Description

Verfahren zur Herstellung von konsistenten Schmiermitteln. Konsistente Schmiermittel wurden bisher gewöhnlich mit Kalkseifen hergestellt. Die Verwendung der Kalkseifen erforderte die Benutzung von Fetten, die hierdurch anderen Zwecken entzogen wurden. Das vorliegende Verfahren zur Herstellung konsistenter Schmiermittel besteht darin, daß die bisher verwendeten Kalkseifen durch die Alkali- oder Erdalkaliverbindungen des Karbolpechs ersetzt werden. Es hat sich gezeigt, daß das Karbolpech, welches bei der Destillation der aus dem Steinkohlenteer gewonnenen sauren Öle (Phenole) als Rückstand verbleibt, Stoffe enthält, deren Alkali- und Erdalkaliverbindungen mit Köhlenwasserstoffen homogene schmalzartige Emulsionen bilden, die als konsistente Schmiermittel verwendet werden können. Die Herstellung der konsistenten Schmiermittel nach dem vorliegenden Verfahren besteht darin, daß. man entweder Karbolpech mit Alkalihydroxyd, Erdalkalihydroxyd oder Mischungen beider erwärmt und mit Kohlenwasserstoffen mischt oder Karbolpech in Mineralölen, hochsiedenden Teerölen o. dgl. löst und zu dieser Mischung Alkalihydroxyd, Erdalkalihydroxyd oder eine Mischung beider hinzugibt und erwärmt. Das Gemisch verdickt sich, und es entsteht eine schmalzartige, dauernd haltbare Emulsion, die als Starrschmiere verwendet werden kann.
