Bracket for securing plant boxes in window sills

Plant box guards in window sills are used to prevent plant boxes from falling over due to overhanging plants, wind influences or accidental impacts.

Plant box security devices of a well-known design consist of brackets that are attached to the house wall or window sill using dowels and screws, or by chiseling holes and bricking them in.

This usual method of attaching brackets involves interference with the building structure, e.g. plaster and masonry or damage to thermal insulation layers, which in turn causes subsequent damage. The traces and consequences of these interventions can only be removed with complex repair work after the brackets used to secure plant boxes have been removed. Attaching the usual brackets to secure plant boxes is time-consuming, requires manual skills, special tools and involves dangerous handling, e.g. leaning far out of the window.

The invention specified in claim 1 is based on the problem of creating a plant box security system for window sills which does not require any intervention in the building structure.

This problem is solved with the features listed in claim 1.

The invention ensures that no intervention in the building structure is necessary for the installation of the brackets for securing the plant box. Special tools, manual skills and dangerous handling are not required. There is no subsequent damage to the building structure due to frost and water. The entire plant box securing system can be removed easily and without leaving any traces of damage when it is no longer needed, for example in the winter months.

An advantageous embodiment of the invention is specified in claim 2. By attaching protective caps made of plastic to the material ends of the brackets, physical damage due to the risk of injury is prevented, and damage to window sills and plant boxes is excluded. The wing screw is given a plastic plate to give the construction a secure hold when tightened.

The plant box security in window sills consists of 2 brackets that are mounted about 80 millimeters from the end of the plant box. A bracket for plant box security consists of a 90° bent flat material, the long leg (1) of which extends 110 millimeters above the window sill, while the short leg (2) is 30 millimeters long and has a hole (3) with an M8 thread in the middle to accommodate a wing screw (4) M8x40. A counter bearing angle (5) with a leg length of 20x40 millimeters and the same material width and thickness as (1) is connected to (1) by welding points (6) 90 millimeters below the top edge of (1) with the 40 millimeter long leg pointing inwards towards the window (10) and the 20 millimeter long leg pointing upwards. It serves as a counter bearing for (4). The construction is placed on the protruding window sill (7) and tightened with (4). The distance between (2) and (5) depends on the thickness of the window sill

(7), whereby the wing screw (4) allows a certain amount of play. The exposed ends of (1), (2) and (5) are covered with light-resistant plastic caps

(8) to prevent injuries or damage to the window sill (7) and the planter (11). For stability, a rectangular plastic plate (9) is attached to the wing screw (4).

Claims (2)

1. Bracket for securing plant boxes in window sills, with one long leg ( 1 ) and one short leg ( 2 ), whereby 1. a wing screw ( 4 ) is rotatably inserted in the short leg ( 2 ), 2. a counter bearing angle ( 5 ) is rigidly attached to the long leg ( 1 ), 3. the distance between the lower edge of the counter bearing angle ( 5 ) and the upper edge of the wing screw ( 4 ) is at least 2 millimetres when screwed in. 2. Bracket according to claim 1, 1. the ends of the long leg ( 1 ), short leg ( 2 ) and counter bearing angle ( 5 ) are protected by attached plastic caps ( 8 ), 2. whose wing screw ( 4 ) has a mounted plastic plate ( 9 ) as its upper edge.
