Die Vorderseiten der bisher gebräuchlichen Elemente sind aus Lochblechen hergestellt. Diese Lochbleche haben einen Lochanteil, welcher der Absorptionsfläche entspricht, von ca. 30 %. Die Materialstärken dieser Lochbleche liegen bei Aluminium bei 0,8 mm und bei Edelstahl bei 1,2 mm. Die in Blech ausgeführte Rückseite dieser Elemente wird dann ohne Lochanteil ausgeführt. Als Schallabsorber wird zwischen den Blechen meist ein maximal 40 mm starker Faserdämmstoff eingesetzt. Dadurch liegt das Gewicht solcher Elemente bei 22 kg/qm. Die tragende Funktion dieses Lärmschutzelementes übernimmt eine Stahlrahmenkonstruktion, die sich zwischen dem Lochblech und der Holzbetonplatte befindet. Dadurch bildet sich automatisch eine Luftschicht zwischen der Front und der Holzbetonplatte, die die Schallabsorption bzw.
