Description
The manufacture of incandescent bodies from tissues which contain organic salts which contain luminous earth is already mentioned by A u e r v o n W e 1 s b a c h been, but this thought only had a problematic interpretation because on the one hand from the salts in question, because of their low solubility, no suitable one Impregnation solution could be produced and on the other hand the practice in contrast to the assumption made by A u e r v o n W e 1 s b a c h that the Impregnation of the fabric intended for the production of incandescent gas bodies is only solutions are useful. The difficulties involved in obtaining a workable solution organic luminescent salts have been circumvented by using them as solvents instead of pure water used dilute formic acid, in which thorium acetate is soluble (patent z69643).
So up to now one was forced to pay for one and the same amount of money of each of the two acids in the amounts equivalent to the thorium content of the solution to use, which naturally increases the production costs. Because through the Drying of the soaked fabric at the same time as the moisture itself: also the unbound Amount of acid volatilized; so is for further processing of the soaked fabric the one equivalent of the amount of acid used is meaningless and lost.
The present invention now has a second route of manufacture a solution of organic luminous salts, and this has before the previously known Advantage of avoiding the need for and loss of excess acid will.
Trägt man z. Attempts have led to the peculiar result that one for the impregnation of the tissue can be represented by a suitable solution if one in the Dissolution of an organic luminous salt instead of the second organic acid Add salt of the same which the base has in common with the first salt; so dissolves z. B. Thorium acetate in water, if one used in place of the previously used Formic acid adds the equivalent amount of thorium formate. It comes naturally at the same time if we consider thorium in the form of hydrate or carbonate goes out and dissolves these compounds in the appropriate amount of the acid mixture. If you wear z. B. Thoriurizoxydhydrat, as it is by precipitating from a solution of the commercially available Thorium nitrate obtained after washing out, in dilute formic acid, so it is initially resolved without difficulty; however, after a short time one occurs crystalline excretion of thorium formate, although the solution by the dem Thorium oxide hydrate adhering moisture was diluted. Also poor solubility shows the thorium oxide hydrate in acetic acid. However, if you use a mixture both acids, e.g. B. in the proportion of each one mole. Of each, then finds complete Dissolution will take place without the said elimination even if the entered amount of thorium oxide hydrate is the sum of the two equivalent amounts of acid is equivalent to.
The experiments described above leave the essence and the excellent Recognize the effect of the invention. In the cases. where a higher degree of concentration of the solution should be desirable when he becomes acquainted with the mixture of the salts z,% 3veier Acids can be achieved, other organic or inorganic acids can be used Use nature to help. The solubility ratios described for the Th, 'o @ rium can also be found in the others commonly used for the manufacture of the incandescent bodies Substances, and one can therefore also use cerium and other additional earths or oxides apply in the form of their organic salts. The usual reinforcing agents for the Call hanging or carrying points of the incandescent bodies are also, a, lls yorteilhaft wholly or partly used in the form of their organic salts. Hs.er is sensitive to these Make the incandescent body the effect of the organic luminous salts supports -and promoted.
The new process can be applied to tissues. made of natural fiber: and from Haze silk can be applied; and offers versus -drinking .with solutions of Exclusively inorganic salts have the advantage, that is, the aforementioned disadvantageous effect the pitric acid is completely eliminated. This advantage is not an option Tissues: of natural fibers, which; usually, form a nagbb & and-lung Fortsehaffugg. Are not subjected to nitric acid, but also to tissues, which are subjected to post-treatment, e.g. B. in those from I, unskid to the extent that the new process applies the soaked fabrics to the aftertreatment gives beneficial properties. Four progresses have already been mentioned, which lies in the fact that besides ccm the only previously known ways of impregnating the tissue With solutions of organic luminescent salts, the new process offers a second way is, which has the advantage that the presence of excess in the solvent Acid, which is lost when the tissue is dried, is unnecessary.
