Description
For the continuous production of a ribbon-shaped synthetic resin molding compound reinforced with embedded fibers a method has already been proposed (DT-PS 22 47 142), after which on a first Synthetic layer of endless glass rovings applied in a randomly distributed manner, on which cut glass fibers are deposited and both fiber layers are covered with a further synthetic resin layer. Through these measures is intended to eliminate the orientation of the fibers in a preferred direction as far as possible and a molding compound can be produced with uniform strength in each direction. The after the already proposed The synthetic resin molding compound produced by the process has the top where the short-cut glass fibers last applied, a visible structure that is different from the structure of the underside. These Structure remains even after the mass has been processed, e.g. B. obtained in a mold. On the bottom is the course of the endless glass rovings can be recognized and therefore this surface appears optically imperfect and unappealing. Although many parts can be used so that essentially the top is visible, both surfaces can be seen on other parts.
The invention is based on the object of having the same structure on both surfaces of the molding compound and to improve the flowability of the mass during further processing in a press.
This is achieved according to the invention in that before the application of the endless and the cut Glass fibers first cut glass fibers are deposited on the first synthetic resin layer.
If then the endless glass rovings are laid down in a tangled form and additional cut fibers are flocked, a layer package is created, which is constructed symmetrically to its center plane and both surfaces offer the same visual appearance. The glass cutters to produce the cut As already suggested in the earlier patent 22 47 142, fibers can be endless glass rovings from supply spools or glass rovintfs are supplied, which ^ uvor immediately melted and spun. After each application of glass fibers, a Resin base layer can be applied in order to obtain the most homogeneous possible structure of the layer package.
To improve the flowability of the mass during processing in the compression molding process, it is advantageous to the fibers, which are deposited in endless and tangled form, do not cover the entire width of the band-shaped web to apply, but to leave those areas of endless fibers free, which in the subsequent pressing process e: subject to severe deformation. The cut fibers applied before and after cover the entire width of the web and are preferably used in those areas where the endless Fibers are missing, so much more applied than the proportion of continuous fibers would have corresponded. The percentage The proportion of fibers in the layer is then retained across the width of the web.
When processing such masses in the press there is the advantage that the mass in the areas which are strongly deformed, can flow better and thus the mold is filled better because the endless fibers can not hinder the flow process.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention will be explained with reference to the schematic representation of the drawing briefly explained.
From the resin feed 1 (e.g. a squeegee trough), resin build-up is applied directly to or onto a carrier tape 2 a film 3 lying on the carrier tape is applied. Glass rovings 5 are placed on the glass cutting device 4 fed from the supply 6 and the cut fibers flocked onto the first resin batch layer. With a slot nozzle 7, a thin resin batch layer can also be applied to the cut To cover fibers. The nozzle 7 consists of a pipe running across the width of the belt a downward 'slot. Resin is fed to the pipe under pressure. With the help of the distribution device 8 the endless rovings are applied in a tangled form. The distribution device can be designed in this way be that the endless fibers are only deposited in the central area of the band-shaped mass web and the edge area remains free. With a total width of the web of z. B. 400 mm is the edge area on each Side approx. 50 mm wide. In the edge area are used to compensate for the missing endless fibers expediently deposited correspondingly more cut fibers. The cutting devices are designed in such a way that that there are correspondingly more fibers at the edge. If desired, another slot nozzle can be used 9 can be provided for applying a resin batch layer. Finally, with the help of the glass cutting device 10 fibers, cut short again, flocked. In the further course (not shown in the drawing) a pulley is used the resin batch layer serving as a top layer is supplied and both layers are overlaid accordingly Deflection pulleys brought together. The layers then pass through, as in the earlier patent 22 47 142 described several rollers offset from one another,
In the process, instead of or in addition to glass fibers, mineral fibers or metal fibers can also be used. Organic fibers, e.g. B. of polyamides, or Find sisal fibers use.
