Abstract

The valve has a magnetic head (2) with a core (10) containing an armature (19) which moves against a spring bias and which carries a sealing bolt (20) for closing a valve passage. The valve chamber (17) is defined by this core (10) and a second core (12) on the opposite side with both ends of the bolt (20) acting as sealing surfaces (21, 21') and the gap between the armature (19) and the cores (10, 12) being less in the direction opposing the spring bias than in the direction of the spring bias. The function of the valve can be selectively altered between closure when flow ceases and opening when flow crases, with the armatures (10, 12) sealing bolt (20) and bias spring (22) rotated through 180 degrees relative to the valve chamber.
