Die Kettenglieder müssen in bestimmten Abständen geschmiert werden, um die Flexibilität zu erhalten. Schließlich sind Spannelemente notwendig, um den der Trommel zugewandten Teil der Ketten unter Spannung zu halten. Die Montagezeit ist bei diesem Wanderdeckel außerordentlich hoch, da zunächst die Enden der Deckelstäbe in den Buchsen der Ketten befestigt und anschließend maßgenau auf den Gleitführungen montiert werden müssen. Dadurch können die Deckelstäbe entgegen der Bandspannung oder Federkraft bei plötzlichen Widerständen ausweichen. Eine vorteilhafte Lösung besteht darin, daß die Deckelstäbe in formschlüssigen Gleitführungen angeordnet sind. Zur erleichterten Gleitung können die Enden der Deckelstäbe etwa über Kugellager in den Gleitführungen gleiten. Eine bevorzugte Ausführung sieht vor, daß die Deckelstäbe auf der der Tronunelgarnitur zugekehrten Seite an wenigen Stellen, vorzugsweise an einer Steile, einen Spalt offenlassen, durch den Staub abgesaugt werden kann.
