Abstract

The traction system has a conducting grid suspended over the roadway by isolated cables strung between houses and masts. The vehicles have power take-off wipers with the strands of grid arranged so that the double wipers have electric contact between two poles. The vehicles can be fitted with conventional engines for stretches of roadway which are not covered by the grid. The system can also be applied to canals. A further improvement is to cover the grid with transparent plastic to protect the roadways from rain and snow.
