Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 25. März 1910 ab.Patented in the German Empire on March 25, 1910.
It is well known that cellulose esters, like acetyl celluloses, are very difficult to dye, The dyeing of these bodies by the previously known methods also has the disadvantage that the cellulose esters lose a lot of their strength.
It has now been found that colored acidylated celluloses of great technical Value can be obtained in a very simple way by using colored cellulose or its related conversion products such as cotton, wood pulp, oxycellulose, hydrocellulose, subjected to the acidylation process.
Those dyes have proven to be suitable which act against those used in the acidylation acidic reagents are resistant. Of these dyes, for. B. to mention the Algae dyes, the indanthrene dyes, sulfur dyes etc. are suitable for red, for example. B. Algol red, helindon scarlet, rosanthrene, diazobrillant scarlet; for blue: algol and indanthrene blue; for green: diamond brilliant green; for violet: Katigen violet or diazoindigo blue; for black: Katigen black or Immedial black etc. It is surprising that in this process the dyes are not suffer, but rather the nuances are even more clear than on other material. It is possible according to the present process, the above-mentioned very lightfast dyes to use. This can be used to produce colored films and other structures made of acidyl cellulose come from a light fastness, as it is not possible by previously known methods are preserved.
The acidylation is carried out according to the usual methods using the various aids. The colored acidylation products dissolve as appropriate in the process to clear colored solutions that can be processed directly, or from which the colored structures are then isolated in the usual way and placed on foils, Films, etc. are processed.
According to the method of British Patent 7341/1903, solutions of acidyl cellulose in acetic acid, phenol or other suitable solvents, which are called color solutions injected into a liquid such as alcohol, benzene, or petroleum ether, which absorb the solvent, so that then the acidyl cellulose in a certain Figure appears. According to this method, of course, only a very specific and limited number of dyes can be used , namely those that are in the liquids used to dissolve the acidyl cellulose, such as acetic acid, phenol, etc., are also soluble or are not attacked by these • substances.
Die Lösung gibt beim Eindunsten eine klare hellrote Folie.200 parts of cotton are dyed and developed with 4 percent rosanthrene A according to the process of patent 159524 with 800 parts of acetic anhydride, 800 parts of glacial acetic acid and 20 parts of SO 11 H 2 . The deep red crude solution is then precipitated with water, the acetyl cellulose is washed, dried and dissolved in chloroform. When the solution evaporates, it forms a clear, light red film.

Die Lösung gibt beim Eindunsten eine dunkelgrüne klare Folie.200 parts of cotton are dyed with 10 percent Katigenbüllant green and, as above in Example / i described, acetylated and treated further. The solution is with evaporation a dark green clear film.

Following the method of patent 184201, Example 3, 100 parts of cotton z. B. are colored with 20 percent Algolrot B, acetylated with 400 parts of acetic anhydride and 1500 parts of benzene. The product retains its color during acetylation, washing and drying and dissolves in CHCL with a beautiful red color.

Die Formylcellulose kann in den dafür in Betracht kornmenden Lösungsmitteln gelöst und zu blauen Folien, Überzügen usw. verarbeitet werden.200 parts of cotton dyed with indanthrene blue RS are mixed with 100 parts of formic acid and 3 to 10 parts of SO 41 H 2 at 66 ° Bc. formylated according to the method of patent 189836. The result is a dark blue solution which can be precipitated with water in the usual way and washed without the formate losing its deep blue color. The formyl cellulose can be dissolved in the appropriate solvents and processed into blue films, coatings, etc.
The process proceeds in an analogous manner when using other acidyl celluloses or other suitable dyes.
