Description

Process for the production of a therapeutically effective extract from rhamnus bark. The invention relates to a method for producing a therapeutic effective extract from rhamnus bark, in particular the drug Rhamus carneolica.

Rhamnus bark has already been used for medicinal purposes by one, the extraction of the bark through a pretreatment consisting in a lengthy one Heating to boiling water, d. H. roo °, followed by extraction. It has been found, however, that this method can be significantly improved can by heating under pressure, for example in the _ autoclave, up to. increases to about 14o °. You get an extract of qualitative and quantitative better properties. Clinical trials have shown this to work produced extracts, especially from Rhamnus carneolica, milder and at the same time also-have a stronger effect than the extracts made after the previously common method were manufactured. However, you must not increase the temperature above 14o °, because if the pressure is too high a decomposition of the extract: begins and thus the clinical Effects are reduced again. In addition, the extraction of the extract is increased by the Warming increased to 14o °, from 15 percent to about 25 percent the dry matter. While the rharnus preparations used so far in general come from Rhamnus frangula, it is possible in this way to also include Rhamnus carneolica to use for therapeutic purposes - which has not been the case so far.

The extracts produced by the process described have a high clinical effectiveness and a: little pronounced taste; they also do not show the disadvantages of the preparations of Rhamnus frangula, which consist mainly of nausea. As a result of the heating process up to 140 °, the therapeutically inactive compounds which are insoluble in water and alcohol are apparently hydrolyzed and converted into effective water-soluble substances. Example. 50 g of dried bark of Rhamnus carneolica are heated in an autoclave with superheated vapors to r40 ° for about 8 hours. Once removed, the bark is chopped up and extracted in the usual way.
