Abstract

1,158,311. Valves. MARTONAIR Ltd. 26 Sept., 1966 [29 June, 1965], No. 27382/65. Heading F2V. The valve produces an output pressure which varies with a signal applied magnetically to the valve member. As shown, the loose ball valve member 5 of magnetic material is movable in a chamber 4 between two seats 6, 7. Variable bias toward one or the other of the seats is set up by an electric signal applied to coils 9, 10 near the respective seats. Flow to the valve takes place through a restricted orifice 8. The required output pressure can be the downstream pressure P3 or a pressure taken directly from the passage 2. The valve member can be magnetized and the coils replaced by movable permanent magnets. In a modification, the ball 5 is replaced by a flat topped conical closure (17), Fig. 2 (not shown), having a stem (20) movable in the opening of seat (6).
