&sub2;
- in der "m" ein Wert von 3 bis 70 und vorzugsweise 10 bis 35 hat, und
- (ii) R ( Alkylen ( O-Alkylen ) NH&sub2;)&sub3;&submin;&sub6;
- ein, in der "n" einen Wert von 1 bis 40 hat, mit der Maßgabe, daß die Summe aller n 3 bis 70 und vorzugsweise 6 bis 35 beträgt und R ein gesättigter Kohlenwasserstoffrest mit bis zu 10 Kohlenstoffatomen ist, wobei die Zahl der Substituenten an der R- Gruppe 3 bis 6 ist. Die Alkylengruppen in jeder der Formeln (i) und (ii) können gerade oder verzweigte Ketten mit 2 bis 7, vorzugsweise 2 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen sein.
- Die obigen Polyoxyalkylenpolyamine, vorzugsweise Polyoxyalkylendiamine und Polyoxyalkylentriamine können durchschnittliche Molekulargewichte im Bereich von 200 bis 4 000 und vorzugsweise 400 bis 2 000 aufweisen. Die bevorzugten Polyoxyalkylenpolyamine schließen die Polyoxyethylen- und Polyoxypropylendiamine und die Polyoxypropylentriamine mit durchschnittlichen Molekulargewichten von 200 bis 2 000 ein. Die Polyoxyalkylenpolyamine sind kommerziell erhältlich und können beispielsweise von der Jefferson Chemical Company, Inc. unter den Handelsnamen "Jeffamines D-230, D-400, D-1000, D-2000 und T-403" bezogen werden.
- Das Amin reagiert leicht mit dem Dicarbonsäurematerial, z.B. Alkenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid, indem eine Öllösung, die 5 bis 95 Gewichtsprozent Dicarbonsäurematerials enthält, im allgemeinen 1 bis 10, z.B. 2 bis 6, Stunden lang auf 100 bis 250ºC, vorzugsweise 125 bis 175ºC erhitzt wird, bis die gewünschte Menge Wasser entfernt worden ist. Das Erhitzen wird vorzugsweise durchgeführt, um die Bildung von Imiden oder Mischungen von Imiden und Amiden anstelle von Amiden und Salzen zu fördern. Die Reaktionsverhältnisse können erheblich variieren, was von den Reaktanten, der Menge an überschüssigem Amin, der Art der gebildeten Bindungen usw. abhängt. Im allgemeinen werden 0,3 bis 2, vorzugsweise 0,3 bis 1,0, z.B. 0,4 bis 0,8, Mol Amin, z.B. Bis-primäres Amin, pro Mol des Dicarbonsäurerestgehalts, z.B. gepfropften Maleinsäureanhydridgehalts, verwendet. Beispielsweise wird 1 Mol Olefin mit ausreichend Maleinsäureanhydrid umgesetzt, um 1,10 Mol Maleinsäureanhydridgruppen pro Mol Olefin zuzusetzen, wenn in eine Mischung von Amiden und Imiden umgewandelt wird, etwa 0,55 Mol Amin mit 2 primären Aminogruppen würden vorzugsweise verwendet, d.h. 0,5 Mol Amin pro Mol Dicarbonsäurerest.
- Das Stickstoff enthaltende Dispergiermittel kann weiter durch Borierung behandelt werden, wie allgemein in der US-A-3 087 936 und 3 254 025 beschrieben ist.
- Tris(Hydroxymethyl)aminomethan (THAM) kann mit dem zuvor genannten Säurematerial umgesetzt werden, um Amide, Imide oder esterartige Additive zu bilden, wie in der GB-A-984 409 beschrieben ist, oder um Oxazolinverbindungen und borierte Oxazolinverbindungen zu bilden, wie beispielsweise in den US-A-4 102 798, 4 116 876 und 4 113 639 beschrieben ist.
- Die aschefreien Dispergiermittel können außerdem Ester sein, die sich von dem mit langkettigem Kohlenwasserstoffsubstituierten Dicarbonsäurematerial und von Hydroxyverbindungen wie einwertigen und mehrwertigen Alkoholen oder aromatischen Verbindungen wie Phenolen und Naphtholen ableiten. Die mehrwertigen Alkohole sind die am meisten bevorzugten Hydroxyverbindungen und enthalten vorzugsweise 2 bis 10 Hydroxygruppen, z.B. Ethylenglykol, Diethylenglykol, Triethylenglykol Tetraethylenglykol, Dipropylenglykol und andere Alkylenglykole, in denen der Alkylenrest 2 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatome enthält. Andere brauchbare mehrwertige Alkohole schließen Glycerin, Monooleat von Glycerin, Monostearat von Glycerin, Monomethylether von Glycerin, Pentaerythrit, Dipentaerythrit ein.
- Die Esterdispergiermittel können sich auch von ungesättigten Alkoholen wie Allylalkohol, Zimtalkohol, Propargylalkohol, 1- Cyclohexen-3-ol und Oleylalkohol ableiten. Noch andere Klassen von Alkoholen, die in der Lage sind, die erfindungsgemäßen Ester zu bilden, umfassen Ether-Alkohole und Amino-Alkohole und schließen beispielsweise die oxy-alkylen-, oxy-arylen-, amino- alkylen- und amino-arylen-substituierten Alkohole mit einem oder mehreren Oxy-alkylen-, Amino-alkylen-, Amino-arylen- oder Amino- arylen-Oxy-arylenresten ein. Beispiele hierfür sind Cellosolve, Carbitol, N,N,N',N'-Tetrahydroxytrimethylendiamin und Ether- Alkohole mit bis zu etwa 150 Oxy-alkylenresten, wobei der Alkylenrest 1 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatome enthält.
- Die Esterdispergiermittel können Diester von Bernsteinsäuren oder sauren Estern, d.h. teilweise veresterten Bernsteinsäuren, sowie teilweise veresterten mehrwertigen Alkoholen oder Phenolen, d.h. Estern mit freien Alkohol- oder phenolischen Hydroxylresten, sein. Die oben beschriebenen Ester liegen ebenfalls im Bereich der Erfindung.
- Das Esterdispergiermittel kann nach einem von verschiedenen bekannten Verfahren hergestellt werden, wie beispielsweise in der US-A-3 381 022 angegeben ist.
- Mannichbase-artige Dispergiermittel wie diejenigen, die in den US-A-3 649 229 und 3 798 165 beschrieben sind, können auch in diesen Zusammensetzungen verwendet werden. Solche Mannichbase- Dispergiermittel werden gebildet, indem ein kohlenwasserstoffsubstituiertes Mono- oder Polyhydroxybenzol mit hohem Molekulargewicht mit einem durchschnittlichen zahlenmäßigen Molekulargewicht von 1 000 oder größer mit Aminen (z.B. Polyalkylpolyaminen, Polyalkylenpolyaminen, aromatischen Aminen, carbonsäuresubstituierten Polyaminen und den Bernsteinsäureimiden, die von einer dieser Verbindungen mit einer olefinischen Bernsteinsäure oder einem olefinischen Bersteinsäureanhydrid gebildet worden sind) und Carbonylverbindungen (z.B. Formaldehyd oder Paraformaldehyd) umgesetzt wird. Die meisten solcher Dispergiermittel mit hohem Molekulargewicht, z.B. einem Molekulargewicht größer als 2 000, können die verbesserte Stabilität hinsichtlich Phasentrennung in "Additivpaketen" erreichen, indem sie mit den erfindungsgemäßen Salzen kombiniert werden.
- Hydroxyamine, die mit dem oben erwähnten, mit langkettigem Kohlenwasserstoffsubstituierten Dicarbonsäurematerial umgesetzt werden können, um Dispergiermittel zu bilden, schließen 2-Amino- 1-butanol, 2-Amino-2-methyl-1-propanol, p-(β-Hydroxyethyl)anilin, 2-Amino-1-propanol, 3-Amino-1-propanol, 2-Amino-2-methyl- 1,3-propandiol, 2-Amino-2-ethyl-1,3-propandiol, N-(β-Hydroxy- propyl )-N"-(β-aminoethyl)piperazin, Tris(Hydroxymethyl)aminomethan (auch als Trismethylolaminomethan bekannt), Ethanolamin, β-(β-Hydroxyethoxy)ethylamin ein. Mischungen dieser oder ähnlicher Amine können ebenfalls verwendet werden.
- Ein sehr geeignetes Dispergiermittel ist ein solches, das sich von Polyisobutylen ableitet, das mit Bernsteinsäureanhydridgruppen substituiert ist und mit Polyethylenaminen umgesetzt worden ist, z.B. Tetraethylenpentamin, Pentaethylenhexamin, Polyoxyethylen- und Polyoxypropylenaminen, z.B. Polyoxypropylendiamin, Trismethylolaminomethan und Pentaerythrit, sowie Kombinationen derselben. Eine bevorzugte Dispergiermittelkombination enthält eine Kombination von (A) Polyisobuten, das mit Bernsteinsäureanhydridgruppen substituiert ist und mit (B) einer Hydroxyverbindung, z.B. Pentaerythrit, (C) einem Polyoxyalkylenpolyamin, z.B. Polyoxypropylendiamin, und (D) einem Polyalkylenpolyamin, z.B. Polyethylendiamin und Tetraethylenpentamin, umgesetzt worden ist, wobei jeweils 0,3 bis 2 Mol von (B) und (D) und 0,3 bis 2 Mol von (C) pro Mol (A) wie in der US-A-3 804 763 beschrieben verwendet worden sind.
- Eine andere bevorzugte Dispergiermittelkombination enthält die Kombination von (A) Polyisobutenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid mit (B) einem Polyalkylenpolyamin, z.B. Tetraethylenpentamin, und (C) einem mehrwertigen Alkohol oder polyhydroxysubstituierten, aliphatischen, primären Amin, z.B. Pentaerythrit oder Trismethylolaminomethan, wie beschrieben in der US-A-3 632 511.
- Metall enthaltende Rostinihibitoren und/oder Tenside werden häufig zusammen mit aschefreien Dispergiermitteln verwendet. Derartige Tenside und Rostinhibitoren schließen öllösliche Mono- und Dicarbonsäuren, die Metallsalze von Sulfonsäuren, Alkylphenolen, sulfurisierten Alkylphenolen, Alkylsalicylaten und Naphthenaten ein. Hochbasische (oder "überbasische") Metallsalze, die häufig als Tenside verwendet werden, scheinen insbesondere für die Wechselwirkung mit dem aschefreien Dispergiermittel geeignet zu sein. Üblicherweise werden diese Metall enthaltenden Rostinhibitoren und Tenside in Schmieröl bezogen auf das Gewicht der gesamten Schmierzusammensetzung in Mengen von etwa 0,01 bis 10, z.B. 0,1 bis 5 Gew.% eingesetzt.
- Hochbasische Erdalkalimetallsulfonate werden häufig als Tenside verwendet. Sie werden üblicherweise hergestellt, indem eine Mischung, die ein öllösliches Sulfonat oder eine öllösliche Alkarylsulfonsäure enthält, mit einem Überschuß an Erdalkalimetallverbindung über das Maß hinaus, das zur vollständigen Neutralisation aller vorhandenen Sulfonsäure notwendig ist, erhitzt und anschließend ein dispergierter Carbonatkomplex gebildet wird, indem das überschüssige Metall mit Kohlendioxid umgesetzt wird, um die gewünschte Überbasizität zu liefern. Die Sulfonsäuren werden typischerweise durch Sulfonierung von alkylsubstituierten, aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffen wie denjenigen erhalten, die durch Fraktionierung von Erdöl durch Destillation und/oder Extraktion oder durch Alkylierung von aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffen erhalten werden, wie beispielsweise diejenigen, die durch Alkylierung von Benzol, Toluol, Xylol, Naphthalin, Diphenyl und den Halogenderivaten wie Chlorbenzol, Chlortoluol und Chlornaphthalin erhalten werden. Die Alkylierung kann in Gegenwart eines Katalysators mit Alkylierungsmitteln mit etwa 3 bis mehr als 30 Kohlenstoffatomen durchgeführt werden. Beispielsweise sind Halogenparaffine, Olefine, die durch Dehydrierung von Paraffinen erhalten werden, Polyolefinpolymere, die aus Ethylen, Propylen usw. hergestellt worden sind, alle geeignet. Die Alkarylsulfonate enthalten üblicherweise 9 bis 70 oder mehr Kohlenstoffatome, vorzugsweise 16 bis 50 Kohlenstoffatome pro alkylsubstituiertem aromatischem Rest.
- Die Erdalkalimetallverbindungen, die beim Neutralisieren dieser Alkarylsulfonsäuren verwendet werden können, um die Sulfonate zu liefern, schließen die Oxide und Hydroxide, Alkoxide, Carbonate, Carboxylate, Sulfide, Hydrosulfide, Nitrate, Borate und Ether von Magnesium, Calcium, Strontium und Barium ein. Beispiele sind Calciumoxid, Calciumhydroxid, Magnesiumoxid, Magnesiumacetat und Magnesiumborat. Wie festgestellt worden ist, wird die Erdalkalimetallverbindung im Überschuß dessen verwendet, was notwendig ist, um die Neutralisation der Alkarylsulfonsäuren zu vervollständigen. Im allgemeinen liegt die Menge im Bereich von 100 bis 220%, wobei es bevorzugt ist, mindestens 125% der stöchiometrischen Menge Metall zu verwenden, die zur vollständigen Neutralisation benötigt wird.
- Verschiedene andere Herstellungen von basischen Erdalkalialkarylsulfonaten sind bekannt, z.B. aus den US-A-3 150 088 und 3 150 089, in denen die Überbasizität durch Hydrolyse eines Alkoxid-Carbonat-Komplexes mit dem Alkarylsulfonat in einem Kohlenwasserstofflösungsmittel-Verdünnungsöl erreicht wird.
- Ein bevorzugtes Erdalkalisulfonatadditiv ist Magnesiumalkarylsulfonat mit einer hohen Gesamtbasezahl wie gemessen gemäß ASTM D2896 ("TBN") im Bereich von 300 bis 400, wobei der Magnesiumsulfonatgehalt bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht des in Mineralschmieröl dispergierten Additivsystems im Bereich von 25 bis 32 Gew.% liegt.
- Neutrale Metallsulfonate werden häufig als Rostinhibitoren verwendet. Mehrwertige Metallalkylsalicylat- und -naphthenatmaterialien sind bekannte Additive für Schmierölzusammensetzungen, die verwendet werden, um deren Hochtemperaturleistung zu verbessern und der Ablagerung von kohlenstoffartiger Substanz auf den Kolben entgegenzuwirken (US-A-2 744 069). Ein Ansteigen der Reservebasizität der mehrwertigen Metallalkylsalicylate und -naphthenate kann verwirklicht werden, indem Erdalkalimetallsalze, z.B. Calciumsalze,von Mischungen von C&sub8;- bis C&sub2;&sub6;-Salicylaten und -phenolaten (siehe US-A-2 744 069) oder mehrwertige Metallsalze von Alkylsalicylsäuren verwendet werden, die durch die Alkylierung von Phenolen und anschließende Phenolatbildung, Carboxylierung und Hydrolyse erhalten worden sind (US-A-3 704 315), die dann nach den allgemein bekannten und für eine derartige Umwandlung verwendeten Verfahren in hochbasische Salze umgewandelt werden können. Die Reservebasizität dieser Metall enthaltenden Rostinhibitoren ist bei TBN-Niveaus von 60 bis 150 nützlich. Zu den brauchbaren mehrwertigen Metallsalicylat- und -naphthenatmaterialien gehören die methylen- und schwefel-überbrückten Materialien, die leicht aus alkylsubstituierten Salicyl- und Naphthensäuren oder Mischungen von entweder einem oder beiden mit alkylsubstituierten Phenolen erhalten werden können. Basische, sulfurisierte Salicylate und ein Verfahren zu deren Herstellung sind in der US-A-3 595 791 beschrieben. Derartige Materialien schließen Erdalkalimetallsalze, insbesondere Magnesium-, Calcium-, Strontium- und Bariumsalze von aromatischen Säuren mit der allgemeinen Formel
- HOOC-ArR&sub1;-Xy(ArR&sub1;OH)n
- ein, in der Ar ein Arylrest mit 1 bis 6 Ringen ist, R&sub1; eine Alkylgruppe mit 8 bis 50 Kohlenstoffatomen, vorzugsweise 12 bis 30 Kohlenstoffatomen (optimalerweise etwa 12) ist, X eine Schwefel-(-S-) oder Methylen-(-CH&sub2;-)-Brücke ist, y eine Zahl von 0 bis 4 ist und n eine Zahl von 0 bis 4 ist.
- Die Herstellung von überbasischem, methylenüberbrücktem Salicylat-Phenolat-Salz wird leicht durchgeführt, indem herkömmliche Verfahrensweisen wie Alkylierung eines Phenols mit anschließender Phenolatbildung, Carboxylierung, Hydrolyse, Methylenüberbrückung eines Kupplungsmittels wie einem Alkylendihalogenid und anschließender Salzbildung, die gleichzeitig mit der Carbonisierung erfolgt. Ein überbasisches Calciumsalz einer methylenüberbrückten Phenolsalicylsäure mit der allgemeinen Formel:
- mit einer TBN von 60 bis 150 ist erfindungsgemäß äußerst brauchbar.
- Eine andere Art von basischem Metalltensid, die sulfurisierten Metallphenolate, können als Metallsalz, entweder neutral oder basisch, einer Verbindung bezeichnet werden, die durch die allgemeine Formel:
- veranschaulicht ist, in der x = 1 oder 2 ist, n = 0,1 oder 2 ist, oder eine polymere Form einer derartigen Verbindung, wobei R ein Alkylrest ist, n und x jeweils Zahlen von 1 bis 4 sind und die durchschnittliche Zahl der Kohlenstoffatome in allen der R- Gruppen mindestens etwa 9 ist, um adäquate Löslichkeit in Öl sicherzustellen. Die einzelnen R-Gruppen können jeweils 5 bis 40, vorzugsweise 8 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten. Das Metallsalz wird hergestellt, indem ein Alkylphenolsulfid mit einer ausreichenden Menge eines Metall enthaltenden Materials umgesetzt wird, um dem sulfurisierten Metallphenolat die gewünschte Alkalinität zu vermitteln.
- Unabhängig von der Weise, in der sie hergestellt werden, enthalten die brauchbaren sulfurisierten Alkylphenole bezogen auf das Gewicht des sulfurierten Alkylphenols im allgemeinen 2 bis 14 Gew.%, vorzugsweise 4 bis 12 Gew.% Schwefel.
- Das sulfurisierte Alkylphenol kann durch Umsetzung mit einem Metall enthaltenden Material, das Oxide, Hydroxide und Komplexe einschließt, in einer Menge, die ausreicht, das Phenol zu neutralisieren, umgewandelt werden und, falls erwünscht, das Produkt kann bis zu einer gewünschten Alkalinität durch in der Technik bekannte Verfahren überbasisch gemacht werden. Bevorzugt ist ein Neutralisationsverfahren, bei dem eine Lösung von Metall in einem Glykolether verwendet wird.
- Die neutralen oder normalen, sulfurisierten Metallphenolate sind diejenigen, bei denen das Verhältnis von Metall zum Phenolkern etwa 1:2 beträgt. Die "überbasischen" oder "basischen", sulfurisierten Metallphenolate sind sulfurisierte Metallphenolate, bei denen das Verhältnis von Metall zu Phenol größer ist als das stöchiometrische Verhältnis, z.B. weist basisches, sulfurisiertes Metalldodecylphenolat einen Metallgehalt von bis zu (oder größer als) 100% Überschuß gegenüber dem Metall auf, das in den entsprechenden normalen, sulfurisierten Metallphenolaten vorhanden ist. Das Überschußmetall wird in einer öllöslichen oder dispergierbaren Form (wie durch Reaktion mit CO&sub2;) hergestellt.
- Dikohlenwasserstoffdithiophosphatmetallsalze werden Schmierölzusammensetzungen häufig als Antiverschleißmittel zugesetzt. Sie zeigen außerdem Antioxidanswirkung. Die Zinksalze werden am üblichsten in Schmieröl bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht der Schmierölzusammensetzung in Mengen von 0,1 bis 10, vorzugsweise 0,2 bis 2 Gew.% verwendet. Sie können nach bekannten Verfahren hergestellt werden, wobei zuerst üblicherweise durch Reaktion eines Alkohols oder eines Phenols mit P&sub2;S&sub5; eine Dithiophosphorsäure hergestellt wird und dann die Dithiophosphorsäure mit einer geeigneten Zinkverbindung neutralisiert wird.
- Es können Mischungen von Alkoholen verwendet werden, einschließlich Mischungen von primären und sekundären Alkoholen, wobei sekundäre Alkohole im allgemeinen zur Verbesserung der Antiverschließeigenschaften verwendet werden und primäre Alkohole verbesserte thermische Stabilitätseigenschaften vermitteln. Mischungen beider sind besonders brauchbar. Im allgemeinen kann jede basische oder neutrale Zinkverbindung verwendet werden, aber die Oxide, Hydroxide und Carbonate werden am üblichsten verwendet. Kommerzielle Additive enthalten wegen der Verwendung eines Überschusses der basischen Zinkverbindung bei der Neutralisationsreaktion häufig einen Überschuß an Zink.
- Die bei der vorliegenden Erfindung brauchbaren Zinkdikohlenwasserstoffdithiophosphate sind öllösliche Salze von Dikohlenwasserstoffestern von Dithiophosphorsäuren und können die folgende Formel:
- aufweisen, in der R und R' die gleichen oder verschiedene Kohlenwasserstoffreste mit 1 bis 18, vorzugsweise 2 bis 12 Kohlenstoffatomen sein können und Reste wie Alkyl, Alkenyl, Aryl, Aralkyl und Alkaryl und cycloaliphatische Reste einschließen. Besonders bevorzugt als R- und R'-Gruppen sind Alkylgruppen mit 2 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen. Daher können die Reste beispielsweise Ethyl, n-Propyl, i-Propyl, n-Butyl, i-Butyl, sek-Butyl, Amyl, n- Hexyl, i-Hexyl, n-Octyl, Decyl, Dodecyl, Octadecyl, 2-Ethylhexyl, Phenyl, Butylphenyl, Cyclohexyl, Methylcyclopentyl, Propenyl und Butenyl sein. Um Öllöslichkeit zu erhalten, ist die Gesamtzahl der Kohlenstoffatome (d.h. R und R') in der Dithiophosphorsäure im allgemeinen etwa 5 oder größer.
- Ein Material, das als Antioxidans in Schmierölzusammensetzungen verwendet worden ist, die ein Zinkdikohlenwasserstoffdithiophosphat und aschefreies Dispergiermittel enthalten, ist Kupfer, das in Form eines synthetischen oder neutralen Carbonsäuresalzes vorliegen kann. Beispiele schließen C&sub1;&sub0;-C&sub1;&sub8;-Fettsäuren wie Stearinsäure oder Palmitinsäure ein. Aber ungesättigte Säuren (wie Ölsäure), verzweigte Carbonsäuren (wie naphthenische Säuren) mit Molekulargewichten von 200 bis 500 und synthetische Carbonsäuren sind wegen der akzeptablen Handhabbarkeit und Löslichkeitseigenschaften der resultierenden Kupfercarboxylate verwendet worden.
- Kupfersulfonate, -phenolate und -acetylacetonate können ebenfalls verwendet werden.
- Diese Antioxidantien werden in solchen Mengen verwendet, daß in der fertigen Schmier- oder Brennstoffzusammensetzung eine Kupferkonzentration von 5 bis 500 ppm vorhanden ist.
- Das kompatibilisierende erfindungsgemäße Material kann anstelle mindestens eines Teils dieser Antioxidantien verwendet werden.
- Die erfindungsgemäß verwendbaren Metallsalze sind Kupfersalze, entweder in der Cu(I) oder Cu(II)-Form.
- Diese Salze selbst können basisch, neutral oder sauer sein. Sie können gebildet werden, indem (a) eines der oben in dem Abschnitt Dispergiermittel beschriebenen Materialien, das mindestens eine freie Carbonsäuregruppe aufweist, mit (b) einer reaktiven Kupferverbindung umgesetzt wird. Geeignete reaktive Metallverbindungen schließen solche wie Kupfer(I)- oder Kupfer(II)-hydroxide, -oxyde, -acetate, -borate und -carbonate oder basisches Kupfercarbonat ein.
- Beispiele der erfindungsgemäßen Metallsalze sind Kupfersalze von Polyisobutenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid (im folgenden als Cu-PIBSA bezeichnet) und Kupfersalze der Polyisobutenylbernsteinsäure. Vorzugsweise wird das ausgewählte Metall in seiner zweiwertigen Form, z.B. Cu²&spplus;, verwendet. Die bevorzugten Substrate sind Polyalkenylbernsteinsäuren, in denen die Alkenylgruppe ein Molekulargewicht größer als etwa 700 aufweist. Die Alkenylgruppe hat wünschenswerterweise ein Mn von 900 bis 1 400 und bis zu 2 500, wobei ein Mn von etwa 950 am meisten bevorzugt ist. Besonders bevorzugt von den oben in dem Abschnitt Dispergiermittel aufgeführten Verbindungen ist Polyisobutenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid (PIBSA). Diese Materialien können wünschenswerterweise in einem Lösungsmittel wie einem Mineralöl gelöst und in Gegenwart einer Wasserlösung (oder Aufschlämmung) des Metall enthaltenden Materials erhitzt werden. Das Erhitzen kann zwischen 70ºC und 200ºC erfolgen. Temperaturen von 110ºC bis 140ºC sind völlig adäquat. In Abhängigkeit von dem hergestellten Salz kann es notwendig sein, nicht zu erlauben, daß die Reaktion längere Zeit bei einer Temperatur oberhalb von 140ºC abläuft, z.B. länger als 5 Stunden, weil sonst Zersetzung des Salzes auftreten kann.
- Die erfindungsgemäßen Metallsalze (z.B. Cu-PIBSA) werden bezogen auf das Metallgewicht, im allgemeinen in einer Menge von 1 bis 1000 ppm und vorzugsweise 50 bis 500 ppm in der fertigen Schmier- oder Brennstoffzusammensetzung eingesetzt.
- Die Erfindung wird besser anhand der folgenden Beispiele verstanden, in denen alle Teile, so lange nicht anders angegeben, Gewichtsteile sind. Die Beispiele sollen die Erfindung nur veranschaulichen, sollen sie aber in keiner Weise beschränken.
- Ein Polyisobutenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid (PIBSA) wurde aus einem Polyisobutylen(PIB)molekül mit einem Mn von 1300 hergestellt, indem eine Mischung von 100 Teilen Polyisobutylen und 13,5 Teilen Maleinsäureanhydrid auf eine Temperatur von etwa 220ºC erhitzt wurde. Als die Temperatur 120ºC erreichte, wurde mit der Chlorzugabe begonnen und mit konstanter Geschwindigkeit wurden der Mischung etwa 5,5 Stunden lang 8,3 Teile Chlor zugesetzt. Die Reaktionsmischung wurde dann etwa 1,5 Stunden lang bei 220ºC wärmebehandelt und anschließend mit Stickstoff etwa 1 Stunde lang gestrippt.
- Das PIBSA-Produkt bestand zu 83,3 Gewichtsprozent aus wirksamem Bestandteil (a.i.), wobei der Rest in erster Linie nicht umgesetztes PIB war. Dann wurde das Produkt mit S 150 N auf eine ASTM-Verseifungszahl von 69 und einen Gehalt an wirksamem Bestandteil von 59 verdünnt.
- Etwa 423,7 g einer 59 gewichtsprozentigen Öllösung des wie in Beispiel 1 beschrieben hergestellten PIBSA wurden mit 52 g Kupfer(II)acetat, 577 g Mineralöl Lösungsmittel 150 N und 15 ml Wasser gemischt. Die Reaktionsmischung wurde langsam auf 90ºC erhitzt und bei dieser Temperatur 4 Stunden lang behandelt. Anschließend wurde die Reaktionsmischung auf 130ºC erhitzt und 1 Stunde lang mit Stickstoff gespült. Die Öllösung wurde heiß filtriert. Die 26,5 Gew.% wirksamer Bestandteil enthielten gemäß Analyse 1,25 Gew.% Kupfer.
- Mehrere Konzentrate, die in Schmierölzusammensetzungen verwendet werden sollen, wurden gemischt, wobei entweder Kupferoleat-Antioxidans und PIBSA oder Kupferoleat-Antioxidans und Cu-PIBSA verwendet wurden, um die überlegene Stabilität zu demonstrieren, die durch die Verwendung von Cu-PIBSA geliefert wird.
- Die Konzentrate wurden so gemischt, daß, wenn sie mit einem Basisöl verdünnt wurden, sie als vollständig formulierte Schmiermittel brauchbar gewesen wären. Jede Konzentratmischung enthielt etwa gleiche Mengen PIBSA-Polyamin-Dispergiermittel, überbasisches Magnesiumsulfonattensid, ZDDP, Nonylphenolsulfid mund Reibungsmodifizierungsmittel zusammen mit den unten angegebenen Komponenten in Gewichtsprozent: Komponente Basisfall Dispergiermittel Tensid ZDDP Nonylphenolsulfid Reibungsmodifizierungsmittel Verdünnungsöl Kupfer(II)oleat (4% Cu) Produkt von Beispiel
- Dies führte zu einem äquivalenten Kupfergehalt (auf Metallbasis) in jedem der folgenden Konzentrate: Basisfall Gewichtsproz. Cu aus dem Oleat Gewichtsproz. Cu aus dem Cu-PIBSA Gesamt
- Diese drei Konzentrate wurden einem Stabilitätstest bei zwei erhöhten Temperaturen unterzogen. Dieser Test soll eine längere Lagerung des Konzentrats bei der maximal erlaubten Temperatur simulieren, wobei diese Bedingungen für die Konzentratsedimentierung oder Trübungsentwicklung am förderlichsten sind.
- Die Ergebnisse waren wie folgt: Basisfall
- Es ist daher klar, daß der Austausch des Kupferoleats durch das Produkt von Beispiel 2 eine wesentliche Verbesserung gegenüber der Verwendung des Kupferoleats allein lieferte. Ferner war das Produkt von Beispiel 2 bei der Stabilisierung des Konzentrats erheblich effektiver als es das PIBSA selbst bei äquivalenten Kupferkonzentrationen war.
Claims (14)
1. Zusammensensetzung, die:
ein Dispergiermittelmaterial ausgewählt aus:
(a) einem monoungesättigte,
kohlenwasserstoffsubstituierte C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Dicarbonsäure produzierenden
Reaktionsprodukt, das durch Umsetzung von
Olefinpolymer von C&sub2;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Monoolefinen mit einem
durchschnittlichen zahlenmäßigen Molekulargewicht größer als
900 und einem monoungesättigten
C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Säurematerial hergestellt worden ist, und
(b) einem Mannichbase-Dispergiermittel mit hohem
Molekulargewicht, das sich von einem
kohlenwasserstoffsubstituierten Mono- oder Polyhydroxybenzol
mit einem Molekulargewicht größer als 1 000
ableitet,
ein Metalltensidmaterial mit hoher Gesamtbasezahl,
ein Antioxidans ausgewählt aus Kupfersalzen von
synthetischen oder natürlichen Carbonsäuren und Kupfersulfonaten,
-phenolaten und -acetylacetonaten und
ein
Zinkdikohlenwasserstoffdithiophosphat-Antiverschleißmaterial umfaßt,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Zusammensetzung ein
kompatibilisierendes Material enthält, das ein Kupfersalz eines
monoungesättigte, kohlenwasserstoffsubstituierte C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Mono-
oder -Dicarbonsäure produzierenden Reaktionsprodukts umfaßt,
das durch Umsetzung von Olefinpolymer von C&sub2;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Monoolefin
mit einem durchschnittlichen zahlenmäßigen Molekulargewicht
größer als etwa 700 und eines monoungesättigten
C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Säurematerials hergestellt worden ist.
2. Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 1, bei der das
kompatibilisierende Material ein Kupfersalz einer
Polyisobutenylbernsteinsäure ist.
3. Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 1 oder Anspruch 2, bei der das
zur Herstellung des kompatibilisierenden Materials
verwendete Olefinpolymer ein durchschnittliches zahlenmäßiges
Molekulargewicht von 900 bis 2 500, vorzugsweise 900 bis 1 400
aufweist.
4. Zusammensetzung nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, bei der
das Tensidmaterial ein überbasisches
Erdalkalimetallsulfonat, vorzugsweise ein überbasisches Calcium- oder
Magnesiumsulfonat ist.
5. Zusammensetzung nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, bei der
das zur Herstellung des Dispergiermittels verwendete
monoungesättigte C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Säurematerial Maleinsäureanhydrid ist.
6. Zusammensetzung nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 5, bei der
das zur Herstellung des Dispergiermittels verwendete
Olefinpolymer ein Polybuten, vorzugsweise Polyisobutylen ist.
7. Zusammensetzung nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6, die
außerdem eine kleinere Menge eines Verdünnungsöls enthält.
8. Zusammensetzung nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6, die
außerdem eine größere Menge eines Schmieröls enthält.
9. Zusammensetzung nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 8, die
außerdem ein Reibungsmodifizierungsmittelmaterial enthält.
10. Zusammensetzung nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 9, die ein
Kupfercarboxylatsalz mit niedrigem Molekulargewicht,
vorzugsweise Kupferoleat enthält.
11. Zusammensetzung nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 10, bei der
das Dispergieremittelmaterial ein Reaktionsprodukt von:
(a) einem monoungesättigte,
kohlenwasserstoffsubstituierte C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Dicarbonsäure produzierenden
Reaktionsprodukt,
das durch Umsetzung von
Olefinpolymer von C&sub2;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Monoolefin mit einem
durchschnittlichen zahlenmäßigen Molekulargewicht größer als
etwa 900 und einem monoungesättigten
C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Säurematerial hergestellt worden ist, und
(b) einen basischen Reaktanten ausgewählt aus Aminen,
Aminoalkoholen und Mischungen derselben umfaßt.
12. Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 11, bei der das zur
Herstellung des Dispergiermittels verwendete basische Material ein
Polyalkylenamin ist, bei dem die darin enthaltenen
Alkylengruppen 2 bis 6 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten und das
Polyalkylenamin etwa 2 bis 12 Stickstoffatome pro Molekül enthält.
13. Zusammensetzung nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 12, bei der
das Dispergiermittelmaterial boriert ist.
14. Verwendung eines Kupfersalzes eines monoungesättigte,
kohlenwasserstoffsubstituierte C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Mono- oder -Dicarbonsäure
produzierenden Reaktionsprodukts als kompatibiliserendes
Material in einer Zusammensetzung gemäß einem der
vorhergehenden Ansprüche, wobei das Reaktionsprodukt durch
Umsetzung von Olefinpolymer von C&sub2;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Monoolefin mit einem
durchschnittlichen zahlenmäßigen Molekulargewicht größer als etwa
700 und einem monoungesättigten C&sub4;-C&sub1;&sub0;-Säurematerial
hergestellt worden ist.
