Description
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von
Chlorcyclohexanderivaten der allgemeinen Formel I
worin R Wasserstoff oder eine Alkylgruppe mit 1 bis 3 Kohlenstoffatomen,
wobei n die Werte 1 oder 2 annimmt, bedeutet.
Die Chlorcyclohexanderivate sind sehr wichtige Rohmaterialien
in der synthetisch-chemischen Industrie.
Die halogenierten Cyclohexanderivate werden gewöhnlich durch
Halogenierung von Cyclohexan oder durch Umsetzung von Cyclohexanol
mit Halogenwasserstoff hergestellt. Bei der ersteren
Methode wird molekulares Halogen verwendet, welches toxisch
wirkt, und man bekommt eine große Menge an Halogenwasserstoff
als Nebenprodukt. Die letztere Methode erfordert als Ausgangsstoff
Cyclohexanol, dessen Herstellung kompliziert ist
oder zu geringen Ausbeuten führt.
Cyclohexanderivate können aus Cyclohexen in vergleichsweise
hohen Ausbeuten hergestellt werden. Cyclohexen läßt sich aus
Benzol durch selektive Hydrierung gemäß den US-PS 33 91 206
und 37 93 383 sowie der DE-OS 22 21 137 erhalten, doch
muß man dabei mit niedrigen Ausbeuten arbeiten, um eine hohe
Cyclohexenselektivität zu erhalten, da Cyclohexen leichter
als Benzol hydriert wird.
Die der Erfindung zugrundeliegende Aufgabe bestand somit darin,
ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Chlorcyclohexanderivaten
der allgemeinen Formel (I) direkt aus Benzol oder dessen
Derivaten in einer Stufe zu bekommen.
Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren besteht darin, daß man einen
aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoff der allgemeinen Formel II
worin R und n die obige Bedeutung haben, mit Wasserstoff und
Salzsäure in Gegenwart eines Rhodium-Ruthenium-Hydrierkatalysators
bei einer Reaktionstemperatur im Bereich von 0 bis
300°C und einem Wasserstoffdruck im Bereich von 9,8 · 10²
bis 4,9 · 10⁷ Pa, umsetzt, wobei man die Umwandlung des aromatischen
Kohlenwasserstoffes auf weniger als 80% hält.
Bevorzugte Beispiele des aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffes
der Formel II sind Benzol, Toluol, Ethylbenzol, Cumol, Xylole
und Cymole. Benzol ist am meisten bevorzugt. Die Qualität
des aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffes ist auch nicht besonders
begrenzt, sofern er keine Verunreinigungen enthält, die
eine Verschlechterung der Aktivität des Hydrierkatalysators
verursachen.
Die Menge des aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffes (II) kann 0,1
bis 40 Mol-%, vorzugsweise 2,0 bis 40 Mol-%, berechnet auf
der Grundlage der Gesamtmenge des aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffs
und der Salzsäure sein.
Die Umsetzung kann in Gegenwart einer zusätzlichen starken
Säure durchgeführt werden, die eine protonische Säure mit
einer Säuredissoziationskonstante, pKa, von weniger als 4,0,
vorzugsweise 3,0, oder eine Lewis-Säure mit einer vergleichbaren
Acidität und Stabilität sein kann. Die starke Säure
kann Schwefelsäure, Bromwasserstoffsäure, Jodwasserstoffsäure,
Phosphorsäure, ein saures Sulfat, wie Kaliumbisulfat
oder Ammoniumbisulfat, Trifluoressigsäure, Methansulfonsäure,
Trifluormethansulfonsäure, eine Alkansulfonsäure, ein
Kationenaustauscherharz, Bortrifluorid, eine Heteropolysäure,
wie Phosphowolframsäure, Silicowolframsäure, Phosphomolybdänsäure
oder Silicomolybdänsäure, eine aromatische Sulfonsäure,
wie Benzolsulfonsäure oder Toluolsulfonsäure, oder
eine feste Säure, wie Aluminiumoxid, Kieselsäure-Aluminiumoxid,
kristallines Aluminosilikat, Titandioxid oder ein Gemisch
hiervon sein. Die Salzsäure kann aber auch selbst die
Rolle dieser starken Säure spielen.
Die Menge der starken Säure kann vorzugsweise mehr als 0,01
Mol-%, berechnet auf der Grundlage der Salzsäure, sein, die
in dem Reaktionsgemisch vorliegt. Eine stärker bevorzugte
Menge ist mehr als 2 Mol-%.
Bei der Erfindung ist die Umwandlung des aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffes
(II) weniger als 80%. Im Falle, wo eine flüssige
Phase zwei Schichten aufweist, bedeutet der Ausdruck
"weniger als 80%" der Umwandlung, daß mehr als 20% der
Menge des aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffes, der in der den
Hydrierkatalysator enthaltenden Schicht enthalten ist, vorzugsweise
während der gesamten Reaktion in derselben Schicht
gehalten werden können. Bei einer Umwandlung von mehr als
80% wird die Selektivität für Chlorcyclohexanderivate (I)
vergleichsweise gering.
Der Rhodium-Ruthenium-Hydrierkatalysator kann in der Form
von Schwamm, von feinem Pulver, eines Kolloids oder auch auf
einem Träger vorliegen. Beispielsweise kann als Trägermaterial
für den Hydrierkatalysator Aktivkohle, Tonerde, Kieselsäure,
Kieselsäure-Tonerde, Boroxid, Wolframtrioxid, Molybdäntrioxid,
Zeolith, Asbest, eine andere bekannte feste Säure
oder ein Kationenaustauscherharz verwendet werden. Einige
feste Trägermaterialien können eine Rolle als die starke
Säure spielen. Auch kann eine Legierung des Edelmetalles mit
anderen Metallen, wie Kupfer, Silber oder Gold, als Trägermaterial
verwendet werden. Bevorzugt ist das Trägermaterial
Kieselsäure.
Die Qualität des in der vorliegenden Erfindung verwendeten
Wasserstoffgases ist nicht besonders beschränkt, jedoch vorausgesetzt,
daß der Wasserstoff keine Verunreinigungen enthält,
die die Aktivität des Hydrierkatalysators verschlechtern.
Der Wasserstoff kann ein Inertgas, wie Stickstoff, Helium,
Argon, Kohlendioxid oder Methan, enthalten.
Der Wasserstoffdruck beeinflußt die Umsetzung nach der Erfindung
nicht wesentlich. Der bevorzugte Wasserstoffpartialdruck
liegt bei 9,8 · 10² bis 2,94 · 10⁷ Pa, besonders bei
4,9 · 10⁴ bis 1,47 · 10⁷ Pa. Im Hinblick auf die Umsetzungsgeschwindigkeit
und die Druckbeschränkung der Reaktionsapparatur
kann die Umsetzung vorzugsweise unter einem Druck von
4,9 · 10⁴ bis 1,47 · 10⁷ Pa durchgeführt werden. Die Reaktionstemperatur
liegt vorzugsweise bei 20 bis 200°C.
Die Umsetzung kann in einem inerten Lösungsmittel, wie Methanol,
Dioxan, Cyclohexan oder n-Octan, durchgeführt werden.
Sie wird jedoch vorzugsweise in einem wäßrigen Medium
durchgeführt.
Unter gewöhnlichen Reaktionsbedingungen sind die Mengen an
Nebenprodukten vernachlässigbar. Die Gewinnung der Chlorcyclohexanderivate
(I) aus dem Reaktionsgemisch kann nach herkömmlichen
Methoden durchgeführt werden. Die Umsetzung nach
der vorliegenden Erfindung kann entweder kontinuierlich
oder ansatzweise erfolgen.
Die Mechanismen der Umsetzung nach der Erfindung sind nicht
eindeutig, doch kann die praktische Überlegenheit des Verfahrens
nach der Erfindung folgendermaßen im Vergleich mit
der oben erwähnten selektiven Benzolhydrierung zu Cyclohexen
erklärt werden. Bei dieser letzteren Reaktion ist es
sehr wichtig, die Benzolumwandlung zu verbessern, ohne Cyclohexenselektivität
zu opfern, da Cyclohexen leichter als
Benzol hydriert wird. Andererseits bekommt man in der ersteren
Reaktion, die als ein "Hydrierhydratationsverfahren" bezeichnet
werden kann, die Produkte der Formel (I) aus der
Addition der Salzsäure an ein als Zwischenprodukt auftretendes
Carboniumion, das durch Protonierung der als Zwischenprodukt
auftretenden Cycloolefine gebildet wird, welche
letztere bei der Hydrierstufe gebildet werden. Die Produkte
sind gewöhnlich weniger reduzierbar als Benzol, so daß es
möglich ist, die Benzolumwandlung zu verbessern und Endprodukte
der Formel (I) zu erhalten, ohne Selektivität opfern
zu müssen.
In den folgenden Beispielen sind die Ausdrücke Umwandlung,
Ausbeute und Selektivität folgendermaßen definiert:
2 ml Benzol, 5 ml 35%ige wäßrige Salzsäure und 200 mg Katalysator
aus 5% Rh-Ru auf SiO₂ wurden in einen Glaskessel (etwa
35 ml) mit einer spulenartig gewickelten Kapillarentlüftung
und mit einem kleinen Rührmagneten, der mit Polytetrafluorethylen
überzogen war, eingefüllt. Der Kessel wurde in eine
Hochdruckbombe (etwa 100 ml) eingesetzt und mit Wasserstoff
bei 0°C gespült. Die Bombe wurde bis zu einem Druck von
4,9 × 10⁶ Pa mit Wasserstoff gefüllt und 3 h unter magnetischem
Rühren auf 140°C erhitzt.
Nachdem das Gas bei 0°C abgelassen worden war, wurde der
Kessel herausgenommen, dann mit gesättigter wäßriger Natriumchloridlösung
gefüllt, und sodann wurde die organische
Schicht einer Gas-Flüssigkeitschromatographie zugeführt.
Die erhaltenen Werte finden sich in der folgenden Tabelle.
Ein Ansatz von 2 ml Benzol, 5 ml 35%iger Salzsäure und 200 mg
von 5% Rhodium-Ruthenium (6 : 4) auf Kieselsäure wurden
in eine 20-ml-Glasbombe gegeben und unter einem Wasserstoffdruck
von 9,8 · 10⁵ Pa 237 h auf 100°C erhitzt. Die organische
Schicht wurde der Gas-Flüssigkeitschromatographie unterzogen,
und die Ergebnisse derselben zeigen, daß 51,67%
des Benzols in Chlorcyclohexan und 8,95% in Cyclohexan umgewandelt
worden waren.
Claims (4)
1. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Chlorcyclohexanderivaten
der allgemeinen Formel I
worin R Wasserstoff oder eine Alkylgruppe mit 1 bis 3
Kohlenstoffatomen, wobei n die Werte 1 oder 2 annimmt,
bedeutet, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man einen aromatischen
Kohlenwasserstoff der allgemeinen Formel II
worin R und n die obige Bedeutung haben, mit Wasserstoff
und Salzsäure in Gegenwart eines Rhodium-Ruthenium-Hydrierkatalysators
bei einer Reaktionstemperatur im Bereich
von 0 bis 300°C und einem Wasserstoffdruck im Bereich
von 9,8 · 10² bis 4,9 · 10⁷ Pa umsetzt, wobei man
die Umwandlung des aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffes auf
weniger als 80% hält.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
man als Trägermaterial für den Hydrierkatalysator Kieselsäure
einsetzt.
3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 und 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß man das Verfahren in einem wäßrigen Medium durchführt.
4. Verfahren nach Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man
den Gehalt des aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffs in dem
wäßrigen Medium auf mehr als 20% der Sättigungskonzentration
hält.
